- Orlando Terrorist Omar Mateen had been showing signs of violent behaviour from his childhood
Posted: 14 Jun 2016 01:47 PM PDT Noor Zahi Salman, the second and current wife of Orlando gunman Omar Mateen, might face criminal charges for failing to disclose vital information about her husband's plans for the Pulse nightclub shooting that left at least 50 dead and 53 others injured. According to NBC, Noor told federal agents she was with Mateen when he bought ammunition and a holster, and once drove him to Pulse nightclub "because he wanted to scope it out." She also claimed that she tried to talk her husband out of carrying out the attack. Mateen opened fire at Pulse early Sunday morning, leaving 50 dead and 53 injured. Twenty-seven victims remained hospitalized on Tuesday. Six were in critical condition, according to hospital officials who said the death toll was still at risk of rising because one or two of the patients were "profoundly ill" Authorities are considering filing criminal charges against Noor for failing to tell them what she knew before the attack, law enforcement officials say, but no decision has been made. She is cooperating with investigators. Mateen, 29, was born in New York to Afghan immigrants. He was married twice, and was the father of a 3-year-old boy. |
EFCC raids Musiliu Obanikoro’s homes in Ikoyi, Lagos (photos) Posted: 14 Jun 2016 01:42 PM PDT Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) today Tuesday June 14th stormed the Lagos residences of former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, taking away cars and other valuables. The two homes raided were the former minister's private residence at Park View Estate in Ikoyi and the house near Banana Island, also in Ikoyi where his two sons, Jide and Gbolahan live with their families. The antigraft agents took along with them vehicles, wristwatches and other personal effects of the former minister and his sons, who are all in the United States. Obanikoro's media aide, Jonathan Eze, released a statement detailing what transpired. The statement reads "Officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Tuesday in their characteristic Gestapo like manner invaded Senator Obanikoro's houses in Ikoyi with unnecessary intimidation and harassment of occupants who are majorly innocent kids, teenagers, his wife and daughter in-laws not without carting away cars, wristwatches and other valuables. This is against the backdrop of the fact that the anti- graft agency has never invited him nor his sons for questioning beyond the tirades and allegations they have been propagating using the media spaces. We are using this medium to draw attention of all Nigerians to yet another infringement on the fundamental and inalienable rights of the Obanikoro family. Lovers of freedom should not wait until our democracy is put at irreversible damage. The list of human rights violations and political persecution has reached an alarming rate. We see this as an affront and a further show of shame and ignominy of this present administration hell bent in politically persecuting its perceived opponents in other to stoop them and rubbish their hard earned reputation of untainted public services. To our chagrin, the vehicles driven away were cars and trucks bought since 2006 and thereabouts when Senator Obanikoro served as an Ambassador in Ghana among others which obviously had no bearing with the purported investigation they are supposedly carrying out. We condemn in strong terms the brigandage and the idea of Inflicting trauma on innocent dependants and violating their privacies without recourse to the rule of Law. Senator Obanikoro has consulted with his Lawyers and are prepared to meet them in court to stop this intrusions and persecution,".Spokesman for the EFCC, Wilson Uwajeren, confirmed the raid of Obanikoro's home. He said "I can tell you that no one was harassed in the course of the search and that it is part of ongoing investigation on the man. Our operatives who went there conducted their affairs in best practices and took some vehicles away. I cannot immediately give inventory on the things that were carted away but that will be made known in due time. I do not think we need any permission from the man to do our job. Full details will be disclosed when we get there," he said. |

Photos from Ambode's 53rd birthday get together Posted: 14 Jun 2016 01:15 PM PDT Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode today June 14th, marked his 53rd birthday with a special luncheon to raise funds for the provision of three Mobile Cancer Centres across the three Senatorial Districts in the State, with a call on Nigerians to join hands together to wage war against the scourge. Ambode who spoke at an event tagged #GivingTuesdayLagos put together by the Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy (CECP-Nigeria), which coincided with his 53rd Birthday, said the Centres would go a long way to save millions of Nigerians from preventable suffering and death. Lamenting the rate at which the terminal disease has claimed thousands of lives in recent times, the Governor said it was unacceptable and therefore calls for concerted efforts from all and sundry. He said the war against cancer was one that the government cannot tackle alone, hence the need for Nigerians to extend their philanthropy towards the scourge. "Lives