Bayelsa Poll: 11 parties adopt Dickson, says he has done well

Eleven political parties in Bayelsa State under the aegis of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) and the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) on Thursday shut the gate against governorship aspirants in the state with the adoption of Governor Seriake Dickson as their candidates for the December 5 general election.
 
They are African Democratic Congress (ADC), KOWA Party, Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA), Action Alliance (AA), Accord Party (P), Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN), APA, Hope Democratic Party (HDP), Youths Democratic Party (YDP), Independent Democrats (ID). Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN) and New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP)

They premised their action on the fact that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Governor Seriake Dickson did very well adding that with him, "Bayelsa is in a safe hands."
The Chairmen of the Seven Political Parties led by the CNPP Chairman, Luky Akpeli and the Treasurer of IPAC and state chairman of New Nigerian Peoples Democratic Party, Inko Namatebe, explained that the parties adopted Dickson because of his sterling leadership qualities.
Namatebe said with Dickson securing second tenure the state would remain in safe hands.
He stated that the governor had performed very well in his first tenure, adding that it was only necessary that he was allowed to continue in office for another term."One of the things that Governor Dickson has delivered on is security."He has put in place a frame work for data gathering in an organised and empirical manner in crime", he said.
Namatebe listed other areas in which Dickson had made modest achievements to include, education, infrastructure, diversification of the state economy, tourism, health and human capacity development.
Others are promotion of good governance, judiciary, transport, agriculture, power and sport development, "If one person in a single administration is able to achieve these developmental strides, what else do Bayelsans want if not to return our governor for second term?
"We urge all and sundry to support Governor Dickson for a second term in office because Bayelsa will remain in safe hands", he said

Arase, fdc NPM coordinated both aerial and land operations to ensure the freedom of the former presidential candidate of the SDP. 20yr old woman charged with assault for throwing boiling hot water on ex and two others

Isaac Ngobe, aged 27, from Phiva near Malalane in Mpumalanga, SA, claimed his ex poured an entire five litres of boiling water over him as he relaxed with his cousins at home two weeks ago...
 "We broke up three weeks ago. I thought things would be civil between us," he said. "I was surprised when she came into the room with a bucket full of hot water. She said, 'Yeah, you Clever!' and then threw the hot water in my face. When she tossed it the second time, it all landed on my 'manhood', scalding it badly. My two cousins were also burned."
Isaac said she also calls him from private numbers, sends him text messages and tells him about his every move and who he's with. "Just last week she threatened to kill an innocent woman I met on the street and chatted with," he said. "She sent an SMS that read: 'dis jst a sweet warning farm boi. dnt worry abt ur little prostitute . . .' and, 'dnt push me far . . . i kill once I wl kill again. i wl mk ur lyf lv in hell dnt try me. Ur galfrnd its beautiful I knw wher 2 gt her. if u wnt her disapper continu being wit her'." Isaac's cousin Amos Ngomane (30), who was also burnt, said: "I lost my job as a result of my burn wounds and I can't see clearly." Melusi Ngomane (16) was also burned.

When phoned, the woman said she would speak to Daily Sun when she is ready. Lieutenant Mzwandile Nyambi said the woman was arrested on Friday for assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.

She appeared in court on Monday, September 21 and was released on R500 bail. She will appear in court again on 5 October.

Over 700 people died today in Hajj stampede in Mecca. Thousands were walking to the 'stoning of the devil' ritual when a sudden surge in the crowd caused many to fall. Following a tip off by well meaning citizens, troops of 3 Division yesterday swooped over and dismantled a Boko Haram fuel dump located at Ladu Dumbawa ward, Guzamala Local Government Area of Borno State. It would be recalled that suspected Boko Haram terrorists had abducted 7 persons in Gajabere and took them to the same location.

Those kidnapped were 3 local wards heads called "Lawani" and their respective deputies, as well as the Chief Imam of the town.


However, through sheer guts and bravery, 3 of them escaped and reported the matter to the security which led to the rescue of the rest and discovery of the well concealed terrorists fuel depot which was also destroyed by troops. The troops have further blocked the terrorists supply route that led to Babangida in Tarmuwa Local Government Area of Yobe State where they mostly get the supplies. Troops are intensifying efforts to identify and neutralise all Boko Haram logistic bases to further constrict the terrorists and hasten their total defeat. Citizens are please requested to furnish the military and security agencies with information on all known terrorsists location, routes, suppliers of fuel, food, clothing and any good or service to the terrorists.

Prettiest bride! Bride rushes to save a dying man in her wedding dress (photos)

A young nurse has been given the name 'prettiest bride' by Chinese media after trying to save a man on a beach in China. According to People's Daily Online, 25-year-old Guo Yuanyuan was shooting her wedding photos on a beach in Dalian, north east China, on September 21 when she heard a man had drowned. Wearing her beautiful dress, she rushed to his side and began to administer CPR. For 20 minutes she battled to save his life, but sadly the man did not regain consciousness.



Witnesses say that they spotted a man, who remains unidentified, in the sea who was waving and shouting for help around 10am on September 21. Several swimmers on the beach swam out and managed to the pull the man, who was already sinking, from the waters. Guo joined and tried to save the man's life. Her wedding dress, make-up and nails were ruined but witnesses applauded the nurse's determination.

