Delta state police release statement on media report concerning the Delta state police commissioner

Posted: 10 Jun 2016 01:14 PM PDT

Below is a rejoinder from the Delta State Police Command in regards to a Sahara Reporters report with caption -'Delta state Police Commissioner Usman Baba Alkali is embroiled in a scam involving a 5000 KVA Mikano Power-Generating Plant'
The attention of Delta State Police Command has been drawn to an online publication of June 07, 2016 by the Sahara Reporters, New york with the above caption, and wishes to state unequivocally that the said report is false, malicious and a calculated attempt to tarnish the good image, integrity and impeccable character of the Commissioner of Police, CP. Alkali Baba Usman, psc (+) fdc.
2. To put the facts straight, the Command never at any time had 5000KVA MIKANO generator mounted at the State Headquarters, Asaba since it moved to the present site in 2001. However, the Command would like to intimate the reading public that a Perking 250KVA donated to the Police Command by James Ibori led administration in 2001 started malfunctioning and all efforts made by immediate past Commissioner of Police to fix the generator was to no avail as it finally packed up in 2014. Equally, there is no Ten (10) million naira monthly security vote meant for maintenance, being collected or made available by Delta State government to the office Commissioner of Police.

3. The Force Headquarters Purchasing and Tenders Board in line with the provisions of the relevant section of the Public Procurement Act, 2007 requested for the list of unserviceable items from the command and in its meeting held on Wednesday, 20th January, 2016 approved the disposal by public auction of Perking 250KVA among other unserviceable items in the command after theBoard of Survey and Enquiry constituted for that purpose had done physical inspection.

4. The public auction for Delta State Command was conducted on 23/02/2016 under the supervision of the Department of Logistics and Supply, Force Headquarters Board of Survey and Enquiry at Asaba. The Commissioner of Police, Delta State command, CP. Alkali Baba Usman did not benefit from the public auction either directly or by proxy. Thus, the suggestion by Sahara Reporters that the generator was looted or stolen by CP. Alkali Baba Usman is mischievous and must be discountenanced by the members of the public.

5. Additionally, the Commissioner of Police though of Northern extraction has never given protection to criminal elements camouflaging asherdsmen. It is on record that the Commissioner of Police organised several townhall meetings in the state, during which he condemned the activities of criminal herdsmen and equally solicited for the cooperation of the communities with the police in ensuring that criminals elements masquerading as herdsmen in the state are apprehended and brought to justice.

6. Finally, postings/transfers is a routine in the Nigeria Police, thus the movement of the Commissioner of Police out of Delta Command is not connected to any of the misgivings published in Sahara Reporters website. The welfare of officers and men of the command received priority attention of CP. Alkali Baba Usman in line with the Inspector-General of Police welfare agenda for the Force.

7. The Command urges the public to disregard the said publications as malicious and a figment of the imagination of the authors which is aimed at bringingtheperson of CP. Alkali Baba Usman to public disrepute, while advising Sahara Reporters to always conduct investigative as against arm chair journalism.

Why Kenyan women fall for Nigerian men. "Our girls will bend all the rules to please Naija men"

Posted: 10 Jun 2016 12:54 PM PDT

The Kenyan writer of this article spent a few days in Nigeria and below are her observations on the reasons their women fall for Nigerian men.
"Kenyan women love foreign men. That is an open secret. The further a dude is from Kenya, the better. Tanzania and Uganda is not 'foreign'. Nigeria and anywhere in West Africa is. But foreign men think Kenyan women are cheapskates.
Our girls will bend all the rules to please Naija men. They don't mind dropping their 'feminism' guns when a Naija bro comes knocking.
Take this example. A month ago, a video featuring a half-naked Kenyan girl dancing seductively for a man with a heavy Nigerian accent (who could only be heard in the background) went viral.
'Shiro,' the dancing queen, was dropping it like it's hot, shaking what her mama gave her to the joy of her man who couldn't hide his excitement.
"Turn, Shiro, turn!" Oga shouted in the typical Nigerian accent that made the word 'turn,' sound like 'ton,' as he encouraged the enthusiastic dancer to let loose in the four-minute clip, which he promised to delete after the show.
Trust me, if the man in question was a Kasyoki, Kamande or Ondiek, Kenyan women would have taken to the streets to protest.
Remember the controversial Nairobi-based Nigerian businessman Anthony Chinedu?
Before he was deported in 2013, he was quoted as saying, "We are doing Kenya a favour by marrying their women. I have never heard of a Kenyan man marrying a Nigerian..."
This led to a debate pegged on why Kenyan women fall head-over-heels for Nigerian men.

