Chris Brown & Police in standoff at his home after lady claims that he threatened her with a gun at his home

Posted: 30 Aug 2016 02:30 PM PDT

Long story short...some lady reported that Chris Brown pulled a gun on her at his home. The police have surrounded Chris' home, with helicopters flying around his house. They claim he barricaded himself at his home and refused to surrender. The stand-off has been going on for hours now. Chris has refused to leave his home and without a search warrant or Chris' permission, the police can't enter his house. A SWAT team has arrived his home. Read how TMZ is reporting the whole drama below...
Chris Brown is a suspect in a criminal assault investigation after a woman called 911 and told cops ... he threatened her with a gun ... TMZ has learned. The alleged incident went down early Tuesday morning in L.A. We're told Chris and the woman were in a home when she claims they argued and he pulled the gun.
The woman called 911 and police responded and took a report. We're told the case is under investigation and Chris is the sole suspect.

7:55 AM PT -- TMZ has learned Chris was in the house with several friends, including Ray J. They were talking and at one point Ray was getting a tattoo when some "uninvited guests" appeared inside the house and were asked to leave.
At that point, the story gets murky. The guests included a man who was invited, and two women who were not -- one of the women who'd been asked to leave is the one who made the police report, claiming Brown pulled the gun on her. Someone inside the house insists Chris was asleep the whole time.
At some point Ray J left the house and when he got to the base of the driveway, police handcuffed him and seized his BMW. They checked his ID, uncuffed him and let him go, but kept his car as evidence. He Ubered home.
At the time of this post, Chris is still in the house. He never left. Police are knocking on the door, but no one inside is responding. We don't know what police will do if he tries to leave.

8:45 AM PT -- We've learned the SWAT team is on its way to Chris' home and the LAPD is in the process of obtaining a search warrant. We're told cops want to see if a gun matching the description from the woman is in the house. As of now, Chris has not left his residence.

9:20 AM PT -- Chris is finally awake and posting videos. He's pissed about the police presence at his house and feels he's being harassed. He even dropped a "F*** tha police!"
The cops are still outside.

9:40 AM PT -- Police say they are still trying to make contact with Chris.

Update 2
The woman who called the cops on Chris Brown says the singer pulled a gun on her because she was admiring a piece of jewelry ... and afterwards his people demanded she sign a non-disclosure agreement.
Baylee Curran appeared on "TMZ Live" and said she had partied with Chris in the past and he was always nice, but this time he appeared to be out of it ... on drugs or alcohol.
She says she came to his house with a friend, spent a little time in the hot tub, and then walked back inside where a member of Chris' crew was displaying a piece of jewelry. Baylee says when she admired it the guy went nuts, and then Chris followed suit by demanding she "get the f*** out" and pointed a gun at her.
The craziest part ... as she tried to leave she says Chris' people wouldn't let her take her cell phone until she signed a non-disclosure agreement. She refused to sign, and she and her friend left.
TMZ broke the story ... Baylee, Miss California Regional 2016, called 911 and that started the standoff with Chris.
Law enforcement sources tell us Chris is about to get arrested.
Police have retrieved at least one gun, other weapons and drugs from Chris Brown's home, after Chris threw a duffel bag out the window of his home ... TMZ has learned.
TMZ broke the story ... cops raced to Chris' home early Tuesday morning after a woman called 911 and claimed he pulled a gun on her.
Police have been at the house since 3 AM and are in the process of getting a search warrant. Chris has not left the house, but multiple sources tell us he was defiant as he threw the duffel bag out the window, taunting cops and saying, "Come and get me."

Chris posted a video in which he refers to Black Lives Matter, saying "f*** the police."
Two sources on scene tells us in addition to weapons there were drugs in the duffel bag. As for the woman who called 911 ... she's a beauty pageant title holder.
11:11 AM PT -- We're live streaming outside Chris' house ... where police are waiting for him to surrender.
12:30 PM PT -- Chris' attorney Mark Geragos just arrived entered the house. We're expecting Chris to surrender sometime soon.
12:49 PM PT -- Chris' entourage has started filing out of the house. They're all lining up outside the front door with cops checking them for weapons. Still no sign of Chris yet.
At the same time ... police are holding a news conference at the base of Chris' driveway.

