Former Minister of Communications, Tanko Ayuba, passes on

Former Minister of Communications, and former military governor Maj. Gen Tanko Ayuba passed on today at the age of 70. Tanko who served as a Senator representing Kebbi South constituency in the Senate in 2007, died of an undisclosed ailment this afternoon, Wednesday May 25th, at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Idi Araba, Lagos. May his soul rest in peace Amen.

Two Nigerian sisters were among 386 EU-bound African migrants rescued at sea from an overcrowded tug boat by MSF Sea yesterday. The rescue agency shared the pic on twitter & wrote:

The Nigerian police have arrested five suspects namely Mohammed Zurai, Ciroma Musa, Sale Adamu, Suleiman Laute and Haruna Laute, allegedly involved in the midnight attack that left at least 20 people dead in Nimbo community in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area, Enugu State.

A statement released by police spokesperson, Olabisi Kolawole, said the Inspector General's Intelligence Response Team (IRT) carried out the operation based on credible intelligence.

This successfully lead to their arrest and also a recovery of a Gionee L88 mobile phone with a memory card that contains a video recording of the massacre in the community.

Awww! Baby gorrilla shares tender moment with a little girl at Texas zoo

A little girl was pictured sharing a touching moment with a a baby western lowland gorilla at Fort Worth Zoo in Texas on Monday, May 23. Fort Worth Zoo shared the photo of the pair, five-month-old gorilla Gus and two-year-old girl Braylee, which showed them pressing their palms together on either side of the glass enclosure, to encourage other customers to share their own encounters with the animals.


"As he gets older, Gus is exploring more and more of the world around him, which includes encounters with new friends like Braylee of Fort Worth. Share your animal encounters with us via Facebook message and we'll post some of our favorites" the zoo captioned the cute photo.

Kano State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development today, Wednesday, May 25, visited the VVF ward at Murtala Muhammad Hospital to check the health condition of the young patients and make some donation to them. The patients are pictured with bowls between their legs to manage the leakage.


In July 2013, the then Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Zainab Maina, said Nigeria had been identified as the country with the highest prevalence of Vesico Vaginal Fistula in the world, accounting for about 0.4 million to 0.8 million out of the 2 million cases recorded globally.

In Nigeria, VVF has social, economic and religious implications. Many women with VVF are regarded as outcasts and marriages have been dissolved as a result of this. Many girls between the ages of 11 and 15 in Nigeria become mothers either through early marriage or unwanted pregnancies. They experience obstructed labour even as some unskilled birth attendants simply cut through the vagina to create passage for the baby, that eventually results in VVF, the leakage of urine and faeces through the vagina.

The malodorous nature of the condition makes women with VVF become outcast in the society.

My Struggle with Fibroids

The reason my periods were so heavy at that time was because of the three fibroids I had in my uterus. I first found out about them back in 2012 and in 2013 I had them removed with surgery. Two years later they came back even bigger. My doctor wanted to schedule another surgery but if it didn't work the first time why would I go under the knife again for a second time? So I decided to just deal with the pain and heavy bleeding and search for a natural way to get rid of them FOR GOOD!

Searching for natural ways to get rid of my fibroids was not easy. I saw several advertisements ofall kinds of treatments to shrink fibroids. I was a little skeptical but I was desperate to get rid of the fibroids so I tried one in particular which didn't work. I was still having heavy painful bleeding with lots of clots. I noticed that the soreness in my breast was gone, but after going for another scan, I was told that my fibroids were still there. Two months later, I went for another scan and to my surprise and that of my doctor, my fibroids were gone. My doctor kept going over and over the scan result to make sure she was reading it correctly. She couldn't believe that all of my fibroids were gone without surgery. My uterus was back to its normal size and my periods are now 3 days long. She asked me what I did to make them go away and I told her "I did what I should have done back in 2013. CCT Trial: Evidence we tendered against Saraki was incomplete - EFCC witness tells court

The trial of the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki resumed at the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, on Wednesday with the first prosecution witness, Michael Wetkas, admitting that some of the evidences he tendered before the tribunal against Saraki were incomplete.

Saraki is currently facing a 16- count charge of false asset declaration while he was the Governor of Kwara State.


At today's resumed hearing, Wetkas, an operative of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, alleged that Saraki did not declare a property he bought in 1993 during his assets declaration of 2003.
Wetkas said,
"Saraki on 16 September 2003, did not declare a property he purchased in Maitama, Abuja in 1993."
He alleged that Saraki acquired the property through his company, Carlyed Properties Limited.
When asked by Saraki's lawyer, Paul Usoro, SAN, to verify exhibit 20, a letter by the EFCC asking the Abuja Geographical Information System, AGIS, requesting for information on the property Saraki did not declare, which he tendered before the tribunal, Wetkas admitted that the commission tendered an incomplete evidence.

