Photos: protest in Abuja over the execution of Nigerians in Indonesia

Posted: 11 May 2015 12:45 PM PDT

Members of United Nigerians in Diaspora (UNID) led by Dr. Paschal Okoli organized a peaceful protest in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory on Monday, 11th May, urging the federal government  to intervene in the gruesome execution of Nigerians in Indonesia. More pics after the cut...

The protesters who carried placards with different inscriptions called on the federal government to do something about the ugly incident, even as they condemned the act of drug trafficking and other related offences by Nigerians, particularly in Indonesia, which attracts death penalty.

The group expressed confidence that the government can do something about the ugly development to forestall further killings of Nigerians in the country. They called on the federal government to do everything humanly possible to save the lives of the remaining seven (7) Nigerian inmates in Indonesia who are due for execution in no distant time. It would be recalled that about thirteen (13) Nigerians  were executed already in the ugly circumstance recently.

The Association equally recalled that two (2) Indonesian citizens who were found guilty in a similar offence in Malaysia were pardoned and sent back to their country (Indonesia) following the intervention of Indosian government. In another instance, ten (10) Indonesian citizens were condemned in Malaysia over similar offence but were later pardoned and sent back to Indonesia due to quick  and serious intervention of Indonesian government. Again, five (5) Indonesians have been condemned in Saudi Arabia presently over the same offence and the government of Indonesia is fighting tirelessly to secure their release.

The group therefore queried why Nigerian government is so indifferent towards the plight of her citizens in Indonesia.

Tyga replies Blac Chyna's mum after she drags him & his family on social media

Posted: 11 May 2015 10:15 AM PDT

Blac Chyna's mum Tokyo Toni isn't done dragging Tyga, his family and his girlfriend's family after Tyga's grandma claimed in an interview that Kylie came from a better and more educated family. See what she wrote on instagram plus Tyga's response to her and Blac Chyna's response to Tyga. Drama!

Tyga's response below...
You gotta stay off social media [Tokyo Toni]. All these stories are fake and you should know that. My grandma can barely speak English, how would she say all those things? Don't get up in the games the media tryna get everyone to play. I've yet to say any[thing] disrespectful about your daughter or you. And I don't plan on it. There will continue to be lies and fake stories everyday. But try to be the bigger person and try not to resort to talking publicly about a private family matter. King is the bigger picture. Please keep the peace for his sake.

Open letter to Mr. President-elect, Buhari - By Charly Boy

Posted: 11 May 2015 09:54 AM PDT

Sequel to his opinion on the zoning formula and our polity, CharlyBoy, writes the president elect, Gen. Buhari an open letter that mirrors not just his mind but that of many others. Find below...
Oga GMB,
How far? I trust you have been getting enough rest and getting ready for the mother of all battles in your life. You know how hard and how long you have fought for this and now that you have it, we can't wait to see how our lives will change!
You must understand that our expectations are high, but you can't blame us too much. By faith or design, you have become a symbol of renaissance for a nation that has been battered by mismanagement and unprecedented corruption. Kai! Odiegwu!

Many of us were sold on your Change Campaign, tired of the usual statuesque and many more just wanted a better life for ourselves and our loved ones. All eyes are on you, I trust you know that by now. This Change should demonstrate to us possibilities, hope again for the youths of this country and a channeling back to those core values which we hold sacred. Anything less will be same of the same.  Shey you get?

Fact from fiction, truth from rhetoric, I know that it is foolhardy to expect that one individual alone can by himself/herself bring about this Change we desperately need and earnestly desire. However, inasmuch as you need to raise a viable team to work with, using the formula of zoning won't cut it. My earnest advice to you is to choose officers and men strictly on merit and not necessarily what geopolitical zone they come from. Remember, this same zoning formula has been used at different times in this country, and each time, it has failed. The issue of zoning coming up now again is a reminder of times in the past that we desperately want to forget. Same of the same?

I would want to believe that you have come to heal and fix the rot.
It will never be easy because of the wolves and sharks amongst us who benefit big time from the corruption, the poverty, the confusion and hopelessness they inflict on Nigerians.

So after May 29th, as you put on your boxing gloves and crank your whip, we will be watching with bathed breath to see not only the will to fight this battle but the sincerity and strategies to lead us on the path of true healing for our broken Nation. Biko.

Oga me, e don set oooooo.

Much Respect,
Na me.

LIB readers claims police brutality - shares her story

Posted: 11 May 2015 09:10 AM PDT

Story of alleged police brutality as told by a LIB reader. Read below...
All this occurred on May 8th Friday between 6pm and 7:30pm. I went to AFC in Ikoyi to pick my boss after his meeting and the driver was trying to park when the companies Halogen security started banging on the glass of the car, i was seated at the back, i  wound down the window and asked him "oga what is the problem" ?, he said - make una park like this. We said okay and the driver drove towards the gate and was reversing back into the open car space. Again the Halogen security began banging on the drivers window and i came down and said come what exactly is your problem.
The halogen security responded saying " these drivers are mumus that is how we talk to them by banging on the glass."  I said is that why you want to break my window? Because of parking ? As i closed the passenger back  door i came down from, the Halogen security hand was still on the glass so he's finger got caught in between the doors.