Nigeria and UK sign MoU for the return of looted assets

Posted: 30 Aug 2016 01:27 PM PDT

Federal Government of Nigeria and the British Government today Tuesday August 30th signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the modalities for the return of Nigerian looted assets. The move is a follow up to the agreement reached at the London anti-corruption summit in May.

The Attorney-General of the Federation, Mr Abubakar Malami, who signed on behalf of the Federal Government in Abuja, noted that the MoU reflected the willingness of both countries to continue cooperation and mutual support.

He outlined the objectives of the MoU to include the fact that the processes of returning stolen assets was a partnership recognising the interest of both countries and based on mutual understanding, confidence and trust. That both countries recognised that they have a mutual interest in ensuring that returned assets are not at risk of being misappropriated again.

"And that both countries recognised they have obligations toward their own citizens for providing such assurances. That both countries recognised the importance of ensuring that the highest possible standard of transparency and accountability are applied for the return of assets." Malami said.

He assured the international community that all funds recovered would be judiciously utilised for projects that would benefit poor Nigerians. Leader of the UK delegation, British Minister of State for Immigration, Robert Goodwill, said that the MoU provided the mechanism by which monies could be returned.

"Our ability to recover and return stolen assets should send a clear message to all who may seek to habour such assets that there is no safe haven in the U.K," he said. "We are keen to do this as soon as the necessary legal process allow. As outlined at the summit, we will be taking steps to accelerate the procedures for identification and confiscation of illegally acquired assets."

He said that they were as committed as Nigeria in ensuring that beneficial ownership of assets was made available to relevant authorities so they know who the real owners of assets held in the UK are.

"Forty jurisdictions, including British Overseas Territories and Crown Dependencies announced that they will automatically share beneficial ownership information relating to companies, trusts, foundations, Shell companies and other relevant entities and legal arrangements. It is important that everyone can see how returned assets are used to benefit Nigerians. We have therefore agreed in this MoU to be fully transparent about this."

Couple caught having sex in a field by siblings carry on sex act despite a watching crowd (photos)

Posted: 30 Aug 2016 12:47 PM PDT

Lauren Dua, 24, took her brother Lewis Overell, 20, and 14-year-old sister Libby to play popular game, Pokemon Go, at Blackheath Common in South London but were met with the 'rudest' shock of their lives as they stumbled on a man having sex with a completely naked woman on the lawn. And despite being aware that they were being watched, the couple continued the lewd act regardless.

Lauren said:
"We were just walking across Blackheath Common when my brother said 'Is that women naked over there?' and I thought he was joking but then my sister said the same thing. So I went over to have a look and could not believe that they were right and by that point a few people had gathered around still playing Pokemon and they were putting on quite a show. The couple really did not seem to be bothered at all that everyone was stood around watching them."
Lauren, a beauty therapist insists the night was one of the 'weirdest ever' and posted her shocking snaps on snapchat where they were shared more than 2,500 times before they were deleted.

Lauren continued:
"I couldn't believe it was real life – I only went out to catch a Charmander – so it was a pretty weird night in the end. They could have found a bush or something to cover up because it is a built-up area and there were plenty of people about. My sister said it was the funniest thing ever but I could not believe that it was happening. We often go out at that time around there for a Pokemon hunt but I've never seen anything like that before."

Nigerian man, 3 others arrested in Australia for allegedly importing 45.5kgs of drugs concealed in timber logs

Posted: 30 Aug 2016 12:36 PM PDT

Four men, including a 29-year-old Nigerian man faced court in Perth, Australia on Friday, 26 August 2016 for their alleged role in the importation of around 45.6 kilograms of methamphetamine concealed in timber logs.

A joint investigation involving the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and Western Australia Police (WA Police) commenced in June after a sea cargo consignment containing timber logs arrived in Perth from Africa. An x-ray examination of the consignment by Australian Border Force (ABF) officers identified concealment within nine timber logs.