Wetkas said
"I believe that in the course of administrative work and numbering some parts went missing."
Usoro, further established that Saraki, in an attempt to ensure transparency in his transactions, gave the power of attorney, meaning - the authority to act for another person in a specified or all legal or financial matters - to both Akao and Allied Properties.

Wetkas, in his testimony, also stated that according to Exhibit 125 and 126, the original Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) and all other supporting documents of the Maitama property in question, were in the name of David Baba Akao.

On further cross-examination, Wetkas further accepted that Allied Properties, a company that was registered on 15th March 1992, also received another C of O, from former FCT Minister, Nasir El Rufai, in its name - making the Federal Government charge against Saraki, devoid of merit.

President Buhari's one year is a colossal waste- Ayo Fayose

Ahead of President Buhari's first year in office anniversary coming up on May 29th, Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose, has described Buhari's stay in office as a colossal waste. He said this in a statement titled  "Petrol Price Increment as Buhari's 1st Year Anniversary Gift to Nigerians" and released today May 25th. Part of the statement reads;

"Despite his electoral promise to reduce petrol pump price from the N87 per litre that he met it, President Muhammadu Buhari increased the price to N145! With this increment, Buhari has further impoverished Nigerians. Nigerians should be reminded that on April 14, 2015, President Buhari's ally and former Minister of Petroleum and Energy, Prof. Tam David-West, told Nigerians that Gen. Mohammed Buhari (who was then President-elect), will reduce the fuel pump price from N87 to N40 per litre. Buhari did not debunk this statement made by his friend and major supporter.
"Also, when the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government of Dr Goodluck Jonathan reduced the petrol pump price from N97 to N87 per litre in January 2015, former Lagos State Governor who is now Minister of Works, Power and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola said N10 reduction of the petrol pump price was too low and that Nigerians will get a better deal under Buhari. Fashola tweeted on January 18, 2015; 'On PMS price reduction by N10. Now they listen. Oil the raw material drop over 50%, N10 is just about 10%. Good try but Nija can get a beta deal.' In rewarding Nigerians for electing him as president, President Buhari opted to increase petrol pump price by N58.50! The first justification of the increment was removal of subsidy. But Nigerians were later stunned when the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo said pump price of petrol was increased because Nigeria was broke!
"In other words, President Buhari increased petrol pump price because the country was broke and it needed to shore up its revenue base. The N58.50 added to the previous pump price of N86.50 was an Indirect Tax imposed on each litre of petrol purchased by Nigerians.
"Simply put, the Federal Government is indirectly collecting N58.50 naira tax from suffering Nigerians on each litre of petrol they buy. Buhari is no doubt acting like the proverbial Agbalowomeri Baale Jontolo (Aking that exploit his extremely poor subject to further enrich himself). It is on record that on May 2 this year, the federal government, in the Petroleum Product Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) Template released in Abuja, told Nigerians that it was subsidising petrol at N12.62 per litre. In 2012 when the Dr Jonathan removed fuel subsidy and increased petrol price to N141 per litre, crude oil was selling at $111 per barrel.
"If not wickedness, how can petrol price be increased to N145 per litre when crude oil is now selling at $49 per barrel? Increasing petrol pump price by N58.50 when the federal government claimed it was subsidising the product at N12.62 per litre is clear wickedness on the part of President Buhari. In the history of Nigeria, increase in price of petrol has never been as high as it was done by Buhari, putting Nigerians in severe hardship as the product affects every sector of the economy. Too bad, those who opposed removal of fuel subsidy in 2012 and funded the Occupy Nigeria protest are the ones canvassing support for this Buhari's wicked one year anniversary gift to Nigerians. The labour unions are now completely cowed, dashing completely hope of the common people of Nigeria. Interestingly, this is not the first election promise by APC/Buhari that have been jettisoned since they got into office. The N5,000 unemployment benefits promised the downtrodden was derisively put down by this President as "largesse" with the president spurning the emotional plea of his own wife to the contrary. To add salt and insult unto injury, he traveled abroad to make the statement.
"Despite the mindless and indefensible hike in fuel price, the commodity is still not available. Minister of state for Petroleum says there is no forex to pay for fuel import; yet there is forex to indulge Buhari's foreign-trip profligacy. Presidential spin doctors and APC chieftains labouring to hoodwink the people speak glibly of how so-called deregulation will make products available, reduce cost through competition and the interplay of market forces as well as encourage private sector to build more refineries. But thank God who loves Nigerians so much, the lies of these people was by divine arrangement, I suppose, revealed by no less a person than the junior minister Ibe Kachikwu himself when he said importation of fuel continues till 2019. Nigerians should be reminded that the manner of hardship being faced now was also faced during Buhari's first coming as a military dictator when people had to queue for essential commodities. Now, Nigerians can't even afford common tomato to prepare soup. So Nigerians you have heard the truth: Under Buhari/APC, it is almost certain that our suffering will continue till 2019. Nigerians, remember I warned you before Buhari was elected; I have been warning you since Buhari became president and I am warning now that if nothing is done urgently, the economy of Nigeria will collapse."

