‘Rele & Samsung launch private opening of exhibition, interactions: 'Crossing Lines’

Lagos's new destination of modern and contemporary art, Rele Gallery in collaboration with Samsung Electronics West Africa, recently launched its most impressive exhibition yet. The exhibition titled: 'Interactions: Crossing Lines' featured visual artistry's powerful duo: Soji Adesina and Uthman Wahaab. 





The body of work by Wahaab and Adesina deconstructed the concept of how drawings can interact with the gallery space. The drawings were in rhythm and movement, travelling seamlessly from the drawing surface of canvas and paper, to the walls of the gallery and finally into digital spacesvia Samsung tablet devices. Samsung has in the past shown itself committed to creative disruptions, that changes the way we think, engage the world around us. It is the first tech company in Nigeria to collaborate with art on such a scale. 

The exhibition as a whole was an immediate conversation starter for all the guests in attendance- Lagos's art cognoscenti, collectors, auctioneers, critics, artists, enthusiasts – and most importantly for Rele and Samsung, those who were encountering art on such a scale for the first time. Rele's mission is to trigger a newfound appreciation for the arts and Samsung's mobile technology has proven to be a timely enabler of this cause. 

The exhibition was launched in line with an art competition, #TechMeetsArtNG, details of which can be found on www.techmeetsart.ng. Submission deadline for the art contest has been extended till 21st of September, 2015 whilst the exhibition will be open to the public till 27th of September 2015. Prospective participants for the competition can definitely draw inspiration from the artwork of Wahaab and Adesina.

Refugee tripped by a camerawoman gets coaching job in Spain. Real Madrid invites him and children to their next match

When God wants to change your life! Abdul Mohsen, who was kicked and tripped by a Hungarian journalist, has been offered a coaching job at a school for football coaches in Spain. The offer also comes with a house and temporal transport. After finding out that he was a coach at Syria's biggest clubs before the war, members of Spain's Cenafe national football coaching center decided to help him start a new life.


Cenafe dispatched a Moroccan trainee to help Abdul Mohsen and his sons get to Spain. They had been staying at a hotel in Munich, Germany. The 52-year-old revealed that his wife Muntaha, 38, eldest son Almuhannad, 18, and their 13-year-old daughter Doua'a, had stayed in Mersin, Turkey, where the family fled from Syria in 2012.

Cenafe president Miguel Angel Galan said that the fact that the 52-year-old was a football coach led to "solidarity because we are colleagues."

Meanwhile, Real Madrid Football Club has invited Abdul and his children to attend their next match this coming weekend. "It's a dream to be here. Thank you Real Madrid. Thank you Spain!" Abdul said.

This is the moment former supermodel Tyra Banks broke down in tears on the set of her new show, FabLife over her struggles to conceive. She will be 42 in December. Speaking on the issue, co-host Chrissy Teigen also opened up about her own struggles for years to start a family, revealing she has seen fertility doctors.
"I will say honestly John and I were having trouble. We would have had kids five, six years ago if it happened,' said Chrissy. But my gosh it's been a process. We've seen fertility doctors and once you open up about those things to other people you learn that a lot of other people in your life are seeing these people and they have this shame about it.

'It's kind of crazy because I can't imagine being that nosy to be like, 'So, when are the kids coming?' because who knows what somebody's going through,' she said.
'So anytime somebody asks if I'm going to have kids I'm just like, 'One day you're going to ask that to the wrong girl who is really struggling and it's going to be really hurtful to them and I hate that. Stop asking me.'
Tyra and her beau Erik Asla, who have been trying to get pregnant, then broke down and said
"I'm so tired of seeing on my social media, "why don't you have kids, why don't you have kids? You don't know, you don't know what I'm going through. You have no idea. I've had some not-so-happy, traumatic moments. The one thing that I was not happy about in my life was that I did not have kids,' she said. 
She still hopes to have children one day...

Toyin Nwosu, the wife of the Deputy Managing Director of The Sun newspapers who was released by her abductors this morning, is pictured 2nd right above with family and friends at her home in Okota, Lagos. According to Mr Nwosu, he got a call from his wife's abductors this morning, asking him to go and pick her up at a certain location. The Akwa Ibom state police command have arrested 66 year old father of two, Pa Sunday Etukudoh pictured above, an indigine of Nnung Ikot Abianga in Oruk Anam Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State for raping and impregnating the 13 year old daughter of his cousin, Miss Ofonime Saturday Okon.

According to Daily Independent,  Ofonime, a JSS1 student of Southern Annang Comprehensive Secondary School, Ikot Okono, Oruk Anam LGA who moved into Etukodoh's house as a maid, was subjected to repeated rape and molestation after Pa Etukudoh used a knife to threaten her the first time.

Etukudoh who confessed to having sex with the young girl four times before getting her pregnant, pleaded not to be charged to court and promised to take care of Ofonime and their unborn child.
"I have only two children and I will be very happy if her family would allow her to give birth to this child for me, I will take good care of her, I promise. Please don't charge me to court, I would die there. I will give them whatever they want"he said.

Police arrest Indian man in Lagos over visa scam

A Dubai-based Indian man, Mohammed Shazul, has been arrested by the Nigerian police for procuring a Dubai visa using the name of his former business partner,  Ayodotun Babalola. Ayodotun (pictured above) had petitioned the Nigerian police after he discovered that his former business partner who he fell out with after he demanded for 49% share of the company which they ran together, had used his name to obtain a Dubai visa, thereby preventing him to apply for a visa.



"I applied for a visa to Dubai only to discover that my name had been used to obtain a visa without my knowledge. The company is Citadel Toss Company. When I contacted Citadel Toss Company, they told me they have strict instruction from their client, (the suspect) not to hand over the visa to anybody even if the owner comes until further instruction from him. Their plan was to ensure that I don't get visa to Dubai to do my business. I see my visa as my personal document and on that note I couldn't travel again because I was restricted. I had to petition the Inspector-General of Police to complain officially to seek redress on the matter,'' Ayo said in his petition which was obtained by NAN.
Police say the Indian national and some of his accomplice have been arrested and are currently being investigated
