Access bank MD released by EFCC Posted: 07 May 2016 12:50 PM PDT The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is leaving no stone unturned in its quest to investigate the activities of the last administration. On Friday May 6th, officials of EFCC visited the headquarters of Access Bank Plc seeking clarification from the bank's officials. Mum drowned her seven year old daughter in front of her son as punishment for misbehaving Posted: 07 May 2016 12:47 PM PDT Amanda Lewis murdered her seven year old daughter, Adrianna Hutto after she sprayed window cleaner over the TV in the living room. At first, Amanda claimed her daughter had been cleaning bugs out of the pool when she slipped, fell in and drowned, her younger brother AJ, desperately had tried to save her but couldn't and screamed for help. Amanda, said she raced over and found her daughter Adrianna floating face down and hauled her out. However, it later emerged it wasn't a tragic accident as her son AJ told cops that the mum drowned his sister after she misbehaved "Adrianna made 'momma mad' after spraying cleaning fluid over the television. From MirrorUK: At first, the Sheriff's Department and crime investigators had no reason to believe the incident was anything but a tragic accident. But less than an hour later, Amanda's six year old son AJ started to tell a more sinister story - a story that would lead to a murder trial in which he was key witness against his mother While Amanda attended hospital as doctors battled to save her daughter's life, AJ was in the care of his grandparents - Amanda's mother's Brenda Burns and step father Charles "Pa Chuck" Burns AJ told police:AJ started to tell them that he had seen his mother drown Adrianna in the pool, using her hand to cover her face and push her underwater. Brenda and Charles relayed this to the local Sheriff's Department and they took AJ to be interviewed, all while Adrianna was still alive in hospital AJ was interviewed twice that day by investigators and a child expert and both times he told a story that broadly remained the same: Adrianna had been 'dunked' by his mother as a punishment for being naughty. In the interview AJ spoke clearly saying his mother 'dunked' and 'drowned' Adrianna – and even put his hand to forehead showing how his mother did it. He described his mother in a fit of anger, incensed after Adrianna sprayed the cleaner fluid in the house. "Mama dunked my sister. She done some stuff that she ain't supposed to so my momma got mad, so she throwed her in the pool."His mother, he said, repeatedly dunked Adrianna, drowning her. He even showed police how his mum had held her hand over his sister to stop her screams. That afternoon Adrianna died in hospital in nearby Panama City. Cops later noticed the children's bedroom was squalid and had a strong stench of urine. A month after her daughter's death, Amanda was charged with murder. A post-mortem examination revealed a bruise over Adrianna's face was the shape of a handprint. The doctor who tried to save Adrianna said Amanda was emotionless when she had heard her daughter had passed away. Amanda's colleagues revealed she had talked about killing her daughter. Following a four-day trial the jury found Amanda guilty of murder and she was sentenced to life without parole. |

Photos & Video: Teacher lines up his students and releases a bull at them in unusual demonstration Posted: 07 May 2016 04:48 AM PDT A bull won't attack a human unless it feels threatened but do you have the nerves to stay perfectly still while it charges around? That's what one teacher asked his students to do. Teacher Ricardo Torres Martinez lined up his pupils in rows in a bullring in Apodaca, north-east Mexico, before releasing the animal. The students are understandably nervous as the young bull is released from its enclosure but the teacher yelled 'Stay still everybody... do not move.' The animal runs around and in between the students in an attempt to find a way out of the ring. At no point does he show aggressive behaviour and even swerves to make sure he does not hit into anybody. One student even shouts and waves at the bull and tries to chase after it, but the animal ignores him completely. The video of the demonstration is entitled 'It doesn't attack them' and the caption underneath reads: 'A teacher shows that if you do not hurt a bull, it won't attack us... The animal only wanted to ESCAPE.' The class was part a course taught by Mr Martinez at the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education (ITESM) in the state of Nuevo Leon. Unique water dispenser produces clean, drinking water from the thin air and does not need refill Posted: 07 May 2016 02:24 AM PDT Popularly known as Fountain Royale, the Aquavolve's Atmospheric Water Generator is a technological marvel. Beautifully designed to fit the size of an average domestic water dispenser, the Fountain Royale stands out for so many reasons: one, with the Fountain Royale, there is no need for refill bottles or even refilling at all. Once powered, the machine produces water out of the ambient air – air surrounding the machine. Even when the surrounding air is polluted, the machine takes water captured from the atmosphere, condenses it and then takes it through a very unique and robust purification process in seconds using up to five revolutionary filters, including a mineral filter and Ultraviolet (UV) light, which ensures that the purest, cleanest and safest water ever known to mankind is delivered in real time. "I was pleasantly surprised when I first came in contact with this machine. But I was blown away when I eventually tasted the water that it produced. It tasted better than any bottled water I've ever come across in my life. I just couldn't believe it. And you know, the feeling is almost like the water adds some extra health benefits to the body- that's the feeling I get from drinking the water, and I find that amazing!" Everyone who can afford it should have this machine at home.", said Nollywood actor, King Joe Okechukwu.
