| Man kills wife, 3 others with pestle in Sokoto State Posted: 21 Aug 2016 12:52 PM PDT  A man identified as Taiwo Adio allegedly murdered his wife and three others with a pestle in Sokoto State on Saturday, August 20th. The spokesman of the Sokoto State Police Command, El-mustapha Sani, who confirmed the incident in a statement made available to newsmen in the state, said the incident occurred at the old Airport Area of Sokoto city. The victims were Yemisi Adio, 43, Rachael Adewole ,42, Dennis Adewole, 10, and Esther Badelu,14, all from the same address. The pestle has been recovered as an exhibit and the being investigated by the command's Criminal Investigation Department. "All the corpses has been deposited at the morgue of the Usman Danfodio University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto, for post mortem," he added |

| Woman kidnapped and raped for nine months says her kidnapper's desires were fuelled by porn Posted: 21 Aug 2016 12:22 PM PDT   Speaking about her horrific ordeal in an anti-porn campaign video Elizabeth, now 28, said her kidnapper, Brian Mitchell's passion for porn made things worse for her. She added that when he watched the videos it "just led to him raping me more". Ms Smart was kidnapped by demented Mitchell at the age of 14 when he and his wife Wanda Barzee broke into her home in Utah, USA, and snatched her from her room. She was then repeatedly raped over a nine month period and was forced to watch sexually explicit films. Smart has now argued that Mitchell, who was 57, was fuelled by his passion for porn when meted out the horrific abuse. She said: "All I know is that pornography made my living hell worse, It just led to him raping me more, more than he already did, which was a lot. "Looking at pornography wasn't enough for him. Having sex with his wife after looking at pornography, it wasn't enough for him. And then it led him to finally going out and kidnapping me. He just always wanted more. I can't say that he would not have gone out and kidnapped me had he not looked at pornography."Ms Smart's horrific ordeal came to end when a biker alerted police after spotting Mitchell travelling with two people in Utah.   Mitchell is now serving a life sentence for the abuse, his mentally unstable wife Wanda Barzee was sentenced to 15 years for aggravated kidnapping. The pair were both initially ruled unfit to go on trial because of their mental health. Mitchell's defence team argued he was not guilty by reason of insanity. Barzee pleaded guilty. | Photos: RRS nabs "Legion Officer" for stealing motorcycles Posted: 21 Aug 2016 11:33 AM PDT   The suspect, Umam Hrmid, 48, from Borno, a 2LT of Nigerian Legion, Lagos State Command, was arrested on Friday evening at about 10:30 p.m. by RRS operatives in Agege after dispossessing one Amin Al–Hassan of his motorcycle. The suspect who was working with his accomplice, Tijani Bashir, now at large, had accosted his victim, Al–Hassan, at Total Filling Station, Agege and told him that he was a policeman attached to the Lagos State Taskforce on Special Offences. He told his victim that he was impounding his motor cycle for plying restricted area and for operating at prohibited hour. Bewildered, Al–Hassan began to plead for negotiation but Hrmid told him to bring N20, 000:00 but the victim could only produce N5,000:00, which the suspect rejected. "When he refused to accept the N5,000:00, he mounted the bike and rode it towards Iyana Ipaja. I begged him but he told me to get down from the bike because I sat behind him while his partner rode the bike they brought", Al–Hassan explained. ''I forced the bike to a stop by removing its key from the ignition, and I got down.... We were arguing when two passers-by joined us and they requested for his identity card when he told them that he was a policeman with the Lagos State Taskforce.... Reluctantly, he flashed his ID card before them but one of them was so swift to snatch it from him. Then, he began to chase the guy, who quickly ran towards RRS patrol team nearby who arrested him and collected the dagger he was holding."  At the RRS's Headquarters, three other victims from whom Hrmid had collected bikes weeks before he was caught on Wednesday, came with particulars of their bikes, alleging that Hrmid, along with an accomplice, whom they described took their bikes. The victims, Shuaib, Abdullahi, Umaru Hassan and Salisu Umaru, stated that the suspect collected their motor cycles in a spate of three weeks, and that one his victims was shot at a close range in the cheek at Shoretire Street, Agege. One of the victims, Shuaib Abdullahi explained that the suspect at around 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday last week, took his bike, FKJ 259 QA, Boxer model, from him, under the pretext that he was taking him to Taskforce Office. "He drove me to Ile–Zik before threatening me to get down or he would kill him at the deserted place. I requested for his number and he gave me a fake number. I called the number immediately he left but the number didn't go.... I learnt he was arrested yesterday, that was why we came to RRS to collect our okada from him," he said.The suspect, however, failed to deny the allegations of the three other victims when they confronted him. Speaking on the development, the Police PPRO, SP, Dolapo Badmos confirmed the arrest of the suspect, stressing that his arrest might help shed more light on reported cases of motor cycles theft in Agege and its environs. The suspect has been transferred to Special Anti-Robbery Squad(SARS) for further investigations. |
