Roger Federer defeats Nadal to win seventh Basel title

Posted: 02 Nov 2015 12:19 PM PST

Roger Federer got the better of old foe Rafa Nadal for the first time in more than three years to win a seventh Basel title 6-3 5-7 6-3. Federer, whose rivalry with Nadal is one of the most storied in tennis history, had not beaten the Spaniard since he won a semi-final at Indian Wells in 2012 and had lost their last five meetings.

Playing his 12th final in his home town, Federer survived a break point in his opening service game before grabbing the upper hand.

The Swiss broke twice to take the opening set and then went about putting pressure on third seed Nadal at the start of the second, crafting a break point at 3-2 ahead.

Nadal, however, dug deep to stay in the contest and then claimed his first break of the match for a 6-5 lead as Federer netted a backhand, leaving the Mallorcan to serve out to love.

The Swiss broke decisively to lead 5-3 in the third set and then served out to take the title, the 88th of his career, after two hours and three minutes of battle.

A happy wedding about to happen turned out to be an shocking unexpected tragedy for a Chinese family after the bride was left unconscious by a prank that went wrong. Here's what happened.
'The bride arrived at the hotel to meet the groom for the wedding banquet. Several groomsmen were sent to welcome her at the front gate. Wedding shenanigans are usually expected at this point according to Chinese traditions, so the groomsmen picked up the bride and threw her into the air, pretending to scare her.
The twist however was that they failed to catch the bride when she fell. She landed on the ground headfirst and was knocked into a coma. Her panic-stricken family members immediately called the police for help.'
She was treated in the hospital for a few days and is now in a stable condition.

#BBNWonderland - BellaNaija Weddings & Baileys Nigeria treat Brides to a Once in a Lifetime Experience!

Posted: 02 Nov 2015 12:17 PM PST

On October 10th, 2015, BellaNaija Weddings and Baileys Nigeria welcomed over 30 lucky brides-to-be to Wonderland! Inspired by the rich luxurious taste of Baileys, the love stories of BellaNaija Weddings and in anticipation of BellaNaija's 10th Year Anniversary in 2016, Wonderland was conceptualized in partnership with Baileys Nigeria.

After receiving hundreds of entries from all around the country with beautiful and captivating love stories; a bride's groom charmed his way into her life after their first meet at a BRT Bus lane, while another bride's road to forever with her groom started innocently as school friends in primary school, 33 brides received the exclusive welcome to WONDERLAND.

From the first welcome to WONDERLAND, to the parting gifts for the #BBNWonderland brides, all invitations and gift boxes were stamped with the 18+ drink responsibly message.

The WONDERLAND experience started off with brides traveling from various parts of the country, from Abuja to Anambra, from Cross River to Ogun, on an all-expense paid trip to Lagos, including flight and accommodation courtesy of Baileys Nigeria.

On Saturday, the brides arrived at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel for the highly anticipated event. They were filled with excitement, as they prepared for the event, which trended all day long on social media, filled with excitement.

The day kicked-off with a cocktail reception. On arrival, the elegantly - styled brides in white dresses were treated to Baileys cocktails as they mingled in the room filled with what seemed like familiar faces, as they had bonded during their glam session with the BM|Pro team, headed by Banke Meshida-Lawal, Baileys Brand Ambassador.

During the event, BM|Pro makeup artists were stationed outside the event for quick touch-ups, to get the brides pucker-perfect for their portraits, taken by Atunbi, and for videos by Klala Films and Lanre Esho Films.

Soon afterwards, guests were guided through the tunnel into WONDERLAND – for a once in a lifetime experience with Baileys & BellaNaija Weddings.

It was such an alluring welcome, it blew the brides away as they marveled at the grandeur of it all. Exquisitely decorated by The Wedding Guru, WONDERLAND was truly a dream!

The tablescape featured 4 feet tall floral stands, covered with hydrangeas, delphiniums, roses, orchids and cascading wisterias, complemented by double layered mirrored table tops, glass and crystal candelabras, pillar candles, gold glass charger plates and rose style folded napkins encrusted with brooches. Other major décor highlights included the stage, featuring a 3D mirror customized with WONDERLAND in gold plates and decals of the Baileys Logo, a white piano and a breathtaking mural of a groom and his bride in her wedding dress cascading down to a floral explosion.

Hosted by Bovi, the day featured an exciting line-up of activities including games and more. Brides won a variety of gifts including bridal accessories from Le Reve pieces and Zena Accessories, Selfie Sticks from the Gift Shack and spa certificates from the Four Points Spa. A Q&A session followed with recent celebrity bride Osas Ajibade who spoke about her wedding planning journey and award-winning OC Ukeje who recently celebrated his first year anniversary. There were informative sessions with leading industry vendors such as Funke Bucknor-Obruthe of Zapphaire Events and Christine Ogbeh of The Wedding Guru.

