Photos: VP Yemi Osinbajo, Gov Ambode, Ministers, take inspection tour of Dangote's Lekki Refinery, Petrochemical projects

Posted: 25 Jun 2016 01:59 PM PDT

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo alongside Lagos state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, and some Ministers took an inspection tour of the Dangote Lekki Refinery and Petrochemical projects today June 25th. Osinbajo after the inspection, said the project is an incredible industrial undertaken, being the largest and the most ambitious in Africa.

Osinbajo who was accompanied on the inspection by the Ministers for Finance, Kemi Adeosun; Solid Minerals, Dr. Kayode Fayemi and Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola and Industry, Trade and Investment, Okechukwu Enelamah, said the Gas Project upon completion has the capacity to produce about three billion cubic feet of gas daily, which would permanently address the two billion cubic feet daily gas required to power the country.
"This is incredible if that can be done because it would be a major strategic asset for Nigeria, It would boost our power supply tremendously," the Vice President said.
On his part, the Lagos state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, said the project when completed would have great multiplier effects on the nation's economy:
"Firstly, there is a refinery project that is ongoing, second there is a petrochemical project that is also ongoing. There is pipeline transfer project that brings gas from Bonny down to Olokonla and down to Lekki and then the fourth one is the fertilizer project all in one location."
The governor said the projects would also be critical to the economic growth of the Lagos East and West Senatorial Districts which according to him, will be open to massive investment opportunities on completion.
Governor Ambode said the decision of the Vice President to lead the inspection visit to the projects was a signpost to the benefits inherent not just for the State but to the nation. He assured that his administration would provide the necessary support to ensure that the projects are completed within schedule.
"The coming of the Vice President to inspect this project is instructive and a sign post that the Federal Government is in support of what is going on us and the truth is this, we might not be able to show you all that is going on here but in another few weeks, we will do an aerial view of this project and also do a documentary because for the very first time we are going to have a Petrochemical project that is coming on stream by December 2017; a Refinery that is coming on stream by the first quarter of 2019 and also the Gas project that is coming on stream by 2018. You can just imagine or visualize what that means to the economy of Lagos," Governor Ambode said.
Ambode added that apart from the 135,000 direct jobs that will be created from the projects, another 100,000 indirect jobs would be generated while income accruable to the Federal Government would be in the region of over $500million in three years.
"It is important that we understand the debt of what has happened here and also use it as a platform to encourage other investors that Lagos is on the rise and the future of Lagos is very bright," the Governor said.

Photos: Met gay Police officers get engaged at London Gay Pride

Posted: 25 Jun 2016 01:50 PM PDT

A couple of police officers got engaged at London Gay Pride today and the proposals were caught on camera. The pictures tweeted by the Met's LGBT network shows one of the officer, who appears to have been on duty at the time, asking his boyfriend to marry him as festival revellers set off confetti cannons in the background.

Fellow officers stand in unison during the romantic proposal, which ended with a yes and an enormous cheer from the crowd. In the video, which was shot outside Hamleys in Regent Street, the policeman holds the hands of his shocked partner and pops the question.

Thousands of people erupted upon the loved-up boyfriend's acceptance as the officer joined the rest of the force and marched away in the parade.

Publishing an image of the adorable moment with the caption 'He said yes!' on Twitter, MetLGBTNetwork later shared another image - however this time of a different couple.
The second loved-up duo appear to both be in the police force, and were photographed as one of the officers offers the other a ring.

"I prayed for him to die" Nigerian woman writes as her son turns 18 (A must read)