are lost every day to cancer and this is unacceptable. This is why the Lagos State Government carries out public health programmes focused on cancer. I believe that the government alone cannot solve every problem; everyone has a role to play. In my one year in office, I have come to realise that even with the best will in the world, Government cannot do everything. The real challenge before me as Governor of Lagos is how I unite public, private and philanthropic sectors in building our state. I am therefore, glad that through this private sector led initiative I can play a role in helping to advance the BIG WAR Against Cancer for the well-being of not just the good people of Lagos State but Nigerians in general. We can only achieve this goal with the generous support of all people of goodwill. Without these donations, the goal would not be reached and the opportunity to save lives would be lost," he said.Governor Ambode, who commended the CECP and philanthropists who donated towards the purchase of the first set of Mobile Cancer Centres, said that though the initial target was for one Centre in Lagos, having three centres in each of the senatorial districts in the State was a priority for him. "The purpose of this Luncheon is to raise funds for One Mobile Cancer Centre for Lagos but I would like to challenge us all to not only give towards the provision of one Mobile Cancer Center but towards the provision of three Mobile Cancer Centers servicing each of the senatorial districts of Lagos; as the Centre of Excellence and Africa's model City-State. This would help to save millions of Nigerians from preventable suffering and death. We can only achieve this goal with the generous support of all people of goodwill. Without these donations, the goal would not be reached and the opportunity to save lives would be lost," he said.He also expressed the readiness of his administration to mobilise philanthropists and Corporate Organisations towards establishing a comprehensive Cancer Centre in Lagos within the next three years, starting with making available a piece of land in any part of the State as well as facilitating speedy paper work. "This is not really a celebration but a call to service. Against all odds; against all the things happening to the economy in the country; against the numbers; against the anxieties and the panic, we are still able to stand up and gather ourselves together and say we want to give back to humanity, that is symbolic and key for me and I think we must commend ourselves that all hope is not lost. There is more value to us and humanity in championing this course," he said. |
GEJ denies owning £15m house in the UK, demands retraction from UK Sun newspaper Posted: 14 Jun 2016 12:57 PM PDT Former President Jonathan has responded to a UK Sun newspaper report claiming he recently bought a 12,000 square foot house in Surrey worth a between 10-15 million pounds. The claim was made by a former editor of the paper, Kelvin MacKenzie, in his Weekly column this past Sunday. Above is how he casually wrote it... which you can find here... Reacting to the report, Jonathan denied owing the property and demanded a retraction and apology from the newspaper. Read his statement after the cut... His media aide, Mr. Ikechukwu Eze, released the statement below... "Nothing could be further from the truth. Dr. Goodluck Jonathan takes pride in the fact that he does not have any property or accounts outside Nigeria. He stated this publicly while in office and his commitment to Nigeria's economy remains total even after he left power. As the Nigerian President who signed the Freedom of Information bill into law, Dr. Jonathan is well aware that the United Kingdom is a nation with good record keeping at county and national levels and as such, it will not take a serious and responsible media long to verify ownership of property before rushing to the press with potentially libellous publications. It is hoped that this publication will correct its error and do a retraction and that other media will likewise follow up on this story to put the lie to the details it contains. |

'I'm next. I'm dead!' - Orlando shooting survivor Angel Colon recounts horror Posted: 14 Jun 2016 12:47 PM PDT Lying wounded on the floor of Pulse nightclub, with a gunman continuing to fire bullets into the motionless bodies of patrons all around him, Angel Colon thought it was his turn to die. With three bullets in his leg, which was shattered as desperate clubgoers trampled him, he was unable to run to safety. And Omar Mateen, who had sprayed the popular nightclub in Orlando with bullets before briefly moving to another part of the venue, was heading back in his direction "All I could do was just lay down there while everyone was just running on top of me trying to get to where they had to be," Colon recounted on Tuesday, June 14, alongside the emergency medical personnel he credited with saving his life. "And all I could hear was the shots going one after another, and people screaming, people yelling for help," he told reporters. Two days after 50 people were killed and dozens of others grievously injured in America's deadliest mass shooting, Colon, his voice quivering, recalled how a festive evening out with friends turned into unfathomable horror early Sunday. He spoke at the Orlando Regional Medical Center, where survivors