The Aquavolve Boss, Daniel Konstanty is an American from Boston Massachusetts who is crazy in Love with Africa and Africans. He claims that he is on a mission to make water easily available to people everywhere in the world, especially Africa where access to clean drinking water has been a major concern. He believes that with time and strategic partnerships, the Fountain Royale Atmospheric Water Generator will gradually become more affordable to even the lowest income earners in the society. According to him, the company also has bigger water generators that are capable of producing 1,000 to 5,000 liters per day (LPD). The machines are currently available at the showroom on No. 44 Opebi Road, Allen Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos and At Villa Angelia Boutique Hotel, 2/7, Okunola Martins Close, Off Okotie Eboh Street, Off Awolowo Road, S. What would the world be without mums Posted: 07 May 2016 01:41 AM PDT Take for example, my mum who was totally obsessed with dressing four of us like Barbie dolls. We are four girls by the way and omg did we hate it so much! But no matter the flaws, weird or ugly moments we might have had with our mums, it can never override the many fun, joyous times we shared and happy moments we had together. The truth is, mums are simply a-amazing and very special to a lot of us. If I was given the chance to trade my mum for a trillion Naira, I wouldn't (ok, I might probably think about it for a minute or two. Naah! Just kidding) I totally won't. I mean, imagine what the world would be like without mums. There will be no babies, crappy food, no warm hugs on cold nights, no clean underwears, nobody to inspire you to reach your goals, no " if a boy touches you, you'll get pregnant" preaching and the dads would have to be mums and we would have half as many wonderful people. The roles of mums in our lives can't be overrated and that is why we here at Three Crowns, take time out every year to appreciate mums all over the country with our "Mum of The Year" competition that seeks to thank mums for their selfless love, care, support and affection through life and its numerous challenges. For this year's Mum of The Year competition, all you have to do is buy the Limited Edition Three Crowns Mum of the Year pack at any store near you. Indiana installs 'baby boxes' for unwanted newborn babies (photos) Posted: 07 May 2016 01:40 AM PDT The state of Indiana has created an avenue where mothers who don't want their children can safely place them with the government rather than abandon them or try to dispose of them in some horrible way or the other. The state installed two "baby boxes" where mothers can anonymously drop off unwanted newborn babies as an extension of the state's safe haven law. Two Safe Haven Baby Boxes were opened to the public recently at Indiana fire stations as part of an initiative to give mothers in crisis a secure place to surrender their babies, said Monica Kelsey, a volunteer firefighter and founder of the nonprofit that created the boxes. When a person opens the baby box, a call is immediately placed to 911, and fire and medical personnel are dispatched to the scene. The box is padded and climate controlled to keep the baby warm while still allowing air circulation, Kelsey said, and automatically locks once a person leaves the child and shuts the door. The box is also equipped with motion sensors that trigger a second 911 call after detecting movement inside. Fire and medical officials would then look the baby over and transport him or her to a local hospital for evaluation. The child is then placed in the custody of the Indiana's Child Protective Services, Kelsey said. Source: NBC News |