Posted: 25 Jun 2016 01:37 PM PDT

A Nigerian woman known as Nneka Anyachebelu took to Facebook to celebrate her only son who turned 18 yesterday, June 24.  In the post she talked about her trails and tribulations concerning her son who suffered from autism. Read the post below.
"I PRAYED FOR HIM TO DIE. Dont judge me, wait untill you hear me out.#‎Dilemma‬#Myonlyson#Autism#nohope#prayernotanswered#gaveupthefight# He was a healthy awesome child when I had him but by age 2 we noticed there was something wrong. There was no eye contact, he could not talk, didnt understand instructions, and so many other bad vibes.
That was when my nightmare started. I ran from pillar to post seeking solution. In some places they said he was partially deaf at others they said it was Autism. Up untill then I never heard the word Autism. The information I got about it was frightening and I saw those signs clearly in my son.
My life stood still. No school would take him in as he couldnt settle. Finally and luckily an Indian lady with a nursery school took him in, but my heart broke the Day I went to pick him up from school and asked her politely how he was doing. Her response was i don't know what to do with him. Am just a teacher not a psychiatrist. I cried all the way home. Thoughts bombarded my mind. Worst of all there was no answer to the tormenting thoughts.
An only son, Autism, was it generational? Or the devil? No answer! Up untill then I was having a swell time living my life to the fullest.. But with this dilemma I crawled to God .I attended every Christian gathering, crusade, vigils; just name it. I prayed; prayed , cried, fasted , sowed seeds but nothing happened. The years went by and it seemingly got worst.
People were begining to notice there was a problem I couldnt hide it any more. (By the way, dont try hidding your shame if God doesnt hide it you can't hide it)
My husband was tired. My mother who was perpetually encouraging me was tired, I was tired, exhausted and tired of casting, binding, fighting and faithing, so I prayed for Him to die so I could move on with my life.
 (I wanted a short cut)
He didn't die instead he grew. Seeing God wasn't ready to take him I went back to God again in prayer, I repented and continued from where I stopped .Running from pillar to post, church to church.
At one church I was told to go on one week dry fast with consistent midnight prayers. At midnight when I came down to pray I was usually afraid. One night as I came down for the prayer routine, I heard a voice say to me how can you be praying and afraid. You are afraid because you do not know the God you are praying to.
At that point I packed up and went on a quest to know this GOD!I stayed alone for 2weeks with only one prayer point. ( God if you are real let me know you.). I spent more time within those weeks studying the Word of God , and through the pages of the Bible I came to know this GOD. After that 2weeks of word immersion I had peace like I never had since the ordeal started. The burden for my son to speak or get normal left me. I was just at peace with God and the World.
About 3weeks later we travelled to England on Holiday. We were in a shop on Oxford street when my son that had never spoken came to me tapped me and asked me a question.
His first words to me were where is kamsy? He was asking for His older sister.
That was how my son started talking. One thing led to another; he started doing things he couldnt do and like magic caught up with his age mates.
It was like Magic! No Miracle.! Today I celebrate God as He turns 18.
There is nothing we dont talk about now. From His school work to the Girls that likes him and the ones He likes, lol.. Sometimes I even scold him that he talks too much, correcting him that as a gentleman he shouldnt talk much. How we so quickly forget...smh...
I cant thank God enough for him. Through my trial with him, I was reconnected back to God, I found my purpose in Life, and my ministry was birthed.(That is another story for another Day). I encourage you today in your own trial to fight on. No short cut.
God has not disappeared, take your eyes off your problem (if you can) Seek Him and He will do the needful plus much more m still praying... During my prayers today

I PRAYED FOR HIM TO LIVE AND SHOW FORTH THE GLORY OF GOD

Nigerians ask for Bellefull, Indomie responds

Posted: 25 Jun 2016 12:05 PM PDT

Nigeria's number one noodle brand, Indomie, recently made history as it unveiled a new brand extension, Bellefull Pack. Considered as Nigerian's first consumer named chicken flavour noodle brand, Bellefull is the result of a painstaking research embarked upon by Indomie; which had the brand asking consumers what more it could do for them. Consumers echoed that they wanted largest single consumption pack. Indomie 'listened' and then responded with Bellefull.

Bellefull is a noodles brand that satisfies like no other with great tasting, lip smacking, delicious INDOMIE. It comes at an attractive price of N150 and a sure answer to a quick convenient meal that can be garnished to give all the nutrition that is needed. The innovative brand was formally unveiled recently to the public at the function hall of Sheraton Hotels, Lagos.

The highlight of the launch was the witness of the selection of the Indomie Bellefull Online Comedy Competition winners from hundreds of entries which produced MISS ATUEYI ADA AND MASTER ABIOLA OLORUNYOMI OF UNCLE I DON BELLEFULL VIDEO as the latest millionaire in town.

On why Indomie launched Bellefull, Mr.OnomeAsagbra, Product Manager, Dufil Prima Foods Plc., emphasized that it defined how both consumers and marketers can together give creative solutions to everyday needs. He said:
"We are a consumer inspired and brand led business and at every particular point in time, we go the extra mile to ensure that we provide superior satisfaction to our consumers. And one way we try to do that is to always check with them to know what they want. First we study via various research which showed that while Nigerians like their favourite Indomie, consumption was greatly tilted towards breakfast or snack time occasions because of the perception that noodle is a light meal. Our quest was therefore to understand what the real bowl size was for other consumption occasions such as lunch or dinner given the economic realities to come up with a full meal that had an attractive price point and would be considered a total hunger buster. When we probed deeper, we got more insights into what we needed to do. And that gave birth to Bellefull. "Bellefull" the name in popular lingua can be associated with as it implies the feeling you want to get after eating the noodles."

