Chris Brown's manager sues him, says singer beat him to a pulp Posted: 23 Jun 2016 01:49 PM PDT Read the report from TMZ below.. Chris Brown has more legal woes ... the guy he hired to rehabilitate his image after the Rihanna beating is now suing Chris for allegedly doing the same to him. Mike G claims he was hired in 2012 not only to change Brown's image but to get him out of debt and off drugs. Mike G says he did well by Chris, who had a resurgence in popularity.Things allegedly turned bad last month, but Mike G claims without provocation, Brown took him in a room, brutally attacked him with repeated punches to the face and neck, which landed him in the ER. The lawsuit claims Brown, rather than being remorseful, began mocking Mike G on social media and bragging to friends about the beating. Mike G says Brown had the audacity to tell people working on his tour, if they got out of line he'd beat them just like he beat Mike G. Mike G says Brown's rage was drug-fueled and the suit mention concern for retaliation from Brown's "gang member friends." Mike G's attorney, Patty Glaser, tells TMZ, "We did everything we could to resolve this in a non-public way to avoid damage to Chris Brown. Regrettably, as outlined in our complaint, Chris Brown has proven to be his own worst enemy." Update: 11:00 AM PT: Chris just responded to the lawsuit in an Instagram video, claiming he fired Mike G for stealing money from him. Mike G's lawyer says that's not true and they will be adding a defamation claim to the lawsuit. |
Forgery of Senate rule: Offer your explanation in court- AGF tells Saraki, Ekweremadu, others Posted: 23 Jun 2016 01:32 PM PDT Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has asked the Senate President Bukola Saraki and his deputy Ike Ekweremadu, to offer explanations on their alleged involvement in the forgery of the senate standing order last year, in court. Malami said this in a statement released on his behalf by his media aide, Salihu Isah, today Jun 23rd. Saraki, Ekweremadu and two others are expected to be arraigned in court on Monday June 27th on criminal charges of forgery of the senate standing rule in June last year. Read Malami's statement below... "The attention of the attorney-general of the federation has been drawn to a press statement by the senate, signed by Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, chairman, senate committee on media and affairs, on June 19," Malami's statement read. The statement entitled: 'Forgery Case, An Unconstitutional Violation of Principles of Separation of Powers, Checks and Balances', was published in some national dailies and social media platforms. It is quite unfortunate that the senate construed move of the federal government as a coup against the legislature with a view to cause a leadership change in the national assembly. It is worthy to note here that the action of the Attorney General of the Federation can stand the test of any law since he did not act on a vacuum. He acted based on a recommendation by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) who having fully satisfied investigative procedure arising from the petition sent to the Nigerian Police by some aggrieved members of the Red Chambers of the National Assembly alleging that the affected officers altered the rules of the Senate for Dr. Bukola Saraki and Ike Ekweremadu to emerge leaders of the Eighth Senate of the National Assembly. Under the 1999 Constitution, only the Attorney General of the Federation has the powers to institute criminal proceedings. For the benefit of doubt, as stated above, there was a petition bordering on allegations of forgery against the defendants, the petition was investigated by the police and the police recommended the case for prosecution. At this point, the question is how initiation of criminal proceedings against Dr Bukola Saraki, Ike Ekweremadu, Salisu Maikasuwa and Bernard Efeturi violated the principle of separation of powers as contained in the Constitution? The action of the Attorney General of the Federation cannot obviously be said to be a coup against the National Assembly as the Senate has claimed. By preferring the charge, the accused persons are entitled to fair hearing under the law while the prosecution is obligated to prove its case against them beyond reasonable doubts. Therefore, the Attorney General of the Federation has not violated any known law in the land. Or is the Senate suggesting that its principal officers, members and staff of the National Assembly are above the law or enjoys same immunity as do the nation's President and Governors? It is common knowledge over the years since the nation embraced democratic system of governance and backed by the current Constitution those elected officers of government who are exempted from legal encumbrances whether it is civil or criminal are known to all. It is pertinent