The interactive 'Make Your Baileys Cocktail' session with Lara Rawa of Eventi Cocktails was a major highlight as brides could not get enough of the yummy cocktails; made with a variety of lush infusions, and presented so beautifully, they were a hit all around! Brides were thrilled to learn how to make their own Baileys cocktails for when they return home.

During the lucky dip at the event, 6 #BBNWonderland brides won various amazing prizes including a Baileys bar, bridal makeup by Banke Meshida-Lawal, a honeymoon from Afric Holidays, wedding ring set worth up to $5,000 from Rings and Bands NG, a wedding dress from Blush by MyQ, a wedding photography package courtesy The Five Studios & Atunbi Photography. A bride also won a custom-made reception dress by April by Kunbi for audience participation while another won a special prize for social media contribution.

And just when the brides thought their #BBNWonderland experience was over, there were 2 major surprises still in store. The first, a deluxe gold WONDERLAND gift box created by The Wedding Store carted in by Coker Creative team. They squealed with excitement as they explored its content, which consisted of:

·      A Bottle of Baileys

·      A Bridal Mug

·      A Luxe "Wifey" Bridal Robe

·      Best selling BM|Pro Lipgloss

·      A Delicious Baileys Cupcake

·      A selfie stick from The Gift Haven

·      A Baileys Compact Mirror

·      The Essential Bridal Handbook by Funke Bucknor-Obruthe

·      Bridal earrings from Le Reve Pieces & The Velvet Box

·      Discount Cards from Atunbi Photography services, Afric Holidays bookings & Rings and Bands

Lagos-based brides also received a special UBER code from Uber Lagos, this gave them access to a free ride home, further reiterating the #BBNWonderland "Drink Responsibly" commitment. The brides also had access to extra internet on the day thanks to Smile.

As if that wasn't enough, #BBNWonderland brides were all gifted 2 special gift bags courtesy international cosmetics brand Lancome. One bag contained Lancome cosmetics while the other, bridal favourite Lancome fragrance "La Vie est Belle".

Finally, the room was engulfed with the melodic sounds of the piano and a loved familiar voice...it was Banky W!  The #BBNWonderland brides jumped to their feet, danced and sang along. He opted for an intimate performance with no backing track – Masterkraft was playing the white piano keys,
and Banky had two back-up singers to accompany him. Shaydee also performed.

It was a dazzling crescendo for an amazing day.

Speaking on #BBNWonderland and the collaboration with Baileys, Uche Pedro - Founder of BellaNaija.com said, "Baileys was a natural fit for us to partner with – the brand is all about celebrating women, friendships, and special moments. As the first BellaNaija event, #BBNWonderland was a wonderful experience. I read every single WONDERLAND entry and yes, the stories were so romantic! However, what struck me was the vibrancy and confidence of all the #BBNWonderland ladies. These are dynamic women who are ready to take on the world."

"WONDERLAND was a dream. It took a great team of people, that I am thankful to, in bringing this idea from concept to reality, and it has been such an amazing journey" reiterated Nkechi 'Ink' Eze – Editor, BellaNaija Weddings.

"Baileys is passionate about inspiring African women to shine and feel fabulous. A woman's journey to the altar and ultimately to forever is a very special time, and through the #BBNWonderland platform, we were able to celebrate her in an extraordinary way" remarked Ufuoma Udjoh, Brand Manager, Baileys Nigeria.

All the #BBNWonderland brides could not stop gushing about the experience – "We were treated like princesses, everything was paid for and we received lifelong tips from people who care. The gifts, the entire event... Amazing, amazing, amazing! Thanks BellaNaija Weddings and Baileys Nigeria" expressed Alma, a bride-to-be based in Abuja.

It was truly a day of smiles, entertainment, lifelong memories and friendships in WONDERLAND.

