LGBT group erects a huge Bilboard in Kim Davis' town

Posted: 13 Sep 2015 01:29 PM PDT

A non-profit organization that advocates for LGBTQ rights made a HUGE billboard with a message for Kentucky clerk Kim Davis, who refused to give marriage licenses to gay people because of her Christian beliefs. The LGBT group, Planting Peace, erected a billboard in Davis' home that reads:
"Dear Kim Davis, The fact that you can't sell your daughter for three goats and a cow means we've already redefined marriage."
Aaron Jackson, president of Planting Peace, told USA TODAY that the intention of mounting the billboard is to "expose how the anti-LGBT movement is selective in what rules to follow and how they choose to define 'traditional' institutions or values."

The billboard was placed right in the middle of a long road in the rural town of 7,000 people and will be there for one month.
Jackson said:
"We have been told members of the local community have been taking photos and selfies in front of the billboard," Jackson said. "We are excited that they've embraced our message."
Davis was jailed last week for defying the court and was released on Tuesday after several same-sex couples received marriage licenses from the clerk's office while Davis was in jail. However, Davis, who returns to work Monday, could face sanctions if she again interferes with eligible couples receiving licenses.

65-year-old German dumps his 26-year-old African wife on Facebook. Acuses her of infidelity, stealing his car and money

Posted: 13 Sep 2015 01:24 PM PDT

65-year-old German Pleschke Heinz-Georg took to his official Facebook account to post a message announcing the official separation from his Kenyan wife. He wrote:
"All friends, note. After the unfortunate incidents in recent weeks, caused by the unlawful conduct before my wife (name withheld), I hereby give official separation from her now on, I take no liability for all her financial or other transactions. I wish her all the best for the future. But please, do not come back."
Mr. Heinz and his young wife have been together for 8 years. They met in 2007 and tied the knot in 2011. In an interview with Citizen Digital, he revealed how he met his wife and other sundry details. "I met my wife in 2007 in Mombasa. Her daughter was six-months-old then. She also told me her dad had died in a road accident in Malindi. So,she needed somebody to take care of her. I agreed to chip in. I told her am too old to marry her; but she told me age is just but a number. She wanted something more meaningful out of the relationship, so I agreed to marry her in 2011. We have now been together for eight years – four dating, four in marriage." The German also said that until their split, he was the sole provider and sustainer of his wife's lifestyle. "All through I made sure I supported her financially and she lacked nothing. I would also make sure I visited her in Kenya from Germany two times a year; in June and December. I made sure she is living well – I booked her an apartment in Ukunda, opened her salon business, which I came to understand she closed down, sold it for small money and used the funds to finance her hefty lifestyle," Sharing his relocation plans with his wife, George disclosed: "I also told her I know she misses me, but asked her to be patient till I retire in 2013, and then I would come and live with her in Kenya forever. Perhaps buy a plot, make a home and be in each other's arms."
Though he was happy to take care of her, Georg knew his wife is extravagant.
"She's the high maintenance kind of woman who likes to show off. She wasted the money on drinking with her friends, and she could hotel-hop with her clique drinking all kinds of expensive liquor."
When asked if he was suspicious of his wife's philandering ways, he said:

"Some of her friends reported to me these things, but I had no evidence. I had to trust her – she was my wife. Some of them even told me she is sleeping around."
On the incidents that led to his disowning her on Facebook, he narrated:
"On Friday, July 17, I withdrew Sh1 million from the bank. She'd been nagging me to buy her a car, so we agreed we'll use the money to purchase one on Monday, July 20. I however asked her to keep the money safe in the wardrobe – just to see if I could trust her."
On Saturday, July 18, the couple visited a restaurant, and Georg says she asked him for permission to use his car to visit a friend.
"She'd promised she'd come pick me after two hours. The period elapsed, and several hours later I still did not see her. I tried calling her but her cell phone was switched off. I got worried and reported the matter to police. I then proceeded home; only to be shocked to find her belonging plus the Sh1 million she'd kept in the wardrobe missing."
He revealed the police could not trace her, and that she'd changed her phone number. However, he contacted his wife's friends who told him that she had eloped with another man who resides in Mombasa. When he got in touch with his wife on Facebook, Heinz claims she opened up why she left without warning.
"In one of the messages, she sent me read: 'I spent eight years of my young life with you. I just took Sh1 million and you are complaining! I needed the car too to start a new life.'" he said.
The 65-year-old narrated how he sold his home and property in Germany to come start a new life with his wife in Kenya.
"After retiring from work in 2013 and finishing my relocation plans from Germany, I joined my wife in Mombasa in June 2015. I even told her maybe I have 25 years of life, and that our lives would be a happy one with no financial difficulties. But I am sad, she ended up disappointing me! I am hearing through our mutual friend that she said if I forgive her, she'd come back. But I have moved on; I just want a divorce!"
Maanwhile, his wife commented on the post saying,
"I don't argue with fools. I am your third wife by law without counting girlfriends in between. Does it mean every woman you met is bad? Go to court and apply for a divorce. Facebook won't help you in any way."