This writer spent a few days in Nigeria which gave her an opportunity to observe the Naija brodas, some of whom pointedly declared that it's "cheaper" to maintain a Kenyan woman than a Naija one.
But are Kenyan women really cheap in the eyes of foreign men? Maybe, if you ask those Nigerian brodas our sisters love to bits. And this is why they are cheap according to the Ogas:
 They are easy 'chips funga'
For most Nigerian men, wooing their women is a ceremony. Damilola Sonji spent four years in Kenya and thinks wooing a Kenyan woman is much easier and cheaper than a Nigerian, since it's hard getting as many one-night stands from them as he got in Kenya.

You see, a Kenyan woman is very different. You can meet in a nightclub and end up with her in your house without any expectations. Naija girls, on the other hand, expect you to bring down heavens for them. You might even end up buying a house for her before you can take her to bed," claimed Damilola.
Desperate for cheap beer
While Kenyan women easily drown bottles of stouts (without mixing with soda), a Nigerian will only swill stout drinks at her local. The moment a Nigerian mama saunters into a club, there is man already ordering drinks for her. And it's that dark and bitter 'engine oil.'
Diana Bada, a Russia-born Nigerian musician, who was in Kenya for a month agrees that Kenyan women are, indeed, different.
"In Nigeria, it's almost obvious that women don't spend women in a nightclub. Our men take care of us and that's their responsibility. It does not necessarily mean that you will go home and sleep with him. It's just our culture," said the musician who performed at Ole Sereni in Nairobi, in Kilifi and in Mombasa.
Diana says that she was shocked to see her friend panic when one of their Nigerian friends volunteered to drop them home.
"We went to eat at a Nigerian restaurant and it turned out that the owners knew my friend. They therefore offered us a car to drop us home and save us taxi money. We were even given clothes by the people who also own a fashion house. My friend almost had a heart attack thinking the man wanted more. It took a lot of convincing for her to realise that that's how women are treated in Nigeria," Diana told The Nairobian.
Sponsor mentality
Socialites have single-handedly convinced young girls that there is good life in Nigeria. In fact, nowadays most local girls are posing nude online, showing off their butts hoping someone in Lagos will take note and fly them out.
Nigerian musician, General Pipe, claims it's not always as rosy as it seems in Nigeria, but is shocked at the lengths Kenyan women go just to bag a Nigerian man.
"I know one Kenyan socialite whose first visit to Nigeria was disastrous. She almost slept on the streets, but was rescued by a fellow Kenyan. She spent the rest of her days cosying up with any man with a nice pair of shoes. Naija babes can make you pay for their flight to your country and never show up because they will somehow find a way to sell the ticket!" said the musician who lived in Kenya in 2012.
Kenyan women think it's a badge of honour to sleep with a foreigner after knowing their surname.
Folorunsho Agbede, a Nigerian teacher who was in the country for only a week, says she was shocked at the activities that went on in the hotel she was staying.
"It was a conference for Nigerian and Kenyan teachers and we were staying at a high-end hotel near Valley Road in Nairobi.