ABF referred the matter to police, and a forensic examination was conducted. A total of 106 secreted packages containing around 45.6kgs of methamphetamine were detected. This amount of methamphetamine has an approximate street value of $45.6 million.

In late June, a joint agency controlled operation commenced and the consignment was delivered to an address in Baldivis, Western Australia. As a result of the operation, a 42-year-old man and a 54-year-old man were arrested and charged with attempting to possess a commercial quantity of an unlawfully imported border controlled drug, namely methamphetamine, contrary to section 307.5 Criminal Code Act 1995 (Cth), by virtue of section 11.1 of the Criminal Code Act 1995 (Cth). The maximum penalty for this offence is life imprisonment.

Subsequent enquiries revealed a further two men were allegedly involved in the importation. In late July, search warrants were conducted in Western Australia and Victoria. A 33-year-old man was arrested in Western Australia, and a 29-year-old Nigerian man was arrested in Victoria, and then extradited to Western Australia.

Both men were charged with one count of importing a commercial quantity of a border controlled drug, namely methamphetamine, contrary to section 307.1(1) of the Criminal Code Act 1995 (Cth). The maximum penalty for this offence is life imprisonment.

The 42-year-old man is due to reappear in the Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 31 August 2016. The 29-year-old, 33-year-old and 54-year-old men are due to reappear in the Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 16 November 2016.

AFP Commander Matt Rippon, State Manager WA, said close collaboration between border protection and law enforcement agencies across Australia was integral to the success of this operation.
"Strong relationships with our domestic and international partners are vital to identifying and disrupting importations of this extremely damaging drug," Commander Rippon said. "We are continuing to work together across jurisdictions and borders to break criminal networks, with our main priority being the safety of the community."
ABF Regional Commander WA Rod O'Donnell said the AFP and ABF are resolute in their commitment to stemming the flow of this illegal and dangerous drug into Australia.
"This seizure is yet another example of the ABF's success in targeting large shipments of methamphetamine arriving in air and sea cargo," Commander O'Donnell said. "A detection of this size and the subsequent Police operation has a direct benefit to the Australian community by stopping this product reaching the streets."
WA Police State Crime Assistant Commissioner Michelle Fyfe said the seized drugs had the potential to cause immense harm in the Western Australian community.
"We are pleased that this significant quantity of methamphetamine has been seized before it could reach our streets," Mrs Fyfe said.

Nigerian rapists escape punishment using money, influence and marriage

Posted: 30 Aug 2016 12:50 PM PDT

More than 100 cases of sexual assault are reported in just one state each month, yet only a handful of suspects are ever prosecuted, Phillip Obaji writes for The Guardian UK.