to be reminded too, that forgery of the Senate Standing Rules cannot be described as the internal business of the National Assembly that is exclusively only in its purview. The Attorney General of the Federation cannot therefore be faulted for his decision to initiate legal actions against the accused for alleged forgery after a thorough police investigation of the issue whether there was an amendment of the Senate Standing Rules in 2015 or not. The case of Adesanya vs Senate which has been seriously touted in its press statement does not support them and they should rather take their plea and defend the action accordingly. We assure Nigerians that the Attorney General of the Federation will continue to be committed to the rule of law at all times. On this particular forgery case, we believe he should rather be commended for his foresight and political will to carry out his constitutional role to the letter and not to be vilified under any guise." |

The team was led by an Executive Director, Sola Oladipo. It also had two zonal directors of the bank and the Ado-Ekiti branch manager. Asked whether the bank really dissociated itself from the claim by the governor that it was part of the funding of the election, Shola could only mutter some inaudible words. He eventually said the spokesman for the bank was not on the team and could not say anything. While commenting on the development, Governor Fayose said the bank officials came to beg him over the issue. "They were begging me and that the matter should not go beyond this level. I asked them why did they go to the EFCC to tell lies. Why did they have to lie that money came from the Office of the National Security Adviser? If the money is for me why did they have to link with me what is not." Watch video below... |
Posted: 23 Jun 2016 09:58 AM PDT Embattled former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, told the court today that he is being punished by the powers that be for the perceived offences committed long before. Speaking through his counsel, Joseph Daodu (SAN), Dasuki said he leaves everything for God almighty to judge. "It is crystal clear that the defendant (Dasuki) is being punished by the powers that be for the perceived offences committed long before… we leave them to the Almighty God for his ultimate judgment," he saidThe former NSA said this at the hearing of an application filed by the Federal government that witnesses lined up to testify against Dasuki should be allowed to do so behind a smoked screen. According to counsel to the Federal government, Dipo Okpeseyi (SAN), Dasuki has large loyalists across the country who may jeopardize the trial if the witnesses are allowed to testify openly. |
Prison is too good for Vaso's killer" says mother of student killed by Nigerian Uche Ejimonye Posted: 23 Jun 2016 09:35 AM PDT The mother of a student stabbed to death for teasing a friend about his looks said the "cold-blooded" killer should never be released from prison. The accused Uche Ejimonye, 20, faces being sentenced to life today, June 23, by the Old Bailey after he was convicted of murdering Vaso Kakko, 17, in Holloway. The court heard he slashed the teenager's throat last November before plunging the blade into his back in revenge after being called "meathead" and teased for not having a girlfriend. Vaso's mother Zhaneta, 49, told the Standard: "That monster was a cold-blooded, professional killer. He should never be released from jail."Uche Ejimonye Ejimonye left his victim to bleed to death in a communal garden and fled to Bognor Regis, where he was arrested a week later. Ms Kakko attended all seven days of the trial but fled the court in tears when her son's killer acted out the moment he "sliced him" in the witness box. She described Vaso, an ex-pupil at St Mary Magdalene Academy who was taking a business apprenticeship while working as an estate agent, as "a hard-working, perfect boy" with ambitions to work in the City. At her home in Newington Green, with she lives with eldest son Bruno, 25, and where the walls are covered with photographs of the boy she lost. "Prison is too good for Vaso's killer" the devastated mother said. "He's still breathing, he's still alive and his family can still visit him. I had to bury my son. We only have pictures. My son wasn't given a chance to grow up. Half of me died with him, the other half is with Bruno."She disputed Ejimonye's claims in court that he was acting in self-defence, saying: "It was horrible to see and they tried to ruin my son's good name. I thanked God the jury saw through his lies and came back saying guilty."Ms Kakko moved to the UK from Greece when Vaso was four and said tougher action is needed to end the plague of knife crime. "There needs to be stronger sentencing for people found with knives but it's too late for my son." she said.Source: Evening Standard |