I noticed that our Kenyan female counterparts were sharing rooms with our Nigerian male colleagues just two days after we met. I know some of these men are married back at home, so this really came as a shocker. I'm not saying that we are perfect, maybe we are just difficult," said Folorunsho.
They have low self-esteem
Kenyan women are not as confident as their Naija counterparts. Kenyan lasses are also more  reserved. Olamide Ojuon, a Nairobi-based gym instructor, says he would date a Kenyan girl, but never marry one.
"I just feel that Kenyan girls are not confident. I wish I could show you the messages I get from girls I have broken up with and how they react. They always ask where they went wrong. If a woman is confident, she should know that she is beautiful and a man who leaves her is the loser.
I want an aggressive woman. I want to chase someone so when I get them, I won't want to lose them. Maybe I can just find that back home," he said.
They are willing breadwinners
A never-do-well Nigerian man can find a local lass who can take care of his bills, but for Nigerian women, that is a no-no. "A man should provide for you, your friends and family if possible," reasons Chike Adobi. "That's his responsibility. For a Naija babe to get with a man, he must be willing to chop money. Isn't that the same in Kenya? No romance without finance, right?" she asked, but things are not the same here for some women who are willing breadwinners.
Kenyan girls marry 'anyone'
Apart from a few cases of influential families, Kenyan girls easily get married to whoever they fancy and her family only get to know when she has three kids who are about to register as voters!
However, when a Naija girl shows interest in a man, her family starts researching his background.
"Marriage in Nigeria is a very big deal and that's why women and men don't rush into it. When a girl shows interest in a man, the family starts snooping just to find out his background. That's why Naija girls are very choosy," Nigerian musician Flavor  told The Nairobian in a previous interview to explain why he was still single.

Arthur Simpson-Kent pleads guilty to murders of ex-EastEnders actress Sian Blake and her two children

Posted: 10 Jun 2016 12:50 PM PDT

The boyfriend of Ex-Eastender actress is facing life in prison after admitting murdering her and her two sons, before burying them in the garden and fleeing to Africa.

Arthur Simpson-Kent, 49, appeared at the Old Bailey today Friday, 10 June, where he admitted murdering his partner Sian Blake, 43, & her sons; Zachary Kent-Blake, 8, and Amon Kent-Blake, 4.

Their bodies were found by police on Tuesday, 5 January buried in the garden of the family home in Pembroke Road, Erith. Sian and her children were last seen on 13 December 2015, when they visited her family in Leyton, and on the afternoon of 14 December, she made a telephone call to an acquaintance. This was the last time Sian was known to be alive.

It is believed Simpson-Kent committed the murders between 13 December and 16 December 2015. On 16 December 2015, Sian's sister received a text from Sian's telephone stating she and the children needed to get away for a while. Detectives believe this text was sent by Simpson-Kent and that he had already murdered his family.

Also on 16 December, prompted by concerns raised by a family member with the NSPCC, police officers from Bexley Borough made enquiries at the home address and spoke to Arthur Simpson-Kent. He told officers that Sian and the children had gone to visit a friend in Cambridge. Simpson-Kent was initially uncooperative but then allowed officers into the address.

Later that day, Sian and her children were reported as missing persons by police in Bexley and a missing persons' investigation was launched. This investigation continues to be subject to an ongoing independent investigation by the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC).

Excavations of these areas took place and discovered Sian, Zachery and Amon. A significant effort had been taken to conceal them. Post-mortem examinations found the cause of their deaths to be head and neck injuries.

A manhunt was launched to arrest Arthur Simpson-Kent, who it was established had left the home address on 16 December 2015, shortly after officers had spoken to him. Simpson-Kent travelled to Accra Airport in Ghana, from Glasgow Airport via Amsterdam, on 18 December, after spending the night with a friend in Camden and withdrawing £700 from Sian's bank account.

Detectives from the HMCC travelled to Ghana and Simpson-Kent was subsequently arrested on the 9 January, and extradited to the UK on 12 February where he was charged with the murders.