When 14-year-old Amina got married last year, the occasion was solemn. Rather than the flamboyance that often characterises Nigerian nuptials this was a subdued affair, attended only by a few family members and close friends.
The bride and groom knew each other, but they had not been in a relationship. Rather Amina, not her real name, was marrying one of three men who had gang-raped her in her village when she was 13 years old.
Usaini Ja'afar and his accomplices had confessed to the crime under interrogation by the Hisbah board, a religious police force responsible for the enforcement of Sharia Law in the northern Nigerian state of Kano. He pleaded for forgiveness and offered to marry Amina so as to escape punishment. Amina's father agreed and the men were allowed to walk free.
"I decided to temper justice with mercy," said Amina's father, explaining his decision not to press charges against the men who assaulted his daughter. "I allowed him to marry the girl because our consultations with our Malams [Islamic clerics] showed that there is nothing wrong about that."
Salahuddeen Armayau, who heads the Hisbah board, said the wedding had taken place last year, adding that the board had approved of the union because "the boy said he was willing to clear his mess, and even the victim's father gave his blessing".
The marriage, which has been condemned by human rights activists, is just one example of how rapists are escaping justice in northern Nigeria's commercial capital.
In a state where more than 100 cases of rape are reported each month, only a handful suspects are ever prosecuted. Authorities say the majority of rape allegations are settled before they ever reach court. Sometimes the accused get off by asking respected members of the community to testify on their behalf; sometimes they offer the family money in return for dropping the charges; sometimes they marry their victims. Even if charges are pressed, it can be hard to prosecute rape offences
"Some of the victims are shy of speaking publicly about their ordeal in the hands of their rapists for fear of being stigmatised," said Agafi Kunduli, a prominent Nigerian human rights activist. The police cannot prosecute without witnesses and this is one major reason why many rapists walk free."
Police officers have even been accused of demanding bribes from women before arresting rape suspects.
"Some victims do not trust the police," said an officer in Abuja who once worked in Kano. "We cannot blame them because even policemen are also involved in this," he said, referring to the fact that a number of Kano police officers have themselves been accused of rape.
In 2014, a police officer and four others were arrested for allegedly gang-raping a 17-year-old old at gunpoint. Last year, another officer was alleged to have raped a  seven-year-old girl at police quarters in Kano. Neither officer has yet been prosecuted.
Even in the case of rape and murder, offenders often avoid jail sentences. Murder victims include a 22-year-old pregnant woman who died after being gang-raped in her home early this year and a newlywed woman who was killed by at least one rapist in Sha'iskawa village, north of Kano state. No one has yet been prosecuted in either case.
Until last year, the maximum sentence for rape in Kano was two years, with the option of paying a fine instead. After an outcry, the government introduced a minimum sentence of 14 years life sentence in late 2015.
There is no crime of rape under Sharia law, which runs parallel to the criminal justice system in Kano, but having sex outside of marriage carries a sentence of death by stoning if the defendant is married or 100 lashes if they are not. In practice, however, the sentence is seldom enforced.
Women's rights activists have called on authorities to do more to protect women and girls from sexual violence, and to ensure that rapists face justice. They say marriage should not be used as a way to escape justice.
"We just have to keep encouraging victims to speak," said Kunduli. "No rapist should be allowed to go scot-free, even when he decides to marry the victim."
Human rights lawyer, Eno Edet, said that the legal requirements to proving sexual assault needed rethinking, as they did not take into account the particular sensitivities involved in reporting rape.
"Law makers should sit down, speak to victims, and put themselves in their shoes," said Edet, who has worked with a number of women who have been sexually assaulted. "The police should take their work seriously because rape changes lives"

Millionaire releases video of his ex-fiancee beating herself up after she accused him of attacking her

Posted: 30 Aug 2016 12:55 PM PDT

In an effort to rubbish claims of abuse made by an ex, a millionaire has released a video footage which shows the woman hitting herself in a rage.

Scott Mitchell, 45, was previously accused by ex, Mary Hunt, 29, of physical & psychological abuse, telling reporters she suffered a black eye at the hands of the Florida business man. but the video presented by Mitchell's lawyers seemingly shows Ms Hunt having a meltdown and beating herself up.

The Florida businessman previously accused Miss Hunt of stealing $2.1million worth of jewellery from the safe in his massive mansion following their split last summer.
In response she claims Mitchell gave her black eyes and bruises before breaking off their wedding in August. But Mitchell's attorney Todd Foster told FOX 13:
"The explanation for the black eye is now very different. There is no evidence that he ever beat her. This video now demonstrates that she is striking herself in the same area of the face and head that they allege Scott struck her."
Mitchell's legal team have now hired a former FBI forensic expert to study the footage.
Hunt has spoken out about the alleged abuse in the past.
She told the TV station in June: "There were so many times when I wanted to give up, but I couldn't do it anymore and I think about how much he would have wanted this."
Earlier this year, Mitchell filed a lawsuit against Hunt and her parents, The lawsuit is claiming costs to recover stolen items plus damages for a total of $4million. He claims Hunt's parents helped her hide his jewels which include 99 three-diamond necklaces, 147 gold rings and 172 loose diamonds.
Mr Mitchell's lawyers also produced CCTV footage allegedly showing Ms Hunt stealing valuables from his mansion, but Ms Hunt's lawyers have contested the images, hiring a video expert who suggested the footage could have been doctored. Ms Hunt's legal team have also released private security footage, showing Mr Mitchell having an angry meltdown on his drive way, in an attempt to demonstrate his fiery temperament.

