DSS Findings On APC: ‘We Have Been Vindicated’ - PDP Posted: 07 Jan 2015 11:47 AM PST Find the PDP press statement below... The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said it has been vindicated by the shocking findings made by the State Security Services of the plot by the APC to compromise the electoral process, hack into INEC's data base and rig the February general elections. PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh in a statement on Wednesday said Nigerians and the international community can now see that the ruling party was not crying wolf as alluded by some quarters when it earlier raised an alarm that the APC was cloning INEC's Permanent Voters Card (PVC) and utilizing technologies to hack into the commission's data base."When we alerted Nigerians that the APC is on a sinister mission against this country some people dismissed us as crying wolf and playing to the gallery. Now that they have been exposed, the world can see that the APC is indeed a party of criminals in desperate quest for power. "Everyone now knows on what strength a party which lacks genuine followership among the people has been boasting that it will emerge victorious in the elections with threats of violence if it loses. It is shocking that while other parties are working hard to win votes, the APC was busy procuring hacking equipment and training their members on how to subvert the will of the people and steal their mandate. This is indeed a slap in the face of Nigerians and the worst assault on our democracy. "What can the supporters of the APC say now that they have been exposed? What can they say now that the true colour of a party, which has been parading itself in a messianic robe has finally been revealed? "The APC and its leaders, especially its Presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari with his so-called moral credentials are a huge disgrace to our nation. They have proven to be persons of questionable character who should not be entrusted with leadership. They should hide their faces in shame and seek forgiveness from God and the people," the statement said. Calling on Nigerians to continue to be vigilant, the PDP urged the security agencies not to rest on their oars while charging INEC to ensure that "it is not complicit in this heinous crime against the Nigerian state and its people." The party also urged that all those found culpable in the criminal plot should be made to face the full wrath of the law. Signed Olisa Metuh National Publicity Secretary |

Ghen ghen! 'APC planned to hack into INEC database'- DSS claims Posted: 07 Jan 2015 11:22 AM PST The Department of State Services, DSS, said today that its investigations indicates that the APC had plans to hack into the database of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. From NAN DSS said it had uncovered lists containing names and photographs of security personnel, foreigners and minor/under-aged on the registered members list of the All Progressive Congress (APC). Also , there was an elaborate and well articulated plan to inflate the party's membership data as well as hack into INEC's voter registration database. The spokesperson of DSS, Marilyn Ogar, disclosed this on Wednesday at a news conference in Abuja. Ogar also said that video with tutorial for hacking was also uncovered when the service raided a building in Lagos. She displayed the lists and other items recovered from the building to newsmen. She also alleged that the APC filled forms without passport photographs, books containing names of people with phone numbers and many envelopes containing passport photographs of people were also recovered. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that operatives of the service raided the building at No. 10, Bola Ajibola St., Ikeja, Lagos state, on Nov. 24, 2014, following a tip-off. "We suspect that there was an elaborate and well articulated plan to inflate the party's membership data as well as hack into INEC's voter registration database,'' the spokesperson said. According to her, this was done through the creation of the party's membership forms and cards to match INEC's voters register across the country. Ogar said that the video of 21 hacking tutorials, ``a temporary voter card, a permanent voter card'' were also recovered. "The tutorial video focused on the following areas: How to become a hacker and steps to take to avoid detection in the process of hacking web services. "Steps and procedures of system hacking, passwords cracking, decrypting, escalating access privileges and creating backdoors to servers,'' she said. Ogar also said that the tutorial clearly explained how to evade security of database such as ``Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), firewalls and other measures put in place to deter backers''. She said the video also outlined ways to identify vulnerabilities in systems and how to cleverly drop a USB flash drive in a target establishment. She alleged that the drive, when plugged into any commuter, could transmit ``malicious codes enough to gain access into and compromise the entire system of the target organisation''. "The video explains how to hack into the systems of media houses with the aim of broadcasting fake stories or headlines,'' she said. Ogar said that suspects arrested in connection with the raid had been charged to court, while investigation had begun. She promised to update the public with further developments. Responding to questions, Ogar said the service had written to the security agencies whose personnel were found on the APC register to investigate their involvement and take necessary actions. (NAN) |

Buhari represents darkness while GEJ represents light - FFK Posted: 07 Jan 2015 06:46 AM PST Spokesperson of the PDP presidential campaign organisation Femi Fani-Kayode has described APC's presidential flag bearer as a rep of darkness while President Jonathan represents light. According to him, General Buhari's records are shameful and disastrous. FFK said this while addressing newsmen at the PDP campaign headquarters in Abuja today January 7th "We wish to inform you that it is our intention to run a clean campaign that is based on facts, figures and issues. We shall not indulge in the type of cheap propaganda, mud-slinging and deceit that the APC and their Presidential candidate have been indulging in over the last few weeks and months but it is our full intention to expose General Muhammadu Buhari for what he really is, what he stands for and the great danger that his candidacy portends for the unity of the Nigerian state and the peace and well-being of the Nigerian people. More importantly, we shall let the world know about the sterling performance of our candidate, President Goodluck Jonathan, over the last four years and we shall make a strong case and appeal to the Nigerian people to grant him the privilege and opportunity to serve a second term. We believe that we have reached a crossroads in our nation's history and that the forthcoming Presidential Election is a battle for the very soul and destiny of Nigeria. We believe that it is a struggle between light and darkness. We believe that General Buhari represents the darkness and that President Jonathan represents the light. We believe that General Buhari represents a return to an ugly past which is best forgotten while President Jonathan represents our hope for a greater and better future. We believe that the APC, on which platform General Buhari is contesting the presidential election, represents everything that is unholy and unwholesome in our society and that the PDP represents all that is decent and good. "We believe that the much-vaunted 'change' campaign of General Buhari represents nothing but a change from good to evil. If you want a positive change, you cannot expect to get it from a man like General Buhari whose democratic credentials are questionable and whose record in public office is shameful and disastrous. Most people do not remember the atrocities that he committed when he was in power and it is our intention to document them and remind the Nigerian people about them. Most people have chosen to ignore the number of things that General Buhari has said and the number of things that he has done over the last few months and years that have brought carnage, division and strife in our society and that prove that he is not the sort of person that can be trusted with power. It is our intention to bring those things to the attention of the Nigerian people so that they can make an informed choice. "We do not believe that Nigeria ought to be run by a man that is not capable of tolerating dissent or by a political party like the APC that has no sense of remorse, restraint or decency and that is not capable of accepting a plurality of views. We believe that President Goodluck Jonathan has earned the right for a second term and, in the next few weeks, we shall make a humble appeal to the Nigerian people to vote for him massively in the February 14 Presidential Election. By the grace and power of God, we shall prevail." he said |