recounted the terror and tragedy of the shooting at Pulse, one of the city's top gay clubs, as well as the heroism of the medical staff that struggled to cope early Sunday with the sudden flood of gunshot victims. "We were just having a great time. We were all just there having a drink. It was shortly after two o'clock. We were saying our good-byes. I'm hugging everyone. It was a great night," Colon recounted. "No drama, just smiles, just laughter." A short time before the club was due to close, the shooting started. Colon was hit in the leg. "I was shot about three times in my leg, so I had fallen down. I tried to get back up, but everyone started running anywhere. I got trampled over, and I shattered and broke my bones on my left leg. So by this time I couldn't walk at all," he said. He briefly thought he had escaped death, when the shooter turned his weapons on victims in another part of the club. "He goes into the other room, and I can just hear more shots going on. I thought I was a little safe at this time because, you know, it's giving everyone time to tackle him down or get him down," he said. "Unfortunately, I hear him come back, and he's shooting everyone that's already dead on the floor. Making sure they're dead. I can hear the (gunshots) closer, and I look over and he shoots the girl next to me. And I'm just there laying down. I'm thinking, 'I'm next. I'm dead.'" The gunman shoots the already wounded Colon twice more, but somehow, the survivor said, "by the glory of God, he shoots towards my head but it hits my hand. "Then he shoots me again and it hits the side of my hip," he recalled. Colon was careful not to give away the fact that, despite having a half-dozen bullets lodged in his body, he was not dead. "I had no reaction. I was just prepared to just stay there laying down so he won't know that I'm alive," he said. "And he's just doing this for another five, ten minutes. He's just shooting all over the place." The shooting continued, Colon said, until police who burst into the building traded fire with the gunman and rescued the survivors, three hours after the start of the ordeal. Colon said a police officer dragged him to safety - through broken glass. "The floor is just covered in glass. So he's dragging me out while I'm just getting cut - my behind, my back, my legs. I don't feel pain, but I just feel all this blood on me from myself, from my other people." |

Posted: 14 Jun 2016 09:49 AM PDT Mr Steenkamp, father to Reeva Steenkamp, Oscar Pistorius' ex-girlfriend who was killed at the athlete's home in 2013 by Oscar Pistorius' gunshots, told the court today to show the world photos of Reeva's gunshot wounds, tearfully saying Oscar Pistorius must pay for his crime. Oscar's hearing started on Monday in South Africa with sentencing set for Friday and in Monday's hearing a psychologist told the court that sending Pistorius to prison will do more harm than good for the athlete as he suffers from depression and anxiety. Mr Steenkamp, a retired racehorse trainer, broke down repeatedly in the witness box as he laid bare the devastating impact his only daughter's death had had on his life. "I think of her every day of my life, morning, noon and night, in the early hours of the morning, I think of her all the time," he told a sentencing hearing that will decide what punishment Pistorius will face for killing Reeva, 29. Mr Steenkamp told the Judge that he wanted the world to see a picture of Reeva's dead body so that "the world can see the wounds that were inflicted on Reeva and the pain she must have gone through." He also said he declined meeting Pistorius after his daughter was shot dead. "Not the maximum sentence, but Oscar has to pay for what he did." Steenkamp revealed that he and his wife did not know about Reeva's relationship with the sprinter until before her death. While weeping terribly, he recounted the day he heard of his daughter's death. "I got a phone call from June (his wife) and I couldn't really understand what she was so upset about, screaming and shouting. She said 'come home immediately, just come home.' On my way home, I tried to fathom what she had tried to tell me….that's when I started to panic," he said, his voice barely audible between sobs, "the more I drove the more I realized that Reeva had been killed." Mr Steenkamp described how he speaks to Reeva, a law graduate, constantly and still finds the pain of losing her unbearable. "Our lives have changed completely," he said. "I talk to her every day. You know, people say be patient, two years three years and you start feeling a bit better about the whole thing, but every day of my life is the same. "Ever since Reeva's death, I wouldn't say I've become a recluse but I can't really mix with people any more. And I sit on that veranda two o'clock in the morning which has become a habit and I smoke my cigarettes. "It is very difficult to explain when you take about the incident. I don't wish that on any human being. It devastated us. I ended up having a stroke and so many things since then and I just don't wish that on anyone in this whole world," he said, his large body shaking with emotion and grief. In December 2015, Pistorius' sentence was upgraded to murder after the original trial judge was wrong on several points of law. Pistorius served just under a year in jail for manslaughter before being allowed to serve rest of his sentence under house arrest. Source: The Sun UK |