| Posted: 21 Aug 2016 10:56 AM PDT  A 22-year-old Indian man named Suraj Mahto who left his wife, Lalita for his 42-year-old mother-in-law, Asha Devi is now seeking a divorce after realising he made a huge mistake. It all began when Mrs Devi went to stay with her daughter and her son-in-law in Bahir, she took on the role of caregiver when Mahto fell ill and the two hit it off from there. When she returned to her house, they still kept in touch, he would call her and they would talk for hours on the phone, he also visited her at her home. Lalita got to know of the affair and told her mother to stay away but she was too besotted with her son-in-law and refused. Even her husband could make her see reason. Eventually, despite the objections of villagers, the couple eloped and married on June 1 this year. The union has proved to be a very brief one, two months after tying the knot, the unusual couple are back and pleading for forgiveness. According to Gulf news Mr Mahto reportedly said: 'I have come to realise my folly now. I admit I have committed the mistake but will never repeat in future. Now, I no longer treat her as my wife. Rather, I have started paying her regard as a mother.' He said he would go on bended knee and beg Lalita to have him back. The couple have a son together. Mrs Devi said of Mr Mahto: 'No longer do I treat him as my husband but as a son-in-law. We have already a filed divorce petition in the court and I want to return to my husband as soon as possible.' |
| Photos: 51 killed, 94 injured after child suicide bomber aged 12-14 attacks wedding party in Turkey Posted: 21 Aug 2016 10:38 AM PDT  At least 51 people were killed and over 94 injured when a child suicide bomber aged between 12 and 14 attacked a wedding party in the Turkish city of Gaziantep late on Saturday, August 20. The attack was the deadliest in a series of bombings in Turkey this year. President Tayyip Erdogan described the attack as an attempt by Islamic State extremists to destabilize the country by exploiting ethnic and religious tensions. "Initial evidence suggests it was a Daesh attack," Erdogan said in Istanbul on Sunday, using an Arabic name for the hardline Sunni Islamist group. He said 69 people were in hospital and 17 were "heavily injured". Islamic State has been blamed for other similar attacks in Turkey, often targeting Kurdish gatherings in an effort to inflame ethnic tensions. The deadliest was last October, when suicide bombers killed more than 100 people at a rally of pro-Kurdish and labour activists in Ankara. The pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) said the wedding party was for one of its members. The groom was among those injured, but the bride was not hurt. The bomb went off as guests spilled out into the streets of the city close to the Syrian border after the traditional henna night party, when guests have their hands and feet painted. Women and children, including a three-month-old baby, were among the dead, witnesses said. A destroyed suicide vest was found at the blast site, officials said. Blood and burn marks stained the walls of the narrow lane where the blast hit. Women in white and checkered scarves wept outside the morgue waiting for word on missing relatives. "The celebrations were coming to an end and there was a big explosion among people dancing," said 25-year-old Veli Can. "There was blood and body parts everywhere. We want to end these massacres," witness Ibrahim Ozdemir said. "We are in pain, especially the women and children." Hundreds gathered for funerals on Sunday, with coffins draped in the green of Islam. But some ceremonies would have to wait because many victims were blown to pieces and DNA tests would be needed to identify them, security sources said. "Every type of death is painful. But it is even more painful when it comes with religious slogans. It is even more painful when they mix religion with politics," said Omer Emlik, who said he was an uncle of two of the victims. | Enugu Police smashes notorious fake prophecy syndicate used by pastors to grow their ministries Posted: 21 Aug 2016 10:27 AM PDT  According to statement issued today August 21, by the Command, the suspects identified as Obi Ejike from Ubaho Okija in Ihiala local Government Area of Anambra state, Kuku Mary from Ijebuode Ogun state, Oluwakemi Joy from Ojo Lagos State, Nwosu Chizoba from Umunze in Anambra state and Peter Uchechi from