Aggrieved lawmakers allegedly cancel invitation to break Ramadan fast with President Buhari

Posted: 22 Jun 2016 02:23 PM PDT

Aggrieved members of the National Assembly have allegedly turned down an invitation by President Buhari to join him in breaking his Ramadan fast at the presidential villa in Abuja. According to some sources in the presidency, the lawmakers are angry with the presidency over the recent row between the two arms of government. They are against moves by the presidency to try Senate President Bukola Saraki and his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu, on allegations of forgery of the Senate Standing Orders during the senate election in June last year.

President Buhari on Monday hosted service Chiefs to the Ramadan dinner while he hosted members of the Federal Executive Council yesterday. He was billed to host members of the National Assembly today June 22nd.

Selma Blair apologises for in-flight incident. "I am a flawed human being who makes mistakes"

Posted: 22 Jun 2016 02:08 PM PDT

Selma Blair released a statement today about her recent outburst to Vanity Fair, describing herself as "a flawed human being who makes mistakes"

While on a flight from Cancun, Mexico to Los Angeles, the actress was removed from the plane on a stretcher and rushed to a hospital after losing control. Blair, flying with her four-year-old son Arthur and her father's son, ex-boyfriend Jason Bleick, had an "outburst" that involved her crying and saying phrases like "He burns my private parts. He won't let me eat or drink." and "He beats me. He's going to kill me."

"I made a big mistake yesterday. After a lovely trip with my son and his Dad, I mixed alcohol with medication, and that caused me to black out and led me to say and do things that I deeply regret," she writes.

"Her son, she says, was asleep with his dad and wearing headphones. "I take this very seriously and I apologize to all of the passengers and crew that I disturbed and am thankful to all the people who helped me in the aftermath.

"I am a flawed human being who makes mistakes and am filled with shame over this incident," she continues, "I am truly very sorry."

If you behave yourself, you'll sleep soundly, your families will enjoy respect. But if you have short-changed the treasury, you will be caught and you'll have your day in court."

Zenith Bank denies funding Gov. Fayose's 2014 gubernatorial campaign

Zenith Bank has reportedly denied funding Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose's gubernatorial campaign im 2014. Fayose released a statement earlier today opening up on how his election was allegedly funded by the Zenith Bank Plc and some others. Cristiano Ronaldo shows why he's boss with 2 goals after thrilling 3-3 draw with Hungary (Match analysis/photos)

Posted: 22 Jun 2016 12:27 PM PDT

Well, he's back!! Like a Portuguese re-make of Superman III, in the most thrilling game of Euro 2016. Real Madrid and Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo showed why he's boss with two goals and an assist to help Portugal muster a 3-3 draw with Hungary and have qualified as 'best loser' for the next round of Euro 2016 after Iceland's 2-1 win over Austria.

Portugal and star player Cristiano Ronaldo came into the match knowing that a win will grant them automatic qualification into the next round but were stunned when Hungary scored the first goal of the match through Zoltan Gera in the 19th minute.

Portugal, despite having more scoring attempts, were not clinical enough and always fell for Hungary's tactical counter-attacking moves with Portugal also having efforts rules as offside.
Towards  the end of the first half, a counter attacking move led to Cristiano Ronaldo giving a well timed assist to Nani who slotted the ball in the rear corner with his left foot. It was 1-1 , game on. Half Time.

Iceland meanwhile were 1-0 up against Austria as at halftime, and needed to win the match and hope Portugal draw in order to qualify.
The second half started with Portugal coach Fernando Santos playing Cristiano Ronaldo more centrally but Hungary shocked the bookmakers with another goal two minutes after resumption of the second half with a deflected free kick effort from Dzsudzsak. Scoreline was 2-1 in favour of Hungary.
Moutinho who was wasteful and ineffective with possession was replaced by 18 year old Renato Sanchez and the game changed to Portugal's favour as C.Ronaldo equalized 3 minutes after Hungary's goal with a well placed header. 2-2!

The heat was on! Hungarian and Portuguese fans were wild with celebrations and chants as the game frantically played out.

Five minutes later, Hungarian captain Dzsudzsak scored again, 3-2!
Portugal striker Ronaldo was mortified and filled with anger, he couldn't believe his eyes. Hungary were leading 3-2 , but with 35 minutes to go he believed he could still get a result from the match.
At the 62nd minute after the introduction of Quaresma (a game changing substitution), Cristiano Ronaldo stylishly flicked the ball into the net to level the scores at 3-3.

