| Posted: 21 Jun 2016 02:39 PM PDT  One of the House of Representatives members, Samuel Ikon pictured, who alongside two others have been accused of sexual misconduct while in the US for an official assignment in April this year, have written to the US Ambassador to Nigeria, James Entwistle, asking that a thorough investigation be carried out on the matter so that his name will be cleared. In the letter, Ikon stated that he is a happily married man who does not need to find comfort in the arms of any prostitute. According to him, he was ill all through out his stay in the US and as a result could not have had sex. Read the full text of his letter after the cut... James F. Entwistle Ambassador of United State of America Abuja, Nigeria. Sir, It is with a deep sense of sadness and great hurt that I write to respond to a letter dated June 9, 2016 addressed to the Rt. Hon. Speaker of the House of Representatives of Nigeria, copied to me and signed by you, alleging that I, Hon. Samuel Ikon, with Hon. Mark Gbillah requested hotel parking attendants assist us solicit prostitutes. Let me state unequivocally sir that this allegation is not just false, but in bad taste. I Hon. Samuel Ikon never on that trip, nor on any trip to the US or anywhere in this world, ever sought to consort with prostitutes. This act would not only be inimical to my health, but totally unacceptable to my faith. May I draw your attention Mr. Ambassador to the fact that I almost did not make that trip due to my state of health, a situation that was well known to your mission accompanying staff Mrs. Victoria Ibi. Even at the airport before our departure, I still was not sure but travelled due to the deep respect and appreciation I had at the time for the US government nominating me for the program on one hand, and the fact that I carried necessary medication for the Malaria and Typhoid that I was diagnosed of. Mr. Ambassador, I was miserable throughout our stay in Washington DC and only got a bit stable in Cleveland when the medication began to kick in. Secondly, I was at the same time on medication to reduce my PSA level which tests in February this year had indicated a disturbing increase thus the issue of sex was totally ruled out for me in view of my health (laboratory results available if needed). I therefore find it funny and unacceptable to be so linked as in your letter. I have another proof of my innocence which wiII completely tear down this false conclusion but will leave it out for a later time should you fail to redeem my integrity and I am forced to take legal action. I wish to categorically state that at no time did I either alone, or in the company of Hon. Mark Gbillah a gentlemen with impeccable moral standing, approach any parking lot staff or any hotel staff for that matter to assist me solicit for prostitutes. It never happened nor was ever intended or thought of. I have been in the legislature in the past nine (9) years and has attended over 30 conferences, seminars and meetings in about 20 countries globally and has never sought for a prostitute in any of these countries including the USA. I was in New York for a UN hearing on Narcotics in February for 4 days and never sought for a prostitute. My impeccable record of accomplishment is there to be seen. I have done programs in Harvard and Stanford Universities in the US and completed them successful without an incident or request for prostitutes. I am an Elder in my Church since 2006 and clearly knows the tenets and doctrines of my faith one of which abhors such desires for prostitutes as such very offensive to be so linked. His Excellency sir, let me inform you that I am happily married to a woman who is a mother, friend and confidant to me for twenty (20) years now and I have no reason to seek comfort in the bosom of a prostitute with all the attendant health risks especially the latest known as Zika Virus which has entered the USA. Mr Ambassador, I therefore find this false allegation condemnable, repugnant and totally unacceptable to me. Most distressing is the statement in your letter that your mission took pains to confirm this allegation and my identity. How sad. How can you confirm it to be my identity when I never had such an encounter with any hotel staff. Moreover, how did you come to such conclusion without any fair hearing as you never sought my own view or account. Not driving a car myself, what would I be doing at the parking lot area, to then meet a staff there for such discussions? May I draw your Excellency's attention to how he would feel or react if after a meeting, say in the state department in Washington DC, he returns to Abuja only to receive a letter two months later that he sought