Brad Pitt & Angelina hold hands & praise each other in new interview

Posted: 02 Nov 2015 09:06 AM PST

The couple who did their first movie together in 10 years praised each other in a new interview to promote the movie, By The Sea, written and directed by Jolie. Speaking about her decision to undergo preventative double mastectomy in 2013, and the surgery to remove her ovaries earlier this year, Brad said;
'There was no vanity to my wife's approach,' the 51-year-old said. 'It was mature. There was a strength in that. It was just another one of those things in life that makes you tighter and she was doing it for the kids, and she was doing it for her family so we could be together.'
Angelina, 40, went on to discuss how her mother had a secret pact with her surgeon.
'We had some of the same nurses, some of the same doctors,' she told interviewer, Tom Brokaw. "So, the doctor that did my ovary surgery was my mother's doctor. And apparently my mother had said to her, "Promise me you will take Angie's ovaries out." So when we kind of got together, we both had a big cry, and she said, "I promised your mother, and I gotta do this."
"We can't say what the whole film is about, but a lot of the film was when I went to visit my mom in the hospital, when she found out she had cancer the first time, she was gonna have her ovaries removed, (and) she was very upset, feeling like... they're taking out her parts that were female, and there was a woman down the hall who was wailing. I later found out it was a young woman who had not had children yet, and that put everything into perspective.'
'Every woman is different when they go through menopause, and...I didn't know emotionally how I would feel,' the star admitted. 'I knew the breast would be a bigger surgery and physically changing. The ovaries is more, your hormones changing and your emotions changing, but it's different. You feel different.'
'She was doing it for the kids,' the actor said proudly of his wife, 'and she was doing it for her family so we could be together.'
Angelina Jolie said her health experience strengthened their marriage.
'I knew through the surgeries that he was on my side and that this wasn't something where I was gonna feel less of a woman because my husband wasn't gonna let that happen. To face these issues together and speak about them and talk about what it is to be human, I think can be a beautiful thing.'

Fayose's aide to Garba Shehu: We won't let you take Nigeria back to military era

Posted: 02 Nov 2015 08:42 AM PST

Read the press statement below...
The statement credited to the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, warning Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose to stop speaking on the running of the economy by the federal government has been described as a demonstration of military dictatorship mentality.
Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, in a statement issued in Ado Ekiti on Monday, said it was sad that the presidency could be warning a Nigerian, who is heading one of the country's federating units on what to say and what not to say.

Olayinka, who said he was sure that Garba Shehu must have spoken for himself, and not President Mohammadu Buhari, added that "Governor Fayose will continue to say the truth in the interest Nigeria and its people because the Governor is not one of those that will go underground because of political persecution."

He maintained that the country's economy was in serious recession, adding that; "the president himself attested to this when he said that the country was broke and this has also been corroborated by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Group financial report, indicating that the corporation incurred a total loss of N120.07bn in the months of August and September. "JP Morgan is also removing Nigeria from its Emerging Market Bond Index, a move analysts say would have far reaching implications for the country's dwindling economy as investors could move their funds to competing countries, resulting in higher lending rates.

"It is therefore a sad reminder of the military era that in a democracy, under a federation in which all federating units enjoy some degree of autonomy, the Presidency is warning a State Governor on what to say and what not to say. "Top functionaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC), including State Governors criticised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government of Dr Goodluck Jonathan, the Presidency did not go about warning them.

"Certainly, these people working with the President need to be purged of Acquired Immune Military Dictatorship Syndrome (AIMDS), even as they must be told that Governor Fayose won't stop speaking his mind and exposing their hypocrisy in the overall interest of Nigeria and its people." Speaking further, the governor's aide said "Nigerians are desirous of the change promised by the APC led federal government, but as it stands, no clear direction yet.

"Rather than engage credible Nigerians to help in the revive of the ailing economy, what we have seen from the APC Presidency is appointment of their cronies and political robbers as well as harassment of perceived political opponents with anti corruption agencies and men of the Department of State Security." He said it was not in the interest of the President for his aides to take on Governor Fayose, adding that; "leaving issues and attacking Fayose is like hitting ones head on the rock."

Here's an opportunity to get rid of 'one chance' in the F.C.T- Contrac Nigeria

Posted: 02 Nov 2015 08:11 AM PST

Abuja is the capital of largest economy in Africa. At the 2006 census, the city recorded a population of 776,298 making it one of the ten most populous cities in Nigeria. Abuja has witnessed a huge influx of people; the growth leading to the emergence of satellite towns such as Karu Urban Area, Gwagwalada, Lugbe, Kuje and other smaller settlements.

Besides the effects of rural-urban migration for a better life, the federal capital territory attracts up to 5,000 NYSC members every year out of which 70% of new migrants to the FCT are 1st time visitors with poor knowledge of its terrain.

In pursuit of a better life, most people in the FCT depend on the public transport system to move around the city. Their safety while using the public transport system becomes a thing of luck.

Most unsuspecting passengers have fallen victim to in-cab robbery popularly called "one chance" while unlucky female victims get raped in the process.

At CoTrac Nigeria, we have built a new brand for Taxi management that restores safety to passengers at affordable rates and better daily profit returns for vehicle owners who have invested in the transport sector.

So the question becomes are you interested in generating revenue for that idly parked vehicle? Do you have a vehicle that is just parked at the house without being used? Well there's good news!!! CoTrac Nigeria can generate money for you off that vehicle while also solving a prevailing problem in the public transport sector. How?