With Iceland winning Austria, Portugal have qualified to the next round as best losers, and Ronaldo will beat his chest and say he proved his critics and haters wrong with this performance.

Full text of retired IGP, Solomon Arase's speech at the formal handing ceremony to Ibrahim Kpotun Idris at the Force HQ today

Posted: 22 Jun 2016 09:38 AM PDT

Valedictory Remarks by former IGP Solomon E. Arase, at the formal handing ceremony held at the Force Headquarters, today June 22nd. It reads,
It is with a feeling of deep appreciation of the Almighty God that I address you on this occasion marking my formal exit from the Nigeria Police Force and transition of leadership to a new Inspector General of Police.

2. Ladies and Gentlemen, exactly fourteen months ago, destiny reposed on me the fortune of being appointed the 18th indigenous Inspector General of Police. Today, natural sequence of history has not only occasioned the successful completion of my tenure, but has also beckoned on Ag. IGP Ibrahim Idris to step into the leadership space as the 19th Indigenous Inspector General of Police.

3. You would recall that during my inaugural address, I noted that -
The task of blending our acclaimed quality human assets with quality leadership is the main challenge ahead of us, but it is one I am convinced we can surmount'.

I also affirmed that – 'on my part, I can assure you that I will provide the highest possible level of professional and responsible leadership, while trusting that you shall march hand-in-hand with me as dependable professional colleagues, to advance the fortunes of the Force'.

4. One year, two months away from this assertion and clarion call, I can proudly note two significant developments. First is that I feel professionally satisfied that I enjoyed very high level of diligence, loyalty, sacrifice and professionalism from all cadres of the Force. This manifested in the great strides we collectively attained in our common march towards restoring the lost primacy of the Nigeria Police and bequeathing a Police Force of citizens' expectations to Nigerians.

5. Secondly, I am fulfilled that a widely experienced, knowledgeable and passionate officer of the calibre of Ag. IGP Ibrahim Idris has been appointed by the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federation to march the Force forward. I am convinced of the capacity of Ag. IGP Idris to provide the requisite leadership for the Force at this crucial time in the history of not just the Nigeria Police Force, but of our nation. In this regard, I can assure him of my support, even in retirement, as well as my constant prayers.

6. Let me at this juncture, encourage the Nigeria Police Family to extend the trademark loyalty, diligence, and professionalism which I enjoyed from them, to the new Force leadership. This, ladies and gentlemen, is the only path to follow in our journey towards enhancing the fortunes of our beloved Police Force as well as sustaining our relevance within the national security architecture of our country. Above all, this is the only path that will guide us towards achieving the Policing Vision of Mr. President within the Change Mantra conceptualized by the Federal Government.

7. In driving this valedictory speech to a close, permit me to deeply appreciate the support of all personnel of the Nigeria Police. The journey might have been tortuous, but looking back, we should all be proud that today, through an inclusive leadership strategy which I adopted, the Nigeria Police has acquired very strong intelligence, investigative and operational capability which can and have of late been deployed to crack any crime at any location within our national geographical space. The dignity of an average Nigeria Police officer has been restored. Public confidence in our competency has been enlivened.

8. Ladies and Gentlemen, it is not that crimes will not occur. No nation is immune from criminal activities. Today, however, like other Police Forces across the world, we in the Nigeria Police can beat our chests and make a clear and bold statement to criminal elements threatening our national value that if you commit any crime, we now have the capacity not only to arrest you, but to bring you to deserved justice in the most prompt, professional, and rule of law-compliant manner. This is the profile of the Nigeria Police Force you, my colleagues and all Nigerians have aided me to bequeath to our beloved nation. This is a legacy I can assure the nation that Ag. IGP Idris will not only sustain, but will advance.

9. I, therefore, wish to heartily congratulate Ag. IGP Ibrahim Idris for his well deserved appointment and to pray for God's wisdom as he settles into his schedules. I also wish to immensely appreciate Mr. president for the trust reposed in me and the firm support extended to me, even at most difficult times in my leadership.

10. Indeed, the unique Presidential support acted as the motivation that drove me through my tenure as Inspector-General of Police. I can assure Mr. President, that I shall remain eternally grateful and will sustain my commitment to his vision and values even in retirement.

11. To members of the Press, my friends, and indeed all Nigerians, as I bow out, I must put on record my deep appreciation of your constructive criticisms, pieces of informed advice, encouragement and unalloyed support for me. I call on you to extend similar favour to my successor even as I assure you all that the network we have built over the years will remain valued and sustained as I walk into retirement life.