to consort with prostitutes whilst in DC, an allegation His Excellency knows is false because he never did such . That's exactly how I feel now. (I) I never sought anyone's help to get prostitutes . (2) I never had need for prostitutes. (3) My health situation especially at the time could not have allowed such desires. (4) My faith abhors such desires. (5) I have never desired a prostitute . I wish to draw your attention to the fact that it was myself and Hon. Mark Gbillah that sought to travel with our wives but your mission advised against it yet my reason for wanting to travel with my wife was because of my health condition at the time of the trip. His Excellency sir, kindly note that I attended every session of the program from day 1 to the last, missing only a lunch date due to my medication time. Worthy to note is the fact that there was a basketball match that period and the hotel had a lot of guests as such this may be a case of mistaken identity. I couldn't even attend the game due to my state of health as my body couldn't stand the chill weather for long. I therefore urge that you review this case within 7 days taking a more detailed look at the evidences available for such like video recordings especially audio showing time and date of such discussions. So you can realize that a mistake has been made here and my integrity restored, else I will be seeking legal redress in competent courts of law both in Nigeria and in the US. I am olive and not dead. I am sane and capable of knowing what I did, said and who I met. As such cannot accept this false allegation by your mission on my person and reputation built over the years. Mr. Ambassador sir, United States is held in high esteem for its providing platforms for liberties and the rule of law. It's my hope that these beliefs will not fade in my sight due to this great injustice. On the issue of revocation of Visas, I wish to state that until my name is cleared and apologies tendered , I have no intention to visit a country where I can be so easily accused and adjudged so, without any fair hearing as such you need not worry. Your Excellency, I am confident that you will take steps to address my response to your letter as it will be most unfair to taint my reputation, carrier and psych by o false and untrue allegation. It is sad that this false allegation has gone to the press and now in the public domain further tarnishing my image and reputation. Instead of running away, she threw herself on her son, shielding him from shooter Omar Mateen. She died protecting her son, pictured in the middle crying  McCoo, 49, was a two-time cancer survivor. Her sister-in-law Ada Pressley told the New York Daily News that McCool saw gunman Omar turn his assault rifle at her and her son and said: "Get down,' to Isaiah and she got in front of him,". She was shot dead. That's how much she loved her kids. If it weren't for her, he'd have been shot."     At her funeral at the First United Methodist Church of Orlando today, Henderson, 21, broke down as he paid heartfelt tribute to his mother, almost unable to stand while he spoke. His brothers rushed to the pulpit to hold him up and console him. "I haven't stopped crying since," Henderson said. The funeral was also full of humor and colorful moments as Marquez-McCool's family remembered her life. She was repeatedly referred to as a resilient woman who was a family leader and a fighter. Henderson said he and his mother used to wrestle and "play fight," adding that his mother always won. "I obviously lost. She's a linebacker!" he joked. His family roared with laughter. Many of Marquez-McCool's 11 children spoke. Her brother Michael Santos was the only one of her siblings to offer words of remembrance, and he struggled at times to get through them. "I have nothing to say to you because my heart is on fire. I have no words," said Santos. He spoke fondly of their Puerto Rican heritage and said that his sister was quite the dancer, the life of the party. He looked toward heaven and asked her to "tell Jesus to step up the salsa game." Robert Pressley Jr., another of Marquez-McCool's sons, joined his friends near the altar and sang a tribute to his mother, at times pulling the microphone away from his mouth and holding down his head as he struggled to finish the song through tears. |

