The song was not lyrically what I wanted to say and was not completed. Without my knowledge, there was a studio leak of the recording. I apologize that it's out; and I have asked my lawyer to pursue a cease and desist on the song immediately. To be clear, I would never condone rape." |

I'm tired of the discrimination against our bodies, and I'm absolutely fed up with comments that make us feel like we can't be comfortable without being provocative In today's society, a woman's body is constantly discriminated against and hypersexualized to the point where we can no longer wear the clothing that we feel comfortable in without the accusation and/or assumption that we are being provocative. Schools are the social building blocks in an adolescent's life, meant to teach them how to communicate and develop relationships with others and also learning about themselves and who they want to be.It's preached upon us to be individual, to be ourselves. The double standard here is that when we try, we are then told we're wrong. | Posted: 14 May 2015 09:18 AM PDT  An anonymous source contacted LIB with details of the reaction of the State Coordinator, NYSC Nasarawa State - Mrs Christy I Uba to the news of the maltreatment of a corp member on the Camp. (Read the previous story here). Her reaction was during the lecture hours in the Multi Purpose hall at the Magaji Dan Yamusa NYSC Camp, Keffi today. First and Foremost, it is important for all to abide by rules & regulations. However, this did not warrant the said Man O War officials to manhandle the corp member. Those officials involved did not act on any official instruction and are solely responsible for this. She said she will handle this case as such will not be tolerated on camp - either Recklessness from camp officials or Indiscipline from all. Corp Members must also obey rules and instructions.Worthy to mention is that she also assured everyone that there will be no tribal differences on camp. The main line is that there must be discipline but this must not in any way be exploited by officials. The affected student who can now be seen out and about in the Nasarawa camp was asked to report to her office at the end of her speech |
| Traffic jam in Lagos won’t end anytime soon - NUPENG Posted: 14 May 2015 09:09 AM PDT  Speaking with NAN in Lagos on Thursday, he said that only three depots out of over 50 in the state had petroleum products to dispense. "The development has compelled hundreds of trucks to head for the three depots to lift oil. This is the key reason for the unprecedented traffic jam that has locked down Lagos in recent days." Stakeholders at the meeting were NUPENG, petroleum tankers drivers (PID), national association of road transport owners (NARTO), association of maritime truck owners (AMATO) and independent petroleum markers association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Residents in Nigeria's economic capital have faced tough times trying to buy premium motor spirit, and their woes have been compounded by traffic jams on most roads in the city. Korodo named the three depots currently having oil as capital oil and gas tank farm, ibeto oil and gas tank farm, and integrated oil and gas tank farm, all in the Apapa. He said the gridlock would ease if trucks queuing for oil would load and leave Lagos by weekend. But observers say such scenario is unlikely. Korodo suggested that the nigerian national petroleum corporation should decentralise loading of petroleum products to ease the pressure on Lagos. "This is the only way Lagos residents can get reprieve from the gridlock, which has forced up transport fares and cost of foodstuff," he said. NAN |

"We the aggrieved PDP aspirants bought forms to contest the primary election and since they did not conduct any primary election, it is only natural for them to return our money. We have made our request known to the leadership of our party both at the state and national level. They have promised to address the issue but up till now they have not done anything. When we met the national leader of the party and the national chairman of the party, they agreed to do something about us and we were satisfied with that meeting. She said many other women were separated from their children as well: "When the shooting stopped, we were all led like animals into the forest. I saw babies die and watched in pain as children were asked to bury them. In Sambisa Forest, I was asked to renounce my religion or be treated as a slave. I refused, and I was flogged daily. I did the chores and was given maize and guinea-corn peels to eat. At that time, it meant a lot because some days I had nothing to eat." she said |

| 3 soldiers, 6 vigilante group members killed in Maiduguri BH attack Posted: 14 May 2015 07:04 AM PDT  A senior official of the state Vigilante group who spoke to Daily Trust on condition of anonymity said the six vigilante group members who died were killed while trying to help 3 women who ran to them for help when the attacks started. Unknown to them, the women were suicide bombers who had bombs strapped under their clothes which later exploded, killing 6 and injuring 12 others. "The six vigilantes were killed by female suicide bombers who pretended to be in distress while the fight was ongoing between troops and the terrorists. The three women were all suicide bombers because they strapped their bodies with explosives and pretended that they were trapped in the ensuing confusion. And out of sympathy, our members approached them with a view to taking them to safety but sadly, they (women) detonated their explosives," he said.A military officer also confirmed that three soldiers died during the attack while many members of the insurgency group lost their live |

| Posted: 14 May 2015 06:46 AM PDT  UK mirror reports; An innocent man who spent 29 years behind bars after being convicted of an attempted rape and kidnapping has finally been given his freedom. Michael McAlister was cleared after a serial rapist who had an uncanny resemblance to the 58-year-old at the time confessed to the 1986 offence. He was granted an unconditional pardon by Virginia's governor, wiping away the prosecution which he had campaigned against for decades alongside family and friends.  "A number of individuals in the law enforcement community [...] have concluded that this crime was committed by another individual, and that Mr McAlister should be freed to return to his family and his community. "I have reached the same conclusion, and I have acted in accordance with the law." Upon being reunited with his sister and elderly mother outside Dillwyn Correctional Centre, McAlister said that the governor was a 'special man' for giving him his freedom. He told reporters: "It's a great day. It's a wonderful day. Governor McAuliffe, he's a special man for being brave enough to do this." The victim, a 22-year-old mum, was assaulted in the laundry room of an apartment complex on February 23, 1986. But she was able to partially pull her attacker's stocking mask off during the attack, and caught a glimpse of his face. At the time, McAlister was known by police following a string of alcohol-related incidents of public indecency. He was misidentified after a police sketch resembled his face, which helped lead to his wrongful conviction.Shawn Armbrust, executive director of the Mid-Atlantic Innocence Project, and James Bensfield and Jonathan Kossak of the Miller & Chevalier law firm, said in a joint statement: "We are thrilled that the governor did the right thing and finally ended this nightmare." |

| Senate passes anti-Tobacco bill, culprits could get up to 6 months jail term Posted: 14 May 2015 05:28 AM PDT  The bill among other things specifies the places cigarette smokers could smoke and areas where smoking is forbidden and also the punishment to be meted out to defaulters when they smoke in non-designated areas. Culprits could get up to six months in jail The bill states that owners of public places where smoking is not allowed will be penalized if they fail to put up a "no smoking sign" on their properties. The bill was sponsored by Delta state governor elect and Senate Committee on Health Chairman, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa. The bill now awaits the assent of President Jonathan. |
