Posted: 16 Oct 2015 12:57 PM PDT This is the terrifying moment a Palestinian who disguised himself as a member of the press by dressing as a news photographer attacked an Israeli soldier in the West Bank settlement of Kiryat Arba. Because of the way he was dressed, the man was allowed to approach the soldier who was standing close to an armored truck alone. There, he brought out a knife and attacked the soldier. Other soldiers came to his rescue and tried to subdue the attacker. When the attacker's guise was uncovered, he was shot dead by Israeli troops. See the dramatic photos after the cut... |

Lamar Odom: Ray of hope!! Heart is responding Posted: 16 Oct 2015 10:45 AM PDT According to a report by TMZ, Lamar Odom's condition has improved in a hugely important way ... his heart is on the mend. Report below... Sources familiar with the situation tell us, tests on Lamar's heart Friday morning revealed his heart function is "much better." Doctors have told Lamar's friends and family this is a good sign of improvement, that a critical organ is responding. Doctors have asked for "calm" in Lamar's room because they do not want him stimulated .... because non-stimulation promotes healing. Toward that end, doctors have ordered that virtually no one have access to Lamar's room. We're told Khloe is still by Lamar's bedside. |

Photos: Naked mother throws her 6-month-old baby out of a 6-floor window, says "the devil is in her" Posted: 16 Oct 2015 10:18 AM PDT Tenisha Fearson, 27, on Thursday, October 15, dangled her 6-month-old baby girl out a Bronx sixth-floor window, screaming "We are all going to die" Hallelujah" and Praise the Lord" before letting the child plunge to her death onto the concrete below, police said. According to Tenisha's godmother Louella Hatch, as police were taking her away, she said "the devil is in her," Neighbors described a chaotic scene before the sickening drop, with building residents yelling at the deranged naked woman when she began throwing household items out the window. They screamed in terror and called 911 when they saw her bring the baby to the window. "She threw a baby out the window!" one witness screamed. Then, in a bizarre, ritualistic scene, Fearon lay on the floor surrounded by her other three children: two girls and a boy who were also naked and lying on their backs, according to next-door neighbor Gregorio Lopez. Lopez, 47, ran to the roof after he heard neighbors scream and saw Fearon through a window, he said. "I actually thought that they weren't alive when I saw them lying on the floor naked," Lopez said. But then, the maniacal mom "jumped up and started hitting the window," he said. "That's when I started calling for more help because I thought she might throw more (kids) out." Junilah's broken body was found on the pavement, officials said. Her shoe and Minnie Mouse headband still lay on the sidewalk. Emergency workers rushed the infant to St. Barnabas Hospital, where she was pronounced dead an hour later. Cops had to break down the apartment door to get inside and free Fearon's children. Witness Lizette Rodriguez, 48, heard Fearon screaming and throwing things out the window before Junilah was cast out. "She was screaming, 'We're all gonna die' and 'Hallelujah' and 'Praise the Lord!'" Rodriguez said. Hatch, 76, couldn't believe the young mother was capable of committing such a horrific act. "She needs help ...I want her to get help," Hatch told the Daily News. "Something's got to be wrong. She wouldn't do that." Hatch had just returned from a church meeting when someone told her a baby was thrown from a window. "When I realized it was my building ...I knew — that's my goddaughter," she said. One of Fearon's other three children — the oldest 10, the youngest 4 — were harmed and were all taken into the care of the Administration for Children's Services after the incident. Paramedics took Fearon to Bronx Lebanon Hospital for a medical evaluation. She was then expected to be transferred to Elmhurst Medical Center in Queens for a psych evaluation. Fearon was charged with murder late Thursday, cops said. "All I know is that Tenisha loved her kids...that's all," said the suspect's sister who refused to identify herself. Fearon was showing signs of instability in recent days, Hatch said. "She feels like the devil is in her. Yesterday I went to her home and that's what she told me. She's saying the same thing today. I told her, 'You need help because you have other kids,'" Hatch told Daily News |

