Posted: 25 Aug 2016 01:45 PM PDT

Ondo State Police Command on Thursday, August 25, rescued a 4-year-old girl who was caged in Akure. The girl, a pupil of Temiloluwa Nursery and Primary school, Imafon, Akure North Local Government Area, was rescued by the personnel attached to the Juvenile Welfare Centre (JVC) of the command.

Ondo State Police Commissioner, Hilda Ibifuro-Harrison, who confirmed the arrest to journalists from her office in Akure, said the culprit identified as Mary Matthew, a foster parent of the victim. She stated that Mrs. Matthew and her husband alleged that the young girl was possessed.

"On receipt of the information, personnel attached to Juvenile Welfare Centre (JVC) visited the scene and met the girl in the cage as reported. She was immediately rescued and taken to the Police Clinic for proper medical attention. The culprit was paraded at the Ondo State Police Headquarters Command on Igbatoro road in Akure," Ms Ibifuro-Harrison said.

Narrating how she was severely abused by her foster parents, the victim said she made several failed attempts to run away because she was afraid of being killed.

"This wicked woman always tied me on my hands and forced me inside the cage while she flogged me with a horse whip every day," the little girl said.

Mrs Matthew, a local farmer from Enugu State denied mistreating the little girl, accused her of being a witch and claimed to have taken care of the girl since the death of the girl's biological parents.

"I didn't put her in any cage. The place I locked her is my small shop and I always put her in the place anytime am going to the farm for cultivation," she claimed.

The Police said the culprit will be charged to the court along with her husband after investigation.

Bride-to-be cries after Groom spends £14k to surprise her with Roman Empire themed-wedding filled with battle scenes (photos)

Posted: 25 Aug 2016 11:50 AM PDT

Zoe, 23, dreamed of having an indoor wedding with a classic, girly theme but her groom Matthew, 25, had other ideas, and decided to stage an outdoor, Roman Empire themed affair featuring a battle at an old, crumbling amphitheatre in a muddy field on TV show 'Don't tell the bride'.

Despite the pair being together since they were 12, Matthew had no plans to spend the £14,000 budget on the wedding of his fiancée's dreams.
Zoe said "My standards are quite high, I do like everything to look nice and clean and pretty, only the best will do."
Speaking about her wedding, she stresses:
"If I was to walk into my dream venue I'd want orange and pink, and glitter and gems everywhere. Anything vintage, cute and fluffy. I wouldn't be happy if it was outside and it was raining, I wouldn't want to be cold."
Speaking about his wedding plans, Matthew says: "Because I love history I want to give Zoe a Roman-themed wedding where all the men are dressed as Roman legionnaires and Zoe's gonna be brought in on a horse-drawn, Roman-style chariot.
"All our family and friends are going to be around us, as the spectators would have been."
As an extra "surprise", the wedding will then transform into a battle, with guests – like Zoe's dad – dressed in full suits of Roman armour holding real weapons.
Matthew admits: "It's a bit dangerous, but you need a bit of danger I think."
Matthew then chose an Indian restaurant as a reception venue and told his bride to pack casual, comfy clothes and "maybe make-up" for her hen.
When Zoe saw the wedding was Roman themed, she couldn't believe her eyes and started crying, even the bridesmaids were shocked at such 'poor' planning with £14,000 by Matthew.

"I'm an Aussie chick, I've been here all my life. I know what hijab means. I know what veil means. I know what Islam means. And I know who I am."

"I Almost Gave up on Acting but Look at Me Now"- Omoni Oboli

Posted: 25 Aug 2016 07:54 AM PDT

For Award-winning Nollywood Actress, Director and Producer, life hasn't been a bed of roses as she almost packed her bags when she returned to Nollywood years ago. The actress who decided to take a break from acting in 1996 to complete her studies and to give birth to three boys returned to Nollywood in 2009 only to see there was practically no place for her in the industry.

The delectable actress had to show doggedness and resilience in a bid to show the industry that quitting is not on the menu for her '' I did Figurine and Anchor Baby shortly after I came back, the two movies made weighty impacts in the then returning cinema culture'' Omoni recounts.

Despite the fact that she was making a re-entry into the industry, she turned down scripts that didn't align with her ideals
''I decided to take the more difficult but surer route to where I wanted, which is the route of 'only good quality jobs'. I decided with my husband and team then that if the movie production did not spark my interest in terms of a good storyline and high production value, I won't do it. It cost me a lot as I wasn't doing as many jobs as many of my colleagues then. Often, even when the money offered was very attractive, I turned down roles because the movie production was not what I wanted''.
The A-list actress whose last three movies Being Mrs Elliot, The First Lady and Wives on Strike have made box office hits with the last one becoming the third highest grossing Nollywood movie of all time at the cinema now has a new work on the horizon titled Okafor's Law.

Okafor's Law though yet-to-be-released recently got nominated at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), one of the top 5 film festivals in the world.

Speaking on the nomination, the amiable actress said
'' The selection of Okafor's Law, which is my most ambitious movie ever as an actress, producer and director, at TIFF makes me emotional and nostalgic. I remember the many nights and days of sacrifices, going the extra mile and not getting enough credit. The TIFF selection is a form of validation for my work and I am grateful to God''.
She went on to thank the cast and crew of Okafor's Law and with an emotion-laden show of gratitude, she said
''I say a huge thank you to the entire cast and crew of Okafor's Law. Words fail me in this moment, but I deeply appreciate all of them for giving me their best so that this movie turned out the way it is. If I have another chance to do this again, I will certainly do it again with this cast and crew''.