Shedding more light on the uniqueness and extra benefits of the new Indomie Bellefull noodle, Mr. Onome stated that,
"it satisfies and fills you up no matter how hungry you are with little cost. It comes at an affordable price point of a hundred and fifty naira with all the great taste you love in your Indomie."

Speaking on the rationale behind the unique launch of Bellefull, Marketing Director, Dufil Prima Foods Plc, Girish Sharma stated:
"Having produced such a fantastic product, we also wanted to introduce it to our consumers in an extra exciting ambience with an extra first-of-its-kind experience. You can't have a fantastic product like this, the first of its kind in Nigeria and perhaps in the world and just launch it quietly."
He added that Bellefull would soon be available to consumers nationwide.

Nigerian Army reacts to reports of Buratai, his wives owning properties in Dubai

Posted: 25 Jun 2016 11:33 AM PDT

Yesterday, Sahara Reporters shared a report alleging that the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai and his two wives, owned properties in Dubai that was paid for from the money he allegedly made from "a vehicle contract scam when he, Buratai, was the Director of Procurement at the Army HQ". According to Sahara reporters,
"the Nigerian Army had awarded an apparently bogus contract for the supply of vehicles and motorcycles for the use of troops involved in an anti-terrorism offensive in the North East". The report stated that some aggrieved military officers in the North East who found out about the contract have petitioned President Buhari.
However in a swift reaction, the Nigerian Army has released a statement reacting to the report. According to the statement which was signed by Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, Acting Director, Army Public Relations, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai and his family indeed owned two properties in Dubai and that the properties were bought from personal savings
"The allegations contained in the Sahara Reporters write up are baseless and not correct. It is a fact that the Buratai family have two properties in Dubai that were paid for instamentally through personal savings three years ago. This, along with other personal assets have consistently been declared by General Buratai in his Assets Declaration Form as Commander Multinational Joint Task Force Commander and as Chief of Army Staff.
It is pertinent to state that the Chief of Army Staff does not have any account with Skye Bank as alleged, let alone making deposits in the imaginary bank account to the tune of the amount stated in the write up. Similarly, he has not been involved in any form of shady or dishonest transaction, not to talk of "contract scam".
In addition, General Buratai was never near either Defence Headquarters or Army Headquarters in 2013. It is pertinent to also note that he was never a Director of procurement in Army Headquarters as alleged. As a matter of fact, the Nigerian Army never had a Directorate of Procurement till when he established one last year when he became Chief of Army Staff.

In a bid to rubbish the hard earned reputation and good name of the Chief of Army Staff, these blackmailers will stop at nothing hence all these kinds of mudslinging.
It is really worrisome that some people could condescend so low to fabricate baseless allegation against the Chief of Army Staff for reasons that could best be described as mischievous. It is equally worrisome that Sahara Reporters could lend space for this obvious mischief. We really do not believe that it is because the price is right.

Consequently, the public and indeed all well meaning persons should disregard this round of campaign of calumny against the Chief of Army Staff and similar ones because they are baseless and unfounded.
For the unscrupulous elements and their cohorts, these campaigns would prod the Nigerian Army and indeed the Chief of Army Staff to continue to serve the nation diligently and with utmost zeal.

Photos: Young lady allegedly turns into a cat in Ibadan

Posted: 25 Jun 2016 10:17 AM PDT

According to the Head of News at Fresh 105.9 FM, Ibadan, Samson Akindele, this young lady turned into a cat and was found inside a store of a house at Ringroad area of Ibadan, Oyo state last Tuesday. He shared the photos above and wrote
This girl was said to have transformed from a cat into a human being at dawn today. She was allegedly found as a cat in the store of a house at Ringroad area in Ibadan.
It reportedly transformed into a girl before it could be killed. She smelled like an animal and passed heavily smelly animal faeces and urine with equally strong foul odour that could not be said to be of human origin. I'm still unable to eat as result of the choking smell that pervaded the community. It's one of the most scary reportorial assignments for me. Does anyone still believe in earthly mysteries and secrets? This is strange, but could it be true?.