Ebonyi state were nabbed on their way to a church/Ministry in Abakiliki and in Enugu to join in the fake prophecy deal. It was further gathered that luck ran out of the syndicate as confusion broke out at a bus stop between them leading to some arguments and consequently attracted the attention of security operatives very close to the arena who suspected the scenario and intervened and on instant inquiry,the duo of Obi Ejike and Oluwakemi Joy were speaking at variance but further interrogation conducted immediately revealed that they are in for nefarious activities and eventually the other group billed for Abakiliki church/ministry prophecy were trailed and nabbed at P&T bus stop while waiting for bus to Abakiliki. One of the suspects Peter Uchechi(F) maintained that they were recruited in large numbers and kept in house at Onitsha, Anambra state from there they shuttle to various states of the country to confirm a prophecy for the purpose of winning more souls for the said church or ministry and that they are usually paid through their coordinator who hired the house and kept them there. According to her, they can be detailed to go to any state but the number of the link man in the said church/ministry is usually provided to them for easy connectivity on arrival and that they usually dialogue with the link man to the pastor of the church/ministry on the shape the job will take. She went ahead to reveal that they usually state their names,nature of problem they have and other necessary information which is given to the pastor of the church/ministry for his guidance and during the prophetic hours,she will be among the people with the said problem that will come out. The pastor then using the said information prophecy and she confirms that before the congregation and she will be touched and she will fall and the pastor proclaims the problem is all over and that she has received her healing and that way,members of the congregation will believe that the pastor is powerful and a man of God and this will attract more members to the church. "Some Pastors use us to grow their church/ministry and we are paid later through our coordinator depending your role." concludes Uchechi. On his part, Obi Ejike confirmed their illicit deal and maintained that he works hand in hand with the coordinator and he is the link of the people for Abakiliki and Enugu Job. He maintained that he joined the lucrative Prophecy job after he lost his business to the activities of fraudsters in lagos and then decided to relocate to Onitsha where he joined the prophesy deal and recruitment of candidates. He however was remorseful on the ground that he was not doing a moral thing. Nwosu chizoba from Umunze equally corroborated all the stories as told by Uchechi peter and Obi Ejike pointing out that she is a mother of one which she begat out of wedlock before joining the business which she initially started at Abuja before moving to Onitsha. Oluwakemi Joy and Kuku Mary, both mothers of four children each and separated from their husbands joined the lucrative business through their friend who linked them to the coordinator. |

Most of the frameworks and objectives are clearly stated in various reports, declarations and recommendations of the likes of the Sir.Henry Willinks minority rights reports of pre-independence Nigeria (1957-8), The Kaiama Declaration document, The General Alexander Ogomudia report, The Leedum Mittee headed, Niger Delta Technical Committee report and restructuring to fiscal federalism. We have resolved to reject any idea of the peace of our times; we want the peace with honor this time around! Our advice to our Niger Delta elders and genuine stakeholders is that, whenever this inhuman project called Nigeria and her government is ready for dialogue/negotiations with them, this mandate should be treated with that care as driving a vehicle like that of a truck laden with fire. | Bayelsa state Chief Judge's son dies while swimming in a pool in Abuja Posted: 21 Aug 2016 05:38 AM PDT  After paying a condolence visit to the Chief Judge at her residence in Yenagoa earlier today, Seriake said the circumstances under which Wariebi died was questionable and called for a detailed investigation. He said the State government will collaborate with the Police and other relevant agencies to unravel the real cause of his death. He described the deceased as a focused and promising young man who was clearly preparing to make a wonderful career in the law profession, adding that his demise remains a painful loss to the Abiri family and the State in general. Dickson urged the family to see what has happened as the will of God and prayed God to strengthen them and grant them the grace and fortitude to bear the loss. "As a Government, be rest assured that, we will stand with you shoulder to shoulder in this very very challenging period, especially in working with the Police and other relevant agencies of the Government to unearth the real cause of his death", he stated. |
