| ‘You have no power to summon me’- former EFCC boss, Lamorde tells Senate Posted: 17 Nov 2015 12:57 PM PST  Speaking through his Lawyer, Festus Keyamo who represented him at the senate hearing today, Lamorde argued that it is only a law court that can invite him for any investigation. He said he will only honor the invitation of the senate only if he is invited as a witness and not an accused. The Chairman of the committee, Emmanuel Nwanyawu, told Keyamo that the committee is not a court of law and, therefore, a lawyer cannot appear before it on behalf of his client. He said another letter of summons would be issued to Mr. Lamorde informing him he must appear before the committee on November 24th. |

In his words, 'The project tells stories that I think everyone can visualise. There are songs there for every individual. The idea is for you to listen and feel like you are the one that I'm rapping about. I want people to enter into the spirit of my music'. He emphasised that he wants to showcase the depth in his music so that people can look beyond 'Falz the funny guy'. The album features his successful hit single 'Karishika' ft Phyno & Chigul, Celebrity Girlfriend ft Reekado Banks as well as other notable collaborations. | Posted: 17 Nov 2015 12:53 PM PST   Yesterday I had the opportunity to visit an IDP camp in Abuja where many of the #bringbackourgirls came to. I remember seeing the #bringbackourgirls movement on social media but seeing it in person was a much different experience. I was able to listen to this mothers story of her journey from Northern Nigeria. It was very heartbreaking to hear and to see their living conditions. She said when it rains they have no choice but to stand and there is little to no work for her husband. I told her I admire her for her strength and I will pray for her and her family everyday. This was a very humbling experience for me-I cried at the thought of ever complaining about anything in life. It is unfortunate but I know God will protect them. We can not save the world but we can take small steps to help   She also said: 'I also was able to visit Hope for Survival Orphanage - this is 9 month old Comfort who went straight in my arms - she was so cute and lovable ❤️'      |

| Female passenger on British Airways flight restrained after trying to force open exit door Posted: 17 Nov 2015 12:26 PM PST  Flight 213, which had departed from London at 11.57am GMT, was tens of thousands of feet in the air when the unidentified woman started forcefully trying to open the plane door, officials said. Despite the incident, the plane landed safely at Logan International Airport at around 6.30pm, where it was met by Massachusetts State Police troopers, who took the passenger into custody. Police said the woman was 'intoxicated' - and has no known links to terrorism at this time. Although it was initially reported that the woman had attempted to storm the cockpit mid-flight, a BA spokesman confirmed to ABC New York that the passenger had tried to open an exit door. |

According to TMZ, Police say the 30-year-old was perched on a higher floor of the mall when she hurled several eggs down at Kylie and Kendall. The eggs hit the stage, and splattered on some fans.  |

| First plane carrying Syrian refugees arrive in the UK Posted: 17 Nov 2015 12:47 PM PST  Several more special flights will arrive at airports around Britain in the coming months as part of a programme to take 20,000 refugees over five years.  The arrivals come after it emerged that at least one of the attackers in the Paris atrocity is believed to have entered Europe through Greece posing as a refugee from Syria. At the weekend, the UK Home Secretary Theresa May said those who arrive in the UK from the region will have been thoroughly screened to ensure they do not pose a terrorist threat.  "There are two levels of screening that take place," she told BBC1's Andrew Marr Show. "First of all, we are taking people directly from the camps. We are working with UNHCR - UNHCR take biometrics, they look at documents, they interview people, they do their own process of screening against issues like war crimes and serious criminality. "Then there is a further check that is done once people are referred to the UK. The Home Office then undertakes further checks, further biometrics are taken."The revelation that one of the Paris attackers was a Syrian refugee prompted Home Office chiefs to carry out an urgent review of whether Britain's entry procedures were tough enough. Paul Morrison, director of the UK Syrian resettlement programme, said British methods were more thorough than in France because refugees are plucked directly from camps in Syria. Refugees are verified by both the UN Refugee Agency and the British government before their application to come to Britain can be approved.  New arrivals will be given a five-year visa allowing them to remain in the country, after which they will be able to apply for leave to remain. Downing Street refused to specify how many refugees were arriving today but said they had undergone "rigorous" security checks before boarding the plane. A spokesman said it would be "reasonable to assume" the refugees would go to areas within a "reasonable radius" of Glasgow. UK Mirror |