We offer vehicle owners N48, 000 monthly throughout the tenure of the rental contract. Our choice of drivers is deliberate to give all our passengers quality experience while using our service.

We work hard to protect and give a better service to our passengers as these vehicles would come equipped with the latest satellite technology allowing us have an aerial view of activities of all Cabs under our management from our command center.

There are also considerations when you refer your friends to bring their vehicles for this service. An advocate fee of N5, 000 monthly throughout the rental period would be given to you.

Photos: Lesbian Couple advertises for a sperm donor on Facebook

Posted: 02 Nov 2015 07:57 AM PST

Ashleigh Habgood and Alley Williams are asking for a sperm donor on Facebook. The New Zealand lesbian couple shared their photos on October along with the advert and a long list of requirements.
This is not a hack: So... Alley and I have been tossing up whether to put this on Facebook and there will be many (including a part of myself) who cringe at this but hey... we advertise on FB for everything else so why not a sperm donor. Thats right. We need sperm! Some of you may have noticed that we are a same sex couple, (though I have occasionally been been called "Sir" in public) and therefore we lack a vital ingredient for baby making.

But why do we need to do this, you may ask… Aren't there organisations for this kind of thing??
Well, yeah there are and we are on the list but…there is a SERIOUS sperm shortage in this country. At this point, it takes 18 months to get to the top of the sperm donor list and then, if you're lucky, you get a choice of 3 donors. Not ideal. We are also looking into adoption but would love to give birth to our own chidlet as well.

We are looking for sperm with the following factors:
1. A kind heart.
2. Intelligence (though this can be measured in a myriad of ways... i.e. if you don't know what myriad means, that doesn't mean you're not intelligent.)
3. You don't want to be a dad. You just want to be a cool dude that helped us out. Though these details can be discussed. And yes, the baby would know who you are... "The kind man who gave us some sperm." NOT "Daddy."
4. You have a clear medical history. Ideally no diabetes, heart conditions or other genetic conditions. No HIV either please:)
5. You are taller than us. Not hard, but we're already stunted enough.
6. You are 45 or younger. Sorry…. after 45, the risks of Autism, Schizophrenia and Dwarfism increase. And, as I mentioned, we're already hobbits!
Optional extras:
1. You are not white. We're not racist, just would love a mixed bub. .... But really, come one, come all.... We think you're all beautiful. Any ethnicity is amazing.
2. You're athletic.
3. You're creative.
4. You're curious.
5. You're successful in your field. (That has nothing to do with $$)
Dream world extras
1. You're an All Black.
2. You're an amazing lover. (But no, we don't want to have sex with you..... we just want to bring more amazing lovers into this world.)
3. You own a sweet kids clothing label that can kit out our bub 24/7.
4. You are ‪#‎stromae‬

OBVIOUSLY at the end of the day we just want a healthy baby who we can dote on forever.
Boy, girl? Black, white? Short, tall? We don't care. But hey... Everyone else gets to choose their baby when they choose their partner. If I could smoosh Alley's freckles and everlasting positivity with my extreme good looks, intelligence and undeniable modesty, then I would, but no matter how hard Alley and I run at each other, it just ain't working. We've even stopped using protection!
So seeing as we don't get the luxury of combining our awesome genes.. we figure we should be kinda picky... I mean, this bub will be our life for the next.... 55 years... (depending on how the medical industry progresses).
So, if you're interested in being an amazing gift of love and kindness... drop us an email.
We have so much pent up cluckiness that needs to be released but.... WE NEED YOU!
Have you got the Spermfactor?

Email us at alleynz@hotmail.com for any SERIOUS questions.
SHARE SHARE SHARE - We want to spread the word!!
#spermfactor

P.S. For anyone reading this that doesn't know us….
All you need to know is, we're married, we've been best friends since we were 15, we're 28/29, we own our own business, we have maximum time and energy for a baby, but we don't want to conceive until 2017 at the earliest.
We love kids! We already have 800 of them that we teach every week but we want our own little one. We've travelled and lived
A LOT and we're ready to start a family. However, we're not ready to settle down…. this saying never really resonated with us.

We will keep having fun with our bub/bubs until the dad we die:) Travel, adventure, learning is what we're all about!

P.P.S
As this post is traveling the country, concerns/questions have been raised about the legalities. Long story short, if we don't know you, we will be doing this insemination through a doctor. This means that you are legally "the sperm donor" and NOT "the father". You will have no legal rights to the child, which means that you would NEVER be asked to pay anything towards the child. And also means, you get no say over how the baby is raised. However, as we mention above, we are keen to find a donor with the same core values as us, and someone who is interested in being present (even if just on birthdays) in the baby's life. If anyone has any other concerns or questions, (that DON'T include questioning our sexuality) then let us know.
