Caitlyn Jenner will not be charged in fatal crash

Posted: 30 Sep 2015 12:12 PM PDT

Prosecutors declined to charge Caitlyn Jenner on Wednesday in a California car crash that led to the death of another driver, saying there was not enough evidence for a conviction.

Authorities said Jenner was towing an off-road vehicle on a trailer behind a Cadillac Escalade on Feb. 7 when she crashed into two cars, pushing one into oncoming traffic. Driver Kim Howe was killed when her Lexus was hit by a Hummer.
"We believed from the start that a thorough and objective investigation would clear Caitlyn of any criminal wrongdoing," said Blair Berk, Jenner's attorney.
"We are heartened the district attorney has agreed that even a misdemeanor charge would be inappropriate. A traffic accident, however devastating and heartbreaking when a life is lost, is not necessarily a criminal matter."

The D.A. rejected the case, saying she was not speeding, she hit the brakes though belatedly, and her conduct was not "unreasonable" based on all the facts.

Paedophile websites steal photos of children from social media sites, repost them on their sites where they are sexualised

Posted: 30 Sep 2015 09:22 AM PDT

According to Australia's new Children's eSafety Commissioner, Alastair MacGibbon, half of the material found on certain paedophilia websites has been sourced or stolen from parents innocently posting images of their families online, The Independent reports.

MacGibbon said that a team of investigators looking into complaints of child abuse material had discovered tens of millions of photos of children doing everyday activities such as swimming, sports or homework.

He told the Sidney Morning Herald that while the images themselves were not exploitative, comments attached to them by strangers sexualised them – and said that parents who had no idea how easily they could be downloaded by strangers were thoughtlessly cataloguing every aspect of their children's lives, "with no security against these obsessive efforts to obtain content". MacGibbon pointed out that within 10 days of being uploaded, some of the content from popular social media sharing sites such as Facebook, Instagram and Kik had been viewed 1.7 million times. Images were often catalogued in 'themes' such as "kids at beach", "nice boys play in river" or "gymnasts", alongside comments that explicitly sexualised the material.

"Many users clearly identify that they have obtained the content through trawling social media accounts. The images are almost always accompanied by highly explicit and very disturbing user comments. Often, users exchange email addresses with invitations to connect outside the site to trade content." Toby Dagg, senior investigator at the eSafety Commissioner, reported that on one paedophile site which contained at least 45 million images of children, about half the material appeared to be "sourced directly from social media".

It was then labelled in folders entitled "Kik girls" or "my daughter's Instagram friends". He said that the staggeringly high numbers of images found represented just a fraction of all the material investigated every year, and warned that while the site was not hosted in Australia, it was "entirely possible" that images of Australian children were on the site.

Cyber-safety expert Susan McLean, who said that Facebook contained the best safety and security settings for restricted content, told the newspaper that "over-sharing parents" were of particular concern. "When you post anything online, does not matter where it is, you have lost control of it," she said. "Many parents do not lock their accounts down in the same way kids do. It does not matter how innocent the photo is, if your child has got what a predator is looking for, they will take that photo."

Wendy throws major shade at Erica Mena. Says "she's a snack not the main course with a ring"

Posted: 30 Sep 2015 08:48 AM PDT

In the latest episode of her talk-show, Wendy Williams threw major shade at Erica Mena who recently parted ways with Bow Wow after she shared on social media how she suffered a miscarriage. Wendy used words like "ratchet" and "hooker" to describe the Love and Hip Hop star. Erica of course clapped back at her on Twitter. First, below is what the outspoken host said:
"She's really only known for being on that ratchet show Love & Hip Hop. A very lovely girl from what I know, I don't really know her but very good-looking woman. But when Bow Wow got engaged to her after only dating for a few months, I was gagging. Are you serious? Bow Wow, your mum is going to flip.
I know guys like girls like that but they normally don't bring them home. And they definitely don't engage them with a ring. Sorry Erica. Well, they got engaged but you know I said that they would never actually get married. I mean she's pretty for a hooker." She added: "She's a snack not the main course with a ring."
Erica took to twitter to clapback at Wendy. She wrote: "Wendy loves to discuss everyones relationship but her own very abusive one"

President of Gabon's destitute wife files for divorce ... in LA

Posted: 30 Sep 2015 08:39 AM PDT

One of president of Gabon's wives has filed for divorce in an LA court and TMZ has the scoop below
The President of Gabon in West Africa has 2 wives with very different lives ... one who lives in the presidential palace and the other who's on welfare. Guess who's unhappy and wants a divorce? President Ali Bongo Ondimba lived in L.A. when his dad was the president. He met a woman named Inge in 1991 and married her 3 years later. They had 3 kids and lived lavishly ... private jets, mansions, cooks, the works. In fact, in 2006, Inge was featured on a VH1 show -- 'Really Rich Real Estate' -- where she bid $25 mil on a Malibu mansion.
But then Ali's dad died and he became President of Gabon, which required him to move back to his homeland. Inge followed him but claims her life was a nightmare. She says witch doctors convinced her husband she was crazy and as a result she was beaten, mutilated and kidnapped.