Detective Chief Inspector Graeme Gwyn, Homicide and Major Crime Command, said:

"Arthur Simpson-Kent has never given a reason as to why he killed Sian, Zachary and Amon in the way that he did. Sian's close-knit family are devastated by the loss of their much loved sister, daughter and cousin. The deaths of Zachary and Amon have compounded their grief and they have lost two entire generations of their family to a violent and completely senseless act of murder at the hands of Simpson-Kent. Our efforts to bring Simpson-Kent back to the UK to face justice were greatly expedited by the help we received from the Ghanaian authorities and the National Crime Agency, who alongside us, ensured Simpson-Kent was arrested as soon as possible and returned to the UK. We now await the sentence date of the 4 October where I hope the family can get some form of closure for what has been, and continues to be, an incredibly difficult time for them."

Bakassi Militants under the aegis of Bakassi Strike Force, have appealed to their counterparts, the Niger Delta Avengers, to stop blowing up pipelines in the region. In an interview with Channels TV, the Militants asked the group to desist from carrying out more attacks on oil installations as such acts will only inflict more hardship on the people of the region.

Leader of the group, Simple Benjamin in the interview which was recorded at Esuk Mba, in Akpabuyo local government area of Cross Rivers state, said the Federal government should listen to the demand of the Niger Delta Avengers
"Fellow compatriots of the Niger Delta Avengers, please sheath your sword and give peace a chance. I think you have made your point. Give the government a chance to respond. Nigeria needs peace now more than ever. I appeal to the Nigerian security agencies to please thread carefully as two wrongs cannot make a right. I appeal to the Federal government and all those in authority to be mindful of their words as it can infuriate and set one against the other. We recently hear comments from the Federal government such as we will crush them and no fresh amnesty. We are not saying criminals should be celebrated but we should take cognizance of the fact that Niger Delta challenges are unique therefore should be treated carefully"he said

Man being investigated for N91m fraud dies in EFCC custody

Posted: 10 Jun 2016 09:09 AM PDT

Desmond Nunugwo, a suspect under investigation by the EFCC, passed away today June 10th, few hours after he was taken into custody. His demise was confirmed at the hospital where he was rushed after he suddenly took ill.

Late Nunugwu allegedly fraudulently obtained N91million from an acquaintance after he tricked her into believing that he had high net worth business associates in Dubai, United Arab Emirates who were at the verge of buying Nicon Insurance and convinced her of their disposition to help her stock fish business.

Consequently, she wired N91m into Nunugwo's nominated account (Mainagge General Merchants) in Diamond Bank. After the transfer of the funds, Nunugwo became evasive forcing the complainant to report the transaction to the EFCC. Consequently, Nunugwo was arrested in Utako, Abuja at about 5.33pm on Thursday, June 9, 2016.

His statement was taken, where he admitted receiving the money from the complainant, with the additional information that he transferred N30m of the said money to Norway. But he could not explain the whereabouts of the balance of N61m. The suspect was detained at about 7.30pm, in the absence of anybody to take him on bail. Six hours later, he suddenly complained of discomfort and was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The incident has already been reported at the Wuse Police Station, where investigation into the cause of the sudden death has commenced.

At the launch of the campaign in New York, Mr Gates said:
"These chickens are multiplying on an ongoing basis so there's no investment that has a return percentage anything like being able to breed chickens."

Is Diabetes negatively affecting your sex life?

Posted: 10 Jun 2016 09:02 AM PDT

If Diabetes is negatively affecting Your Sex life, there is a way out. http://goo.gl/248rT8

Diabetes is a leading cause of sexual health issues in people. It can affect nerve function and blood flow to any place in the body. One area that is often affected is the genitals. In men, this commonly manifests as erectile dysfunction. see solution here http://goo.gl/248rT8

Men with poorly controlled diabetes are more likely to experience low performance in bed than those in good control.  Men who have good control of their diabetes can still have issues but they are more likely to be mild and responsive to treatment.

The biggest cause of weak performance in bed for men with Diabetes is nerve and artery damage in the genital area, which disrupts blood flow and can cause erectile dysfunction. Erectile dysfunction is known to occur in over one-half of men who have had diabetes for 10 years. http://goo.gl/248rT8

Studies have shown that men with erectile dysfunction and diabetes are also more likely to have heart disease, because the risk factors for erectile dysfunction are the same as for coronary artery disease.