Mitchell and Hunt dated for two years, within the time, Mitchell claimed he paid for everything, including her mortgage, credit card debt, health insurance and let her drive his 2015 Mercedes Benz.

French mayor on burkini ban: Muslims must accept our way of life, if you don't want to live the way we do, don't come!

Posted: 30 Aug 2016 09:53 AM PDT

The Mayor of the French town of Riviera, Marc Etienne Lansade has told Muslim beach goers not to come to his town if they aren't prepared to accept their way of life by not wearing burkinis to beaches.
"If you don't want to live the way we do, don't come. You have to behave in the way that people behave in the country that accepted you, and that is it," Mayor Marc Etienne Lansade told CNN.
"If you are accepted in Rome -- do like Romans do," he said, adding, "go in Saudi Arabia and be naked and see what will happen to you."

Lansade, alongside several other mayors in France maintains that burkinis have been banned in his town despite a ruling by France's highest administrative court that mayors do not have the right to outlaw burkinis.

The court ruling comes after more than 30 French towns banned the burkini, a swimsuit which covers the whole body except for the face, hands and feet and is worn mostly by Muslim women.

"Adult don't understand us" Jaden and Willow Smith open up in their first joint cover for Interview Magazine

Posted: 30 Aug 2016 09:41 AM PDT

In their first joint cover, Willow and Jaden Smith posed together for Interview magazine in a high fashion shoot and sat down with Pharrell Williams for a Q&A. The teens opened up about a wide range of topics from their parents, generational discrepancies to where they see themselves in 10 years. The siblings noted that sometimes they feel misunderstood by judgemental adults.
"It seems like they don't understand our thought process. Or, like, things have happened in the past that they are still mad about," Willow,15, said.
But that is OK as their famous parents...Will and Jada Pinkett Smith completely understand them and they couldn't be more proud of their parents.
"My parents are definitely my biggest role models. And that's where me and Willow both pull all of our inspiration from to change the world," Jaden, 18, said.
Willow:
"Growing up, all I saw was my parents trying to be the best people they could be and people coming to them for wisdom, coming to them for guidance, and them not putting themselves on a pedestal, but literally being face-to-face with these people and saying, 'I'm no better than you, but the fact that you're coming to me to reach some sort of enlightenment or to shine a light on some- thing, that makes me feel love and gratitude for you.' They always give back what people give to them. And sometimes they keep giving and giving and giving. And some people don't feel like they need to give anything back because it's like, 'Oh, if you're famous, you can just keep giving, and it doesn't matter.' It's not just about money. It's not just about giving people gifts or whatever. What my parents have given to me is not anything that has to do with money or success or anything that society says people should be focusing on—it's something spiritual that only certain people can grasp and accept. And that's how I act and move in the world today.
Jaden:
"I 100 percent agree with Willow on that one. My parents are definitely my biggest role models. And that's where me and Willow both pull all of our inspiration from to change the world. It all comes from a concept of affecting the world in a positive way and leaving it better than it was than when we came. I feel like that enters into all types of different areas because there are so many different outlets that life has to offer for us. That goes into technology, into music. That goes into science, into spirituality, into education. Where me and Willow come from, a lot of it is trying to make society more efficient, so that kids don't cry, like, 'Why do I have to go to school?' Instead, kids are like, 'Yeah! I'm so glad to go to school! I'm a better person than I was yesterday, and I can help people.'"

APC Rivers state accuses state govt of being responsible for the murder of their lawyer, Ken Atsuwete

Posted: 30 Aug 2016 09:17 AM PDT

APC Rivers state chapter has accused the state government of being behind the murder of one the state party's legal representatives, Ken Atsuwete. The deceased who was one of the lead counsel to the detained former chairman of Asari-Toru local government area, Ojukaye Flag-Amachree, was murdered on Sunday night August 28th by unknown gunmen near his residence at Aluu community in Ikwerre local government area of the state.