12. I thank you all and pray for God's spiritual protection over Ag. IGP Ibrahim Idris and our beloved country.

Mrs. Udoka came across the solution to her Uterine Fibroids, Hear what she shared after taking quick action

Posted: 22 Jun 2016 08:51 AM PDT

This is a sponsored post
"I finally successfully shrunk my fibroids enough so that I could avoid surgeries, and so that I no longer have all those horrible side effects of fibroids, such as continuous heaving bleeding, and painful periods. There was a time when I was taking pain pills everyday just to get rid of the cramps. Sometimes I had to take sick days from work because my periods were so painful.
I avoided going to places on the first days of my cycle because I would bleed so much, and I had to be near a bathroom to change my tampons every hour.

Sex was painful, I was extremely emotional and irritable because my hormones were out of control.  I became depressed over my situation.  I was easily annoyed.  Then I would become extremely tired from being anemic from losing so much blood.  Do any of these symptoms sound like what's happening to you?  I had a lot of other bad symptoms as well like hormonal adult acne, cysts in my breasts, dry hair, dry eyes. People with fibroids can suffer from infertility and have an increased chance of a miscarriage or premature birth if they get pregnant while they have large fibroids. Although fibroid tumors are not cancerous, they still invade your body and they can reap havoc on your life. More info… here: http://bit.ly/fibroidremoval
I tried a lot of medications, I had 2 myomectomies to remove the fibroids, but after about 5 years or so the fibroids grew back after each surgery. The surgeries only gave me relief from the fibroids for about 5 years, and then the fibroids started growing back.  Also, unfortunately, the surgeries didn't heal my hormonal imbalance problems, so I still had adult acne, cysts in my breasts, dry hair, dry eyes etc.  the fibroids grew back; I knew I had to do something different.  I had to get smarter about what I was doing. Not until sometime February this year 2016 as my husband was surfing the internet for solutions to Fibroids he came across a natural way to get rid of fibroids, immediately he called my attention to the information. We both agreed and subscribe to the natural solution believing to get results from the 60days program as said.

To my amazement, after the 3rd week into the program, I was not feeling feel any pains, no dry hair and no dry eyes. on the 4th week I went for check-up and the Doctor told me, the fibroids have melted. I was so happy and I continued the 8-weeks program. After which I did checkup and I was declared fibroid free, not only did fibroid shrank, my infertility issue was transformed now am conceived" http://bit.ly/fibroidremoval
What a great transformation for Mrs Udoka. Let's look at what Fibroids are:
Fibroids are muscular tumors that grow in the wall of the uterus (womb). Another medical term for fibroids is "leiomyoma" or just "myoma". Fibroids are almost always benign (not cancerous). Fibroids can grow as a single tumor, or there can be many of them in the uterus. They can be as small as an apple seed or as big as a grapefruit. In unusual cases they can become very large.

There are factors that can increase a woman's risk of developing fibroids.
Age- Fibroids become more common as women age, especially during the 30s and 40s through menopause. After menopause, fibroids usually shrink.
Family history- Having a family member with fibroids increases your risk. If a woman's mother had fibroids, her risk of having them is about three times higher than average.
Ethnic origin- African-American women are more likely to develop fibroids than white women.
Obesity- Women who are overweight are at higher risk for fibroids. For very heavy women, the risk is two to three times greater than average.
Eating habits- Eating a lot of red meat (e.g., beef) and ham is linked with a higher risk of fibroids. Eating plenty of green vegetables seems to protect women from developing fibroids.
Most fibroids do not cause any symptoms, but some women with fibroids can have:

-          Heavy bleeding (which can be heavy enough to cause anemia) or painful periods
-          Feeling of fullness in the pelvic area (lower stomach area)
-          Enlargement of the lower abdomen
-          Frequent urination
-          Pain during sex
-          Lower back pain
-          Complications during pregnancy and labor, including a six-time greater risk of cesarean section
-          Reproductive problems, such as infertility etc. For the Natural Way out visit: http://bit.ly/fibroidremoval

Women who have fibroids are more likely to have problems during pregnancy and delivery. This doesn't mean there will be problems. The most common problems seen in women with fibroids are:
-          Cesarean section. The risk of needing a C-section is six times greater for women with fibroids.
-          Baby is breech. The baby is not positioned well for vaginal delivery.
-          Labor fails to progress.
-          Placental abruption. The placenta breaks away from the wall of the uterus before delivery. When this happens, the fetus does not get enough oxygen.
-          Preterm delivery.