Photo: Woman stabs 3-year-old son three times during argument with her husband Posted: 16 Oct 2015 09:56 AM PDT 26-year-old Zimbabawean woman, Nomatter Gava-Hudson stabbed her son three times in the abdomen in Mississippi on Monday, October 5, during an argument with her husband who screamed for help and got one from a passer-by who called 911. According to Police spokesman Sgt. Damon McDaniel, investigators learned that an argument took place between Gava-Hudson and her husband, the child's father, during which Gava-Hudson became "belligerent," brandished a knife and intentionally stabbed the child. The child was taken to a local hospital and later transferred to the University of South Alabama Medical Centre where he was listed in stable condition Wednesday afternoon. The 26-year-old mother appeared in court earlier this week charged with attempted murder and is being held on a $1 million bond. She could be deported if she's convicted of attempted murder. The hearing before Judge Brandon Ladner on Monday lasted less than 10 minutes. Gava-Hudson was informed of the charge against her, told she had the right to remain silent and the right to have an attorney represent her. She sobbed softly while being asked questions by the court clerk and sobbed the loudest when asked if she had any children, to which she replied she has a three-year-old son. Judge Ladner said he would appoint a public defender to represent her, but also said she had the right to hire a private attorney. She was dressed in a red and white striped jail jump suit and had leg shackles on. Gava-Hudson had been on suicide watch at the Harrison County Adult Detention Centre. The next step is a preliminary hearing, where the charge against her will be detailed with evidence and testimony. Judge Ladner said that preliminary hearing will be held in the next three to four weeks. Meanwhile the Immigration and Customs Enforcement has placed a detainer on her. After her arrest, ICE asked the jail to hold her pending resolution of the criminal charge. Source: The Mississippi Press |

Posted: 16 Oct 2015 07:33 AM PDT As part of efforts to plug the leadership and management gaps in Nigeria's health sector, the Private Sector Health Alliance of Nigeria (PHN), Health Strategy and Delivery Foundation (HSDF), alongside Cambridge University, Duke University, Lagos Business School, Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), and EpiAFRIC, launched the Healthcare Leadership Academy (HLA) which aims to develop the next generation of healthcare leaders that will excel in governance, management and quality healthcare service provision. Speaking to the first cohort of selected participants during the launch of the Healthcare Leadership Academy, Muhammad Ali Pate, co-chair, Private Sector Health Alliance of Nigeria said, there is leadership and management deficit at different levels of the health care system that impede the delivery of expected quality care. This developmental gap, Dr. Pate explained, is made evident by the low productivity and skill set of healthcare workers and the poor financial health of the institutions they manage. "The Healthcare Leadership Academy recognises these challenges and is established to respond to them using an innovative approach," Dr. Pate stated. Muntaqa Umar-sadiq, CEO, Private Sector Health Alliance, disclosed that the Healthcare Leadership Academy is a public-private collaboration designed to institutionalize leadership as well as private sector business and financial management approaches in the public health system. 'The HLA is an important step in developing synergies between the capabilities of the private sector and the severe gaps in the leadership and managerial capacity of public healthcare institutional leaders. He added that 'the HLA is a bold innovation that pooled non-traditional but complimentary partnerships to build health worker and policy maker capacity and disrupt the poor health system performance." The Private Sector Health Alliance of Nigeria and Health Strategy and Delivery Foundation brokered and convened partners and institutions to develop the Healthcare Leadership Academy to incorporate leadership, quality improvement and private sector business management approaches in the provision of quality care and governance of institutions. Dr. KelechiOhiri, CEO, Health Strategy and Delivery Foundation, described the balanced scorecard approach of the program that would deliver world class content and ensure capabilities are built across four critical areas – namely, Financial Management; Leadership and Organizational Development; Quality Improvement; and Population Health – with the content adapted to the local context and a 'field and forum' approach that combines in-class didactic curricula with real life, hands-on projects that are relevant to their respective organisations. The course is being delivered by global experts from Cambridge University Judge Business School, institute for Health improvement and Duke University alongside Lagos business School and EpiAfric. Mrs. Shola David-Borha, CEO, Stanbic IBTC Bank and board member, Private Sector Health Alliance of Nigeria, while formally inaugurating the first class of the HLA,called on other private sector companies to join the platform provided by the Private Sector Health Alliance to offer their capabilities and resources to complement government's effort in dramatically improving health outcomes through innovation and partnerships. Director, Cambridge Judge Business School Executive Education, Ms. AfuaOsie, stated that given the commitment and partnership that catalysed the emergence of the HLA, it has the potential to be the premier institution for building leadership capabilities in the African health sector. Founding partner, EpiAfric, Dr. ChikweIhekweazu, added that the course content will be delivered over 10 weekends by global experts who have extensive experience in teaching executives and policymakers. The first batch of participant selected for the programed were shortlisted following a screening exercise of submission by the various healthcare providers. Graduates of this flagship program will be armed with requisite skillset to bring about transformational and sustainable changes to their facilities and communities upon completion of the program in December 2015. LA Reid explains why they're yet to bail out their artist, Bobby Shmurda Posted: 16 Oct 2015 07:25 AM PDT Rapper Bobby Shmurda has been in prison since December 2014 after failing to post $2 million bail on multiple drug and gun charges. LA Reid, who is the CEO of Epic records where Bobby was signed to before his travails, explains why they haven't bailed out their artist. Asked about criticism for leaving Bobby locked up LA Reid tells Rap Radar, "…It's not the industry that it once was. We seriously don't make the money we used to make. That's a fact of life, right? "Bobby Shmurda is not the same as Snoop Dogg and Murder Was The Case, who's coming off The Chronic and his first album. It's a different era, ya know? And, we're a publicly held corporation. We just aren't in the same position we were in back in those days. So, it's a different day." |