A must read for all fibroid patients Posted: 14 Jun 2016 09:48 AM PDT This is a sponsored post... If you're struggling to get rid of your fibroid, whether tiny, multiple or large, Then, this is for you as a former victim shares her experience. According to Kemi, she wasn't strong enough to talk about it, but now that she is healed she feels she owes it to women on how she got over it. I battled with an extreme case of Fibroids in secret for many years. When I say extreme, I mean EXTREME. From being rushed to the ER where the intense PAIN wouldn't even allow me cry, to being dangerously close to death because of anaemia, to the physical changes, the mental and emotional roller coaster it takes not only YOU, but your loved ones privy to the information. I alluded to my battle in a recent interview while speaking on something else, and since then I have had an avalanche of msgs from every avenue possible. Women going through the same thing needing more information. How I handled it. It's amazing how many women live with this everyday yet have NO information on how to get better, or manage the symptoms pending surgery. Even with all the resources available to me, it was difficult making the right choices. I had one doctor in NY tell me that I would have to take out my ENTIRE womb, that my case was THAT bad. Smh. I was like Errrrmmm I haven't had kids yet. I got a nonchalant "sorry" and a Kanye-shrug. Things I endured Ehn??? SMH Thank God I found a doctor who thought that was rubbish… And he was Nigerian… In Nigeria!! It's definitely something I would love to speak about, hoping that it helps someone out there. Check Here For The Natural Solution To Fibroid Here:=) http://goo.gl/qVymRW I kept quiet about it initially as it was a very personal experience that forced me into an extremely fragile mental and emotional space. I wasn't ready for it to be public. Now that I am healed. I would love to share my story hoping that it would help someone. Maybe a blog, or a video, or Twitter session… Not sure yet, but I will do it for you guys. Thanks for all the messages and questions. Keep them coming. Fiancee refuses to sleep with her partner until he meets her outrageous demands Posted: 14 Jun 2016 09:48 AM PDT Janey, 30, from Durham, has a way of making her soldier partner of five years, Ross give in to her demands and it seems to work like magic. She threatens him with a sex ban. She said: 'He knows not to say no. I will quite happily put him on a sex ban for one to three weeks which I have done in the past. The power of a woman's private parts is amazing to get what you want off men.' Janey has no income of her own but the shopaholic is all too happy to have Ross foot the bill for her designer taste which includes: expensive make-up and plastic surgery, 100 pairs of shoes and cosmetic treatments worth £5,000 in the past six months alone. Before Ross met Janey and started blowing his money, he was a diligent saver but that's ancient history now with his fiancee eating into his bank balance. On her part, Janey said she has no qualms about being 'a kept woman' and spending his money. She said: 'Ross has always given me an allowance, it started at £60 a month. Last month I spent £3,000. 'I could easily blow £15,000 in London. I admit I am a shopaholic. I find it relaxing and therapeutic. If you are having a bad day shopping is amazing. 'I am not a diva as in a B-I-T-C-H but I know what I want and I if I want it I get it, simple as that. 'I do like being a kept woman but at the same time I get bored.' Ross, 30, admits he has his concerns over his fiancee's reckless spending. He said: 'I don't think she grasps the concept of money, that it might not be there tomorrow.' But he admits he 'barely says no to her' demands, which currently include £70,000 for a new Range Rover and at least £14,000 for more plastic surgery so she can have a body like Kim Kardashian's. Of her surgery plans, Janey said: 'I want a tummy tuck and it would be rude to not have a big bum at the same time and perky boobs. 'I want a "Brazilian Butt Lift" where they suck fat out of wherever you want and inject it into your bum, so it is recycling which is a good thing.' Ross isn't keen on the plastic surgery but he is prepared to foot the bill 'if she wants it to make her happy'. The red lights are already flashing, the couple have been warned by a financial adviser that their annual expenditure of £100000 is unsustainable as it is above Ross' income. Janey admitted listing her recent spending was a wake up call. She said: 'Looking at it and breaking it down I think my income - our income - is so disposable we can live off it but we have I have gone a bit wild and took things for granted.' Ross said he hopes Janey will start thinking more before she spends now she has heard the warnings from the financial adviser. He said: 'I do spoil her. Will she stop? I think she will slow down.' Untold Story of Nkechi! The Lady that Got Rid of Fibroids Without Surgery Posted: 14 Jun 2016 09:14 AM PDT This is a sponsored post... About three years ago I passed out at work and was rushed to the hospital. At that time, I was on my menstrual period and had very heavy bleeding. My periods were very heavy for the first three to four days and I would have to wear both pads and tampons