Unfortunately, when the ambulance eventually arrived, paramedics found it was too late to save the man. He was confirmed to have died of heart attack. Guo's proud fiancé, named Xiao Liu, said: "She enjoys helping people normally and that's what I like about her." He also said she had run faster than him when the incident occurred.

Images of the nurse saving the man quickly spread across Chinese social media where she was given the title of the 'prettiest bride'. "At that time, I only remember that I was a nurse. My career's responsibilities are higher than that of a bride." Guo said.

2 secondary school students burn to death in Nassarawa

2 students of the Baptist High School Marke, in Kokona Local Government Area of Nassarawa state, Joseph Idris, SS1, and Rimande Luka, Jss 2, were burnt to death in a fire incident that occurred at about 2am yesterday September 23rd. One of the school's student hostel, the Red House hostel, which accommodates about 50 students, was engulfed in the fire incident, trapping many of them. It is believed that the fire started after an electric fault.

A parent to one of the deceased, Mr. Luka, father to Rimande Luka said he brought his 2 children to the school two days before the ugly incident. He described the incident as the will of God and said he will not withdraw his other child from the school.

Update on fake doctor who sold baby to childless couple for N300k

Olawale Omolaja (right) was arrested by men of the Lagos State Police Command for selling a week-old baby for N300,000 to a childless couple. Omolaja was arrested along with a couple Dele and Radiat Onogbile, following a tip-off.He reportedly sold the baby to the couple after they paid him N136,000 as an advance. Left is the biological mother of the baby sold.
 All the suspects were caught after the couple's landlady in the Mile 12 suburb of Lagos discovered that the woman had a new born baby without being pregnant. She was said to have notified the Ketu Police Division of the suspicious presence of a new born baby in the couple's home. Upon interrogation, it was discovered that Mr Omolaja, billed the couple N300,000 for the baby. 

Further investigation revealed that the baby's mother, Idiat Babatunde, a student at the Offa Polytechnic in Kwara State, initially claimed said she gave Mr Omolaja her baby in order to go and complete her clearance in school,it appears she knew about the sale of her child. Idiat, 39, claimed she left the baby in Mr Omolaja's care because he's a doctor and a friend to her husband.
 
It was also gathered that Idiat collected N70,000 from the 136,000 before leaving for school. She was said to have given the baby up because her supposed husband, Akiola, abandoned her after impregnating her and relocated to Rivers State.
 
Unable to fend for the child a week after it was born, she handed over the baby to Mr Omolaja, who has been the Onogbile's doctor since 2009. Their marriage was at the brink of collapse as a result of childlessness and that they were separated until the baby was handed over to them on September 14. Idiat said:
     "I gave birth in September 5 and on September 13, I gave the baby to Dr Omolaja because I needed to go back to school in order to complete my clearance so that I can go for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) with the next batch. I gave him the baby because I was having issues with my husband and we have been separated. I planned to spend two weeks in school and two weeks in Lagos but that same week that I went to school, I received a call that I should come and identify my baby at Ketu police station. I was surprised because I did not know what my baby could be doing in Ketu."
The childless couple said they repeatedly asked Mr Omolaja about the mother of the child but he told them that the baby's biological mother was dead. Police say all the arrested persons will be charged to court immediately after the current Sallah holidays.

Official blames Hajj stampede on 'some pilgrims from Africa's as death toll reaches 717

The head of the Central Hajj Committee, Prince Khaled al Faisal, has blamed the stampede in Mecca today on "some pilgrims from African nationalities'' as the number of pilgrims that have died has risen to 717. It is believed that the numbers may still rise. The stampede took place at the point of a ritual called 'stoning the devil'. Over 800 people were injured. Two million Muslims from around the world are in Mecca for the Hajj

Doyin Okupe shares his thoughts on Saraki's travail, says it could cost Nigeria politically

Former Presidential spokesperson to ex-president Jonathan, Doyin Okupe took to his Facebook page to express his fears over the current travails of the senate president Bukola Saraki at the Code of Conduct Tribunal. Okupe in his post said it portends danger for Nigeria. What he wrote below..
To ordinary watchers of Nigerian politics, the on going ordeal of the Senate President, Dr saraki may be an interesting soap opera.But to more discerning minds it is nothing short of a tragic comedy. Over the years Nigerian politicians fail over and over again to convince anybody that they actually learnt anything from our checkered political history. This is why we have had many Republics in our national history.
Wiston Churchill said " failure to act when action would have been simple and effective, lack of good reasoning, and confusion of counsel, all these lead to endless repetition of history." I am personally not a supporter of Dr Saraki and for good reason. He spearheaded the demolition of the pdp and the eventual catastrophic electoral misfortune of the Goodluck Jonathan 's Presidency. Neither am I a detractor of the Senate President. However as a veteran politician I accept that all is fair in love and in war and as they say theend justifies the means. But what is currently going on is ominous and dangerous and will require Wisdom and extreme tact from all the dramatis personnel.
I did in the past predict that the APC will break up, but that was before the APC formed the government. Now that they are in government, it is not in my interest or that of any reasonable or patriotic Nigerian to wish that they break up. A break up of the APC now has the capacity to undermine the current political process and the entire political dispensation we are passing through to the detriment of the country and the innocent masses. As it is now, while the law must be allowed to take its course, men with less passion, and more sense on ALL sides must rise to the occasion to manage this delicate matter in the overall interest of our Nation, our democracy and our people. Remembering always that an ill wind does not blow anyone any good.