He said "Five local governments in the northern senatorial district (of Adamawa) were completely taken over by insurgents. My house was the headquarters of one of the Amir or whatever they call themselves. So, for six months, I was an internally displaced person. |

Graphic: Tattoo-crazy man cuts off ears because he wants to look like his pet parrot Posted: 16 Oct 2015 07:01 AM PDT Ted Richards is so obsessed with his pet parrots Ellie, Teaka, Timneh, Jake and Bubi that he's had his face tattooed with their colourful feathers. The 56-year-old former factory worker who already has 110 tattoos, went further by removing his ears in an extreme act of mutilation made famous by artist Van Gough. Ted gave his severed ears to a mate who he believes "will appreciate them". But according to Daily Star, he is not stopping there because he is now planning to find a surgeon prepared to turn his nose into a beak. "I think it looks really great. I love it. It's the best thing that has happened to me.I am so happy it's unreal, I can't stop looking in the mirror. I've done it because I want to look like my parrots as much as possible. I've had my hair long for so many years my ears have been covered up. I have to admit I did used to get teased at school about my ears but that not the reason I've had it done."Ted got his first tattoo in 1976 and has since built up a collection covering almost his entire body. He also has a peace sign branded on his left shoulder with a 750 degrees centigrade hot iron and two magnets implanted in his hands. He shares his home in Hartcliffe, Bristol with his four parrots, as well as South American green iguana Iggy, and pitbull terrier Candy. He scours the internet looking for new procedures and says his facial transformation is a tribute to his "babies" - Ellie, a green winged macaw, and Teaka, a harlequin macaw. He is keeping tight-lipped about who carried out the six hour operation, but insists he is "happier than ever," and has even now got himself a girlfriend, Suzannah, 31. Since undergoing the operation Ted says the only issue he has is keeping his glasses in place - so he has had two small metal pins added to the side of his head. |