The same problems that lead to decreased blood flow to the arteries in the penis, lead to blockages in the arteries of the heart.

Other sexual health issues arising from Diabetes include the following: Decreased libido – often stemming from depression or low levels of testosterone and Premature/delayed ejaculation.

Complications and low performance in bed  issues arising from Diabetes can be beaten.
See how here http://goo.gl/248rT8

Type 2 diabetes may make sexual activity more challenging but it does not mean you must forgo the
sexual side of life completely. Many times if the disease is brought under control, sexual dysfunctions
 resolve themselves.

The most important thing is not to give up on what is an important quality of life issue.  This problem has a solution. see it here http://goo.gl/248rT8

It has been estimated that about 35%-75% of men with diabetes will experience at least some degree of erectile dysfunction -- also called ED or impotence -- during their lifetime. Men with diabetes tend to develop erectile dysfunction 10 to 15 years earlier than men without diabetes. As men with diabetes age, erectile dysfunction becomes even more common.

Above the age of 50, the likelihood of having difficulties with an erection occurs in approximately 50%-60% of men with diabetes. Above age 70, there is about a 95%likelihood of having some difficulty with erectile function. Erectile dysfunction — the inability to get or maintain an erection firm enough for sex — is common in men who have diabetes. The solution is here http://goo.gl/248rT8

It can stem from problems caused by poor long-term blood sugar control, which damages nerves and blood vessels. Erectile dysfunction can also be linked to other conditions common in men with diabetes, such as high blood pressure and coronary artery disease.

Having erectile dysfunction can be a real challenge. It can leave you and your partner feeling frustrated and discouraged. In order to take steps now to deal with erectile dysfunction — and get your sex life back on track click here http://goo.gl/248rT8

Muslim group rejects new NYSC date for orientation due to Ramadan

Posted: 10 Jun 2016 09:00 AM PDT

The Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC, have released a statement rejecting the June 13th date fixed for the NYSC Batch A (Stream II) orientation course, arguing that the Muslim graduates expected to participate in the orientation will be fasting as the date clashes with their Ramadan fasting. The group argues that it would be very strenuous for Muslims to be fasting and also participate in the challenges task set for them during their orientation camp.

The statement reads in part
"It is illegal, unlawful and unconstitutional for NYSC to hold camp at a time when its Muslim members will be deprived of their freedom of worship and the liberty to practice their creed without fear. This planned camp is exclusive, discriminatory and parochial. We do not want to believe that the shift was deliberately planned to coincide with the Ramadan season with a view to excluding prospective Muslim corpers. MURIC is not trying to indulge Muslim youths. Fasting is no joke and it certainly cannot be combined with the physical challenges which characterize the NYSC camp.
Firstly, morning drills in NYSC camps are known to be rigorous and the soldiers in charge will not take excuses. Dehydration sets in later in the day particularly in the hotter regions of Nigeria.
Secondly, adequate sahuur (early morning meal taken approximately between 4 am and 5.15 am) cannot be guaranteed in the NYSC camp. Neither can the futuur (meal taken at sunset to break fast ) be timely as camp schedules are bound to ignore and subsume this very important period.
Thirdly, attending orientation camp and partaking in the energy-sapping activities on empty stomach is an indubitable invitation to health crisis. NYSC may therefore be inviting Muslim corpers to step on landmines in the planned orientation camp if it holds as presently scheduled.
There is more to Ramadan than ordinary fasting. That is on the surface. The whole month of Ramadan is a period of spiritual dedication. There are so many other spiritual exercises in which Muslims engage, the tafsiir (exegesis of the Qur'an) session, the taraawih (late evening supererogatory prayers) and nawaafil (night supererogatory prayers). Only the deep can call to the deep. All these cannot be possible in the NYSC camp."the statement read

NOPD is investigating to determine whether tow trucks were delayed in getting to the scene, WWL reported. An attorney for the Fraternal Order of Police told the station that most accidents are cleared in one or two hours.