He started shouting have you seen , have you seen, you have wounded me . I said- is your hand supposed to be on the glass in the first place ? Infact call me your manager, i can't understand this behavior. So his manager came, he is the one dressed in white native, i explained the situation to him saying i asked for you because i know these security men aren't trained well and his behavior just now was very barbaric. The manager and i pacified the situation and he apologized . Meanwhile in the back ground the Halogen security was busy raining abuses on me, that if i weren't a woman he will bounce on me, i am an ashewo, i am very mad, i am lucky people are here he will deal with me." Mind you this is an office security who is to direct people where to park and report any escalating incident." He instead made a scene and was acting so barbaric, so i told him beat me? ova come , come and beat me lets see you. I dare you come .

I asked him he should come and pounce on me and see if he doesn't loose his job. All the while this chaos is going on inside, my boss is on his way down and my co worker who was with me was also arguing with the Halogen security in the presence of their manager. The manager had told them to go inside and stop talking yet both securities kept yelling at the top of their voice how they will descend on us.

Now here comes the unbelievable part, the police man across the road, right at the intersection of Osbourne Foreshore estate ran and came to escalate the situation even more. Initially when he first came he began shouting and my co worker and i said no that's not what happened. we explained that we wanted to park well and the halogen security kept hitting the glass for no reason so i came down to ask for his boss and thats how the argument ensued. The police kept insisting no we are wrong we were trying to enter the building, and i said how can we enter a building that the gate is closed and locked from the inside ? How?

He caused a scene attracted more people, the manager of the Halogen security kept telling him no its okay , then the police officer said no, that he saw everything from Across the road and i asked him did you hear the conversation, he said no, i said so what do you know you saw ? You weren't here ? you didn't hear the conversation why are you screaming like you were here . At that point i knew it was pointless arguing with him so a lady who was there with here baby said we should enter the car and kill the situation while we wait on my boss coming out .

As we entered the car trying to recollect the whole situation, the halogen security starting banging on the hood of the car, and said  " move this rubbish out of here, move this car out of here now ." from the pictures below you can also see his hand print on the bonnet of the car. I told him, if you spoil it you will pay for it so go ahead, you will be the one who loses his job so go ahead. He and his second halogen security were now confident the police officer was on their side and added to the shouting at the top of their voices.

The police officer asked my driver to hand the car key to him and the driver said no, i work under somebody i can't do that. The police man said and i quote " I AM A FIGURE OF AUTHORITY, I AM AUTHORIZING YOU TO GIVE ME THE KEY" . My driver said no until my madam calms down. I then over heard them trying to take the key and i snatched the key from the driver asking, what does the key have to do with the issue? What do you want with the key , i am the owner speak with me.

The police man went on trying to remove the air from my front left tire, the drivers tire and i said go ahead i brought out my phone and started taking pictures as you can see below. The manager of the Halogen security told him don't, he was using his hand to restrict the police officer from doing so. He said its not needed but the officer was insistent on removing the air in the tire and i started taking pictures of him and he got so enraged he proceeded to hitting me and i caught it on camera.

The Halogen security manager started shouting its enough , i immediately called my uncle who is in the military and at the same time my boss and the managers of the company then exited the gate. So they witnessed it and were alarmed at the behavior of the police officer . The police officer, halogen security and manager of the halogen security all began lying that the police man didn't hit me . That my driver was trying to drive the car into the compound and the company manager said but she has evidence of you hitting her so what rubbish are you saying ? I opened all the pictures and the AFC manager was embarrassed and mad she began apologizing to me as we went into the building to explain thoroughly. I told her its not her fault obviously these security lack training every where but this police man will pay.

She apologized that they halogen security will be removed from the job immediatlely and the police officer dealt with . I had already informed my uncle in military who has taken over the police officer. But my question now is supposed i didn't have someone in higher authority to report to? is that how a police officers who are to protect civilians now will be going around hitting people because they feel they are figures of authority ?

Rihanna's dad Ronald Fenty yesterday took aim at Bruce Jenner by wishing him a Happy Mother's Day. The original post contained the quote;

He deleted that part after his followers called him out and said he was mocking the 65 year old.

President of Chad visits GEJ, Buhari in Abuja, says he doesn't know where Shekau

Posted: 11 May 2015 07:53 AM PDT

Chadian President, Idris Deby paid a visit to Nigeria's president elect, General Muhammadu Buhari at the Defence House in Abuja today May 11th after seeing President at the State House.

Speaking with State House corresponds after the meeting, president Idris Derby said he doesn't know where leader of Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau is at the moment. What he said after the cut...

"I cannot tell you today that I know where Shekau is hiding ‎and even if I knew I won't tell you. It is regrettable that the two armies that is the Nigerian army and the Chadian Army are working separating in the field, they are not undertaking joint operation. If they were operating joint operation probably they would have achieved more results. I came to consult with my brother President Goodluck Jonathan.
As you all know Nigeria and Chad are two countries that have a lot of similarities in fighting insurgents. Chad has had its own problems in the 70s and 80s and Nigeria assisted chad during those difficulties times. On the 2015 general elections, ‎I came principally to congratulate Mr. President for the statesmanship he demonstrated during the elections.
We all know that elections in Africa is always contested but Mr. President demonstrated a lot of statesmanship, that he is a real democrat by conceding defeat and congratulating the President-elect. You all know ‎that when Nigeria sneezes the neighbouring countries catch cold. If Mr. President had not taken that laudable initiative, you all know what would have happened now. Nigeria is still living in peace, you all are living in peace and that would not have happened but for that laudable initiative he took. So I came to congratulate him for leaving a legacy not only for Nigeria but for Africa as a whole" he said.