Heart-wrenching photos of migrants being flipped into the sea as their overcrowded boat overturns off the coast of Libya

Over a hundreds refugees were thrown into water when their wooden boat capsized off the Libyan coast. The vessel which was crammed with refugees, started to lean on to its side and when it was apparent it was going to capsize, the frantic passengers began to dive into the water and swim for their lives.


At least five migrants drowned off before they were rescued and pulled to safety. An Italian patrol boat actually saw that the vessel was in difficulty and approached it a little too late to hand out life jackets as the boat flipped over due to sudden movement of the passengers. They however threw life-rafts/jackets to the migrants in the water. Another navy ship in the area sent a helicopter, rescue boats to handle the emergency and hundreds of migrants were safely rescued.

Kano State Commissioner of Women Affairs and Social Development, Barrister Zubaida Damakko Abubakar earlier today paid a visit to Baby Musa, a victim of domestic abuse. The 21-month-old boy was brutally attacked by his step mother. She reportedly cut his tongue, broke his arms and legs, castrated him and damaged his right eye. More photos after the cut.

An 11-year-old boy who was allegedly killed by his father to please his stepmother, was buried on Thursday, May 19, in Kagiso, Mogale City, South Africa. As tradition demands, the boy's twin sister was lowered into the grave before and after his coffin was lowered.

Traditional and community leader Sibangani Khanyile said this was done to prevent bad luck and death from following the living twin. 
The boy's sombre funeral was organised by community members as the whereabouts of their mother's family is unknown. The community came out in large numbers to say their last goodbyes. The twins are originally from Mpumalanga and were brought to Kagiso, Mogale City by a friend of their mum after she died.

A neighbour said after the twins arrived in Kagiso they were ill-treated by their stepmum, who said she couldn't accept them because their father had cheated on her with their mum.

At the funeral the boy's devastated sister was comforted by their mum's friend, Nomgqibelo Maphanga, who brought them from Mpumalanga.
Nomgqibelo expressed her pain and said she had lost the most free-spirited child she has ever come across. She expressed her appreciation and relief that the funeral arrangements went according to plan.

"My prayer now is that his soul rests in peace," she added.

The boy was killed last Saturday and his body was found on Tuesday. His father has reportedly confessed to killing him. The father has been charged with murder and is still in police custody.

Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, announced in Abuja today that the Federal Government has appointed Chief Executives of six information related parastatals under the Ministry of Information & Culture. The new Chief Executives are:
1. Mr. Ishaq Modibo Kawu - Director-General, Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC)
2. Mr. Mansur Liman - Director-General, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN)
3. Mr. Yakubu Mohammed - Director-General, Nigerian Television Authority (NTA)


4. Dr. Garba Abari, Director-General, National Orientation Agency (NOA)
5. Mr. Bayo Onanuga - Managing Director, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN)
6. Mr. Osita Okechukwu - Director-General, Voice of Nigeria (VON)

The new appointees are to replace the Chief Executives of the parastatals who were disengaged on Feb. 15th 2016 as their appointments begin with immediate effect.

Nigerian James Alabi, signs one year deal with Chester FC

21 year old Nigerian footballer, James Alabi, has signed a one year deal with Chester Football Club in England. Alabi arrived at the Lookers Vauxhall Stadium back in late January following his release from Ipswich Town. He will wear the number 9 shirt next season taking it over from Ross Hannah who joined Barrow last week after scoring 26 goals for Chester last season. Alabi was delighted, and said:

Joshua of the Synagogue Church Of All Nations (SCOAN), made some shocking revelations on his Emmanuel TV station concerning Nigeria and the world at large.  The 'prophet' spoke on many issues including the recent EgyptAir crash, African politics and agriculture, even warning of a terrorist attack in the United Kingdom.