Deputy Chairman of APC in the state, Prince Peter Odike, made the allegation while speaking with newsmen at the party's secretariat in Port Harcourt yesterday
"The APC wishes to be on record that the Rivers State Government and their agents must be held responsible for the killing of Barrister Ken Atsuwete and the reasons for our charge are obvious and lucid. Late Ken Atswete was one of the leading counsels to APC chieftain, Hon. Ojukaye Flag-Amachree who is presently incarcerated on trumped-up charges surreptitiously inspired and driven by the Rivers State Government led by Governor Nyesom Wike. Officials of the state government have variously vowed to teach the APC and its leader, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi a lesson by jailing one of its most active leaders, Hon. Flag-Amachree. However, Ken Atswete, as counsel to Flag-Amachree, had thrown in everything into the defence of his client to the chagrin of officials of the state government who are the traducers of Ojukaye Flag-Amachree. Again, late Ken Atswete had not relented in standing with citizens and public servants against the wrongful use of state power. The many cases he has instituted in this regard attest to that fact"he said

Another militant group blow up oil facility in Delta state

Posted: 30 Aug 2016 09:00 AM PDT

An Urhobo militant group known as the Niger Delta Greenland Justice Movement, NDGJM, has blown up the Ogor-Oteri major delivery line operated by the Nigeria Petroleum Development Company and Shorelines Petroleum in the state.

The group in a statement released and signed by its leader, "Gen" Aldo Agbalaja, said they carried out the attack on the oil facility at about 3am.

The group said they will also be launching "Operation Crocodile Tears" since the military had launched "Operation Crocodile Smile" to supposedly worsen the Niger Delta crisis. Read part of their statement below...
"Recent developments around our region, especially as it concerns the issue of justice and our inalienable right to protect our heritage, have proven us right all along. Now it has become clearer who is serious about getting justice for our people and who has been using the name of the region and the destinies of all our peoples to feather their nests, raising dusts merely to harass the Nigerian state and the oil multinationals into parting with money. Although some selfish machinery, merely put together to achieve some pecuniary ends, has been parading in the name of the peoples of the Niger Delta, the Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate will not be derailed on its mission to getting justice for the people. When lines are blurred, justice is most likely to be miscarried. If there shall be a negotiation, it must be seen and indeed, must be in actual sense, be representing all the individual nations of the region equally. The drama that trailed the visit of some Ijaw royal fathers to the Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu, in Abuja recently is more reason why equity must be a factor in setting up a body that will dialogue on behalf of all the peoples of the Niger Delta." "If the said leader could not respect the royal fathers of his ethnic nation, if he is lording his will over them, what chance do other nations have, which do not have adequate representation? That said, the Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate will no longer sit quietly watching the endless harassment of our people in various parts of the region by the Nigerian military. We had once warned against the victimization and harassment of defenseless people of the region, especially in the creeks, but rather than heed, the Nigerian military has increased its presence and made life more difficult for our people. They are now killing our people on the basis of mere suspicion, this cannot continue. With the launch of their 'Operation Crocodile Smile', the Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate is also serving a notice on the commencement of our 'Operation Crocodile Tears.' It shall from now on be an eye for an eye; for every military atrocity carried out in the creeks and hinterland of the Niger Delta, the Nigerian armed forces will have the Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate to contend with. To this end, we are alerting all those working in the UQCC/UPS Erhomukokwarien in Ughelli, Eriemu Pigging Manifold in Agbarha, Otorogun Gas Plant, Olomoro Flow Station, Warri Refinery, Port Harcourt Refinery, Eleme, OB-OB and Obite gas plants in Omoku to evacuate because what is coming to those facilities are beyond what anybody has seen before. We do not want innocent blood being spilled, therefore, we advise all indigenes living in the vicinities of the facilities to relocate for the time being. The world should, however, note that the bloodbath that is about to commence in our already beaten, battered, squeezed and impoverished homeland, the Niger Delta. It is all the baby of the Nigerian government; they are the people, who are in one breath preaching resolution through dialogue and also breathing bullets and bombs on a troubled, but trusting people.