at the same time. The bleeding was so bad that I had to change both of them every 2 hours. I was just anemic from having heavy menstrual periods. The doctor was not pleased with my decision but he didn't force the issue and I was sent home later that night with some drugs. My Struggle with Fibroids The reason my periods were so heavy at that time was because of the three fibroids I had in my uterus. I first found out about them back in 2012 and in 2013 I had them removed with surgery. Two years later they came back even bigger. My doctor wanted to schedule another surgery but if it didn't work the first time why would I go under the knife again for a second time? So I decided to just deal with the pain and heavy bleeding and search for a natural way to get rid of them FOR GOOD!Searching for natural ways to get rid of my fibroids was not easy. I saw several advertisements ofall kinds of treatments to shrink fibroids. I was a little bit skeptical but I was desperate to get rid of the fibroids so I tried one in particular which didn't work. I was still having heavy painful bleeding with lots of clots. I noticed that the soreness in my breast was gone, but after going for another scan, I was told that my fibroids were still there. I was so discouraged that I scheduled an appointment with my doctor to discuss other possibilities for removing the fibroids.About two months later, while surfing onthe internet I saw a post on Facebook talking about how to get rid of fibroid naturally without surgery. I was very skeptical about it. I didn't even bother to follow the link in the post to read more. Two days later, as I sat alone in the sitting room feeling hopeless about my fibroid, I decided to go on Facebook and see if I can still access the post I saw two days earlier, thank God I was able to get it. I reluctantly gave the Natural program a try …it just made sense. On September17 of 2015, I began the Fibroid Shrinking program as seen on this website here =>http://besthealthsupport.com/fibroid.html2015: The Turning PointThe Final Results– Like I said earlier,I had 3 fibroids. One was growing inside my uterus and the other two were inside the walls of my uterus. The largest fibroid was the size of a grapefruit. When I got my results back from a scan I went for, the result shows that I only had one fibroid inside the wall of my uterus and that it was the size of a small apple. So two fibroids completely dissolved away and the largest one was the size of a small apple instead of a grapefruit. Since I wasn't having any problems with my periods and 2 out of the 3 fibroids were gone, I decided to just continue with the program and go on with my life.Fibroids Completely GoneTwo months later, I went for another scan and to my surprise and that of my doctor, my fibroids were gone. My doctor kept going over and over the scan result to make sure she was reading it correctly. She couldn't believe that all of my fibroids were gone without surgery. My uterus was back to its normal size and my periods are now 3 days long. She asked me what I did to make them go away and I told her "I did what I should have done back in 2013. There are not enough words to explain the happiness I have now. I wish I knew about this program when I first had fibroids but as the saying goes "Things happen for a reason". |
Photos: US Soldier returns home to surprise his daughter at her High School graduation Posted: 14 Jun 2016 09:00 AM PDT After spending nine months planning a surprise visit, a soldier made a quick return home from service to surprise his daughter in time for her high school graduation. Master Sgt. Derrick Morris was not due back from serving in Kuwait until September and he told his daughter, Camille Morris, he would not get to see her graduate. Derrick however had another plan in mind. He arranged with the principle of his daughter's school, Rancho Bernardo High School in San Diego, to be able to surprise his little girl and keep it a secret. When the day came, the sergeant made a huge entrance in front of the entire school and completely shocked her. Camille burst into tears at the sight of her father and rushed to hug him. When asked how she felt afterwards, she said, 'I didn't want to let go, I wanted to hold on to him. It would've been a year in September since I'd seen him, probably would've missed my 18th birthday, too.' Orlando Terrorist Omar Mateen had been showing signs of violent behaviour from his childhood Posted: 14 Jun 2016 08:57 AM PDT According to some former classmates of Orlando terrorist, Omar Mateen, he terrorized his Florida grade school - Mariposa Elementary by bullying students and threatening to go on a shooting spree in school. He constantly bullied others and once told a group of kids at their school he was going to bring a gun to school and kill everyone. When it became clear that he didn't sound like he was joking, they immediately told a teacher, and Mateen was suspended for 2 weeks. According to his classmates who have granted interviews after the club massacre, his behavior issues continued into middle school and he also threw chairs and spat at teachers. He even bragged to his High School classmates on 9/11 about being related to Osama bin Laden. His former classmates insist the warning signs were there at an early age and wish more had been done in terms of discipline or counseling. |