British grandmother who was sentenced to death over drugs meets her granddaughter for the first and last time

Posted: 13 Sep 2015 01:00 PM PDT

A British grandmother Lindsay Sandiford, who has been sentenced to death for smuggling drugs in Bali met her two-year-old granddaughter for the first 'and last' time. The Grandma happily played with Ayla after her parents brought her out to meet her grandma in a Bali prison last week.

The 59-year-old has been sentenced to death after she was caught smuggling large quantities of cocaine.
Despite claiming she was forced into trafficking the drugs due to threats against her son's safety, Mrs Sandiford was told she was scheduled to be executed on September 21.
Although this was later put back until "at least" the end of the year, the grandmother's family raced out to see her and brought the little angel with them to meet Grandma.

After spending time with the youngster, Mrs Sandiford told the Mail on Sunday: "I know this may be the first and last time I ever hold my granddaughter."

Ayla was born seven months after Mrs Sandiford was arrested in Bali in May 2012 and had never before met her grandmother.

The two met up a number of times last week, and a beaming Mrs Sandiford revealed how the youngster was cuddling and kissing her after being introduced.

A North Carolina policeman shared a Facebook photo showing his run-in with a man who tried to stab him last year. Raleigh Police Officer JD Boyd took to Facebook after reuniting with a former suspect who nearly killed him, posting an image of both of them together smiling with a message.
"Almost a year ago this man and I were involved in a major altercation where he tried to stab me in the head and I nearly shot him. Today we ran into each other again and I learned that after his time in prison and some help from probation he now has a full time job and has another son on the way that will be here in November.

I was glad it ended well for us both that day and I am ecstatic now to learn that he has turned his life around and we can embrace as friends".
"No one is ever lost forever and as long as you continue to work to be a better version of yourself than you were yesterday things will work out eventually".

World’s first head transplant patient schedules procedure for 2017

Posted: 13 Sep 2015 11:54 AM PDT

A man set to become the world's first head transplant patient has scheduled the procedure for December 2017. 30 year old Valery Spiridonov was diagnosed with a genetic muscle-wasting condition called Werdnig-Hoffmann disease, and volunteered for the procedure despite the risks involved, Central European News (CEN) reported.

"When I realized that I could participate in something really big and important, I had no doubt left in my mind and started to work in this direction," Spiridonov, a Russian computer scientist, told CEN. "The only thing I feel is the sense of pleasant impatience, like I have been preparing for something important all my life and it is starting to happen."
Dr. Sergio Canavero, an Italian neurosurgeon, will perform the procedure on Spiridonov. The procedure is expected to last up to 36 hours, and it will require Spiridonov's head to be cooled as well as the donor's body to extend the period during which the cells can survive without oxygen.

"According to Canavero's calculations, if everything goes to plan, two years is the time frame needed to verify all scientific calculations and plan the procedure's details," Spiridonov. "It isn't a race. No doubt, the surgery will be done once the doctor and the experts are 99 percent sure of its success."
Spiridonov joked that first thing he plans to do after the procedure is go on a vacation.
"But on a serious note, this operation is aimed at restoring independence of severely disabled people. Once I get it back I'll see what the life of a healthier person looks like," he said.
According to the freed medical dictionary: Werdnig-Hoffmann disease is a genetic disorder beginning in infancy or young childhood, characterized by progressive atrophy of the skeletal muscle resulting from degeneration of the cells in the anterior horn of the spinal cord and the motor nuclei in the brainstem.

Onset occurs within the first year of life, with the condition usually apparent at birth. Symptoms include congenital hypotonia; absence of stretch reflexes; flaccid paralysis, especially of the trunk and limbs; lack of sucking ability; fasciculations of the tongue and sometimes of other muscles; and often, dysphagia. Treatment is symptomatic, and death generally occurs in early childhood, often from respiratory complications.

The condition is transmitted as an autosomal-recessive trait and occurs more frequently in siblings than in successive generations.