Clearing the accident scenes can take differing amounts of time, based on the damage to the vehicles, how many vehicles were involved, the injuries, that sort of thing," Donovan Livacarri said.

Nguyen has been booked on vehicular homicide but not on drunken driving. Police said they are awaiting the results of toxicology tests but said they believe he was intoxicated at the time of the crash.

She thought fibriod surgery was the best and last option, but she was wrong

Mrs. Chinasa a big business owner tells story of her fibroid pains and the recent surgery for the removal which she thought was her last option. She used this medium to advice ladies who are going through such pains. Read her story below…

"I choose to tell you my story today. Number one, I keep everything in my life under wraps because of the negativity out there. 90 percent of my life doesn't make it to the Internet. I've been through a lot in my life but I'll let you read all the truth in my book and watch on my reality show "Building Your Business". A lot of people send me DMs and emails saying how perfect I am, how they want to be like me, how strong I am; Asking how I manage to run 20 businesses and take care of my 2 kids at the same time. I promised myself to always keep going to encourage the people I inspire.

This powerful string woman you see is not perfect. I have my pains, I cry too especially when I'm misjudged, have been betrayed and stabbed in the back severally by friends but I promised myself I was going to make a change for ladies who are determined to make it through genuinely, so I put all my talent to use. When I had My Son, Eric, I bled all through the pregnancy, not knowing I was even pregnant till about 5 months. 3 years after I had him, I was having stomach pains and bleeding heavily through my periods. I went to my gynecologist, he said I had 3 small fibroids and a big size one. We agreed to take them out through laparoscopic surgery.

I woke up thinking it was done. He said it was on my womb, that I would lose my womb if he did it. I didn't sign for them to open me up, that they had to do it through major surgery. he said one was on my bladder which made me pee myself when I cough in public and it have me terrible back pains and leg pains. He advised me to have another baby before the surgery. Years after, I got pregnant with my daughter (Eunice) despite the consequences, my partner insisted I had the baby. I found out I was pregnant at 4 months like the first time cause I was having periods due to the fibroids. At 5 months, I was bedridden, I had a lot of pains from the pregnancy. I went to my gynecologist. he said I had something called "Red degeneration" where the fibroids suck the blood from the baby and doesn't make it grow. The same day, I found out I had gestational diabetes. I thought I was going to lose the baby, they changed my diet, I went through non-stop pains till about 7 months, later the baby started growing well and so were the 4 fibroids. They put my sugar levels on check during this period."

To cut the story short, i thank God for my partner and mother-in-law who stood by me all through; taking care of me and with prayers. They never doubted me once.
During this period, I couldn't walk, eat, bath myself not talk. Thanks to my partner and sister, they used to bath me. The pain stopped at about 7 months, after my birthday on the 3rd of August, I was having fun with family at Midas Arena, I started bleeding chunks of blood nonstop. I was rushed to Hospital and collapsed when we got there. They stopped the bleeding and pleaded with me to do the surgery but I kept postponing it because I didn't want to lose my womb.

It happened again but this time, I couldn't hesitate anymore and they took the 4 fibroids out and saved my womb. I thought that was the end of it but to my greatest surprise, I started experiencing the symptoms again after 3years have gone and went for another checkup and guess what, It's unbelievable, Fibroids again!!! I started sorting for other means of getting rid of this threatening killer disease, not until I stumbled into this natural therapy on the site. I had my doubt at first but I tell you I took the risk. Today it's been over five years from then and nothing like such symptoms have surfaced, not to talk of fibroid itself.

WHAT ARE FIBROIDS THEN?

DO YOU KNOW THAT
Women with fibroids are more likely to have problems during pregnancy and delivery? This doesn't mean there will be problems. The most common problems seen in pregnant women with fibroids are:

Ø  Cesarean section. The risk of needing a C-section is six times greater for women with fibroids.
Ø  Baby is breech. The baby is not positioned well for vaginal delivery.
Ø  Labor fails to progress.
Ø  Placental abruption. The placenta breaks away from the wall of the uterus before delivery. When this happens, the fetus does not get enough oxygen.
