Cancer survivor shares graphic treatment photos

Posted: 26 Oct 2015 12:54 PM PDT

A breast cancer survivor has posted shocking images of her chest post-treatment to raise awareness of