| Family releases burial details for late OJB Posted: 21 Jun 2016 01:51 PM PDT  The family of late Nigerian music producer and artiste, Babatunde Okungbowa, aka OJB Jezreel who passed on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 have released details for his final burial rites. The respected music producer and singer battled with Kidney problems since 2013. He was consequently was flown to India for a transplant in 2013, after the successful surgery, OJB Jezreel, showered praises on his first wife, Mama J, for being there for him and donating one of her kidneys to save his life and also on the people, Fans and Friends that gave supports monetarily and otherwise. However, his kidney transplant failed again a week before his demise and OJB passed on. Jigga, as he was fondly called by close friends and asosociate was prepararing for his 50th birthday slated for 4th of July before his death. His body has been deposited in Farewell Funeral Homes, Isolo. He is survived by his father, Chief Anthony Okungbowa(Arase of Agbor), Siblings, Mrs.Theresa Ebunola Gamba(USA), Mr. Cornelius Archibong(England), Mr. Albert Okungbowa(USA), Mr. Anthony Okungbowa, Marvin Okungbowa, Bose Ajila Okungbowa and Joseph Okungbowa. "Air Commodore Umar Muhammed (rtd) is a member of the arms procurement committee, and there are speculations that he is the one fronting for some members of the committee. He is rumoured to be fronting for high ranking officials in the EFCC and ONSA," a source alleged Based on a tip off, men of the Department of State Security (DSS) raided his residence at No. 4 Lundi Close Off Mississipi Street in Maitama, Abuja on Sunday night June 19th. According to the source, DSS operatives, after a five-hour search, found and seized the sum of $1.5 million in cash and various high-end cars. "The DSS cordoned off his house in Maitama, where he is believed to be having meeting at the time they swooped on the residence and searched his house at about 5p.m. on Sunday and did not leave until about 10p.m. where they found so much incriminating evidence. After the search at his Maitama residence, the sum of $1.5 million cash was discovered and about 18 luxury cars were taken away including Rolls Royce, Ferrari, Buggatti and many others," the source claimed. The source also revealed that the suspect usually uses No. 1 Gado Nasko Street, Asokoro "where he allegedly defrauds people." Muhammed is still reportedly being held at the DSS detention centre in Abuja. Muhammed, who is said to be the Chairman of EasyJets Nigeria, is one of the 13 members of the Presidential Arms Procurement Investigative Panel set up by President Muhammadu Buhari in August last year under the supervision of the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA). |

| $40million fraud: Court strike out suit against EFCC filed by Goodluck Jonathan's cousin Azibola Posted: 21 Jun 2016 11:18 AM PDT   In the motion, Azibola requested for an order nullifying and setting aside the remand order obtained by the EFCC to remand him, an order directing the Commission to release him from custody, an order of perpetual injunction restraining the EFCC or any person whatsoever acting for/on behalf of the Commission from arresting or detaining him and demand of special damages in the sum of N200, 000,000 (Two Hundred Million Naira Only). Azibola is being investigated by the EFCC for suspicious contracts awarded to him by the former National Security Adviser to former President, Goodluck Jonathan. The investigation revealed that between 2012 and 2015, Colonel Sambo Dasuki allegedly awarded fictitious contracts to the tunes of N2,219,188,609.50 ( Two Billion, Two Hundred and Nineteen Million, One Hundred and Eighty Eight Thousand, Six Hundred and Nine Naira, Fifty Kobo), $1,671,742,613.58 (One Billion, Six Hundred Seventy One Million, Seven Hundred and Forty Two Thousand, Six Hundred and Thirteen Dollars Fifty Eight Cents) and €9,905,477.00 (Nine Million, Nine Hundred and Five Thousand, Four Hundred and Seventy Seven Euros) respectively to Azibola and his companies and proxies. Also the sums of $40 million and N650 million was said to have been traced in the bank account of Azibola as moneies paid by the former NSA. It would be recalled that Azibola made similar motion before Abuja High Court and same was dismissed by Honourable Justice O.O Goodluck of Abuja High Court. He later filed two separate motions before Honourable Justice C.M.A Olatoregun of the Federal High Court Lagos and Justice Candid Johnson of the Lagos High Court. |

I felt like my body was betraying me -- out of nowhere, there was so much pain in my knee. Anytime I made a move, and I mean like a step or a walk, any move was painful. I remember just thinking at one point, 'What have I done to deserve this?' This is something that's very important to my sport, my career and my future. And it got to a point where I was thinking, 'Man, do I want to continue to feel all this pain?' "I felt like my body was betraying me. It was every game, it was every day, literally. During drills in practice one day, I thought, 'Nobody in this gym knows how much pain I'm in right now.' It hurt to run, stop, plant, and it's killing me. But I didn't let people know. I didn't use no excuse. I just tried to do my therapy to fight through it." But after working with a new trainer and changing the focus of his training last offseason, Wade missed only seven games due to injury, down from 20 the previous season. "I'd say I probably felt like I was 28 this season," he said. "There were times when I did certain things and was like, 'Man! That was like young me!' And then there were other times when I played my old-school game and played at my own pace." He said he "never envisioned that I would be playing this long. I think I always told myself that my body would tell me, 'Hey, I gave you enough, it's time.' So whenever my body tells me that, I'll listen to it and then I'll make that decision. But nah, I'm not there yet. I've got some good years left." He said appearing in ESPN's Body Issue "is bigger than looking at an athlete's body. It's more about the story we are telling of overcoming my fear of doing this. I had a fear of being naked in front of others and a fear of being judged. When I was young, my belly button was an outie, and I never even wanted to take my shirt off when we were at the swimming pool or outside during water fights. The only people who went into the pool with their shirts on were the kids who were overweight — and me. I knew that I was different…. | Woman allegedly inflicts deep cut on her teen son’s head for refusing to wash plates (photo) Posted: 21 Jun 2016 09:19 AM PDT  A woman named Mojisola Jaqueen Ajenifuja has allegedly inflicted deep cut on her 15 year old son, Abdulgafar Ajenifuja's head, following his refusal to wash plates. The boy was said to have fled their Ikorodu, Lagos residence, after the incident, appealing to the public to save him and his siblings from their mother who he termed 'violent'. According to Twitter user, @Arican88, who spoke to the boy, the woman used her high- heeled shoe to inflict a deep cut on his head on Friday and the boy revealed that it's the same situation his siblings have found themselves in. See the graphic photo after the cut...  "Gafar cried to the press on Saturday and showed the scars of his mother's beatings all over him. He said that it is the same with his younger ones.' Arican88 wrote on Twitter. "He pleaded saying 'please take me away from my mother before she kills me. I was very brilliant before now and I was happy with my father's family members around me but now they are far away because of my mother. "During the interview, he said that his mother gave him a deep cut on his head on Friday because she ordered him to wash plates but he told her to give him more time to study for the practical he will be having the next day. "Also, he said that his mother's behavior towards him and his younger ones, is absurd. She treats them like she is not their biological mother," Arican88 wrote. |
| A marathon runner who was almost killed by a bear shares details of her survival Posted: 21 Jun 2016 09:15 AM PDT  Karen wrote: I was at mile 23.5 per Garmin and coming up a little rise just before that terrible off-trail uphill. There was some sort of seep or pond or mucky area at the top of that little hill and when I topped it a bear was charging me. She was about 15 ft away. I raised my arms and yelled "NO!" then saw the cub. Then I was on my ass and being raked with claws and bitten. I cried out in pain and Mama bear did not like that so she hit me with a left hook and bit my neck and started to try to shake me. I rolled into a ball and played dead. She went off about 25 - 30 feet and stopped at the base of a tree and huffed at her cub that was up about 30 feet. The cub cried a bit while trying to get down the tree. Mama bear kept glancing my way to make sure that I was still "dead". I was at that point afraid I might die. I didn't know what the wound on my neck was like because I did not move for fear she would come wail on me some more. I waited about 10 minutes until the huffing she was doing was gone and I couldn't hear the cub anymore. Then I tried to look around but was having trouble seeing much. I tried to sit up but was nauseated and my arms didn't seem to work right. After 14 hours at UNMH and a cool helicopter ride and a very bumpy ambulance ride prior it turns out that I have a fractured right orbit from the mean left hook, missing parts of eyelid and eyebrow, injury to the belly of my left bicep and a lot of punctures and lacerations. But I am alive. Unfortunately the bear is not. Game and Wildlife found her and she is being tested for rabies. They are hoping to catch her cub/cubs. |