He read out a transcript of the prophecies he had given during his New Year's Crossover Service, highlighting particularly the national food scarcity. On each point read, he expanded further, detailing what Nigeria and Africa are to expect in the nearest future.

FOOD SCARCITY
"There will be large scale scarcity, shortage of food. As a state, country, continent, we have to go back to the farm to arrest, to alleviate the forthcoming situation", he read. Further expanding on the details of the prophecy, he said, "It is only a 'shortage' that you are experiencing now; you have not experienced 'large scale.' " Giving further insight, he proclaimed, "This one that I am saying now, 'scarcity', 'large scale', it's a proverb. Whatever you can do from now till December - all of your money you will use to buy food - you will not have enough to buy."
Advising those in the real-estate business he said,
"If you are the type planning to build a house now, stop it for the mean time. If you are in the business of buying land, stop it for the mean time - look for another business. Stop it for the mean time until February next year. Use that money on the need of people now."
Giving a sombre warning, he said, "I'm preparing you. Get ready; lager scale scarcity is coming!"

In the last few days, Nigerians have woken up to the stark reality of the rising food scarcity. Several reports were released on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday detailing the extent of the current national food woes. Tomato ebola, violence from fulani herdsmen, missed harvests and rising transportation costs have all been attributed as the cause of the food shortage and spiralling food prices.

On the rise of "tomato ebola", Kaduna state agriculture commissioner, Manzo Daniel, said:
"This is only the beginning of a disaster if we don't take drastic measures because the disease is fast spreading across the north."
NIGERIA'S ECONOMY
On the economic plight Nigerians are facing, Joshua read from his beginning of year prophecies:
"The president will do everything to reject devaluation of the naira – which is a good idea from a good leader. But there will be overwhelming pressure which he will not be able to resist. Nigeria, we are in a valley. The future is crying for help."
Expanding on the 'valley', Joshua said:
 "I explained that we are in a valley but it is not the valley of the shadow of death. There is no snake or scorpion, it's different. When you are in the valley you will cry and cry but you will still get out of the valley." 
"You have to continue to cut your coat according to your size. Don't just continue to spend your money on something that won't be able to help you. Spend your money on something that the whole world will be looking for - food, shelter."
 AFRICAN POLITICS
Moving on the political climate in Africa, Joshua noted:
 "African leaders should quickly arrest the political situation. 50% of counties that do elections, at least 45% of them will face crisis.  More African countries will be under siege by terrorists because of pros and cons in choosing leaders. Mishandling of electoral processes will create a conducive atmosphere for terrorists."
 UK TERROR WARNING
Joshua also claimed to have seen an attack in the United Kingdom. He said:
"Pray for the United Kingdom like the railways, people, and crowds where people gather because I'm seeing some funny people in their country. But I am seeing with prayer and proper security it will be avoided but there will be a sign or trace that this happened but it will not happen the way that it was supposed to have happened but they will know that something happened there."
 The day following Joshua's warning, 27 schools had to close nationwide in the UK due to a bomb scare. Apparently, anonymous repeated calls were made to each school, warning of explosive devices. The callers told the receptionists that "if the school called the police the bomb would be detonated immediately". The threats continued on Tuesday with more schools being evacuated.

ANOTHER PLANE INCIDENT
On the Egypt Air crash, Joshua said:
 "Egypt has happened and the other one I am seeing is very close and I am going to say the country and the place. This one that I am seeing now is bigger than the one that happened. This one is very close now.
Every airport security must be tight. You should be careful who you employ to fly as a pilot or flight attendant because they too will apply for this kind of job and they will be patient enough; if it is one or two years they will be patient until the achieve their goal."

The cleric dishes out national and international predictions on a regular basis, using the platform of his Sunday services, broadcast live on his Emmanuel TV.

While some embrace his prophecies, upholding him as an end-time prophet, others are highly sceptical. Despite mixed reactions to his prophecies and purported miracles, Joshua has a huge following worldwide, with his YouTube Channel having over 350,000 subscribers and 2.2million following him on Facebook.

Chris Brown's Babymama - Nia slams reports that she tried to seek sole custody of their daughter

There were reports today that Chris Brown was victorious in Court after the mother of his child, Nia Guzman filed a lawsuit to restrict his custody of their daughter Royalty, because of his alleged drug use and affiliation with violent gangs. Nia just took to her Instagram page to deny that her motive was to separate her daughter from her father.