Inge escaped and came back to L.A. Ali got married to another woman and Inge says he completely cut her off financially. Inge says she hasn't received a dime since 2008.

Fast forward to September 2015 ... Inge, who says she's living on welfare, filed for divorce. In the legal docs -- obtained by TMZ -- Inge says she and her 16-year-old son are living on $524 a month in public assistance.

She's asking for full custody and spousal support.
There's an obvious dilemma -- California courts are going to have a problem getting jurisdiction over the president of an African country.
But Ali may have a problem, too. He married a much younger woman, Sylvia Valentin, and it looks like polygamy may be an issue.

Blogger allegedly arrested on the order of Gov. Amosun released from police custody

Posted: 30 Sep 2015 08:32 AM PDT

The Chief Magistrate Anthony Araba of the Magistrate court in Isabo, Abeokuta today finally signed the bail bond of the arraigned blogger, Emmanuel Ojo Adediran, who was arrested over the weekend over a Facebook post alleging that governor Amosun's wife was involved in money laundering in London. At around 3:00pm, Ojo was released from the remand prison to his team of lawyers.

His release however didn't come without an event. The counsel to the Nigeria Police approached the court to request that his bail bond should not be signed as the police isn't sure of the sureties provided by the defendant even after confirming the authenticity of the properties presented.

Magistrate Anthony however ruled in favour of the defendant stating that he can 'no longer be pushed around'.

Do not abuse or insult Buhari - PDP tells Nigerians

Posted: 30 Sep 2015 08:20 AM PDT

PDP has called on all Nigerians to show some respect to the office of the President. In their independence message to Nigerians, the party said
"The PDP urges all citizens to have full respect for the office and person of the symbol of the leadership of our great country, the President. The President can be constructively criticized, but under no circumstance should he be abused or insulted in any way and under any guise whatsoever. On this note therefore, we expect those around our dear President to be cautious and desist from actions and utterances that tend to set him up for public ridicule"
Full text of their independence message signed by Olisa Metuh after the cut ...

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) charges Nigerians to use the occasion of the nation's 55th Independence Anniversary to rekindle the spirit of patriotism, while exhibiting actions that promote democratic ideals and peaceful co-existence at all levels in the country. The party said the occasion reminds of Nigeria's common root and destiny as well as her resilience and determination to succeed in all spheres of life as a strong, united and prosperous nation, irrespective of her challenges. The PDP, in a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh on Wednesday, congratulated the citizens for keeping faith in the Nigerian project and working together in building a strong nation and one of the fastest growing economies in the world. The party however urged Nigerians to use the anniversary to recommit to respecting their leaders at the local government, state and national levels, while paying adequate reverence to national symbols and institutions.

"In this regard, the PDP urges all citizens to have full respect for the office and person of the symbol of the leadership of our great country, the President. The President can be constructively criticized, but under no circumstance should he be abused or insulted in any way and under any guise whatsoever. "On this note therefore, we expect those around our dear President to be cautious and desist from actions and utterances that tend to set him up for public ridicule", the party stressed. The party congratulated the nation for giants strides achieved since independence, especially within the 16 years under the PDP led-administration, during which enviable milestones were recorded in critical sectors of the polity. It assured that even in opposition, it would continue to ensure that the country is not dragged back to the dark years of dictatorship by firmly defending the tenets of democracy and provisions of the constitution.
The party insisted that the feat achieved through the successful conduct of 2015 general elections and the smooth transition, all resulting from the democratic disposition of PDP leaders, must be sustained, as the country cannot afford to degenerate from its globally acclaimed democratic credentials. It also commended the military for the success recorded in the fight against insurgency in the country even as it commiserated with all those affected by the senseless acts of terrorism and violence. It also charged those behind the bloodletting to have a rethink and understand that their actions cannot be justified under any guise. The leadership of the PDP prayed for abiding peace in the country and wished the government and people of Nigeria, happy independence celebrations.
Signed: Chief Olisa Metuh National Publicity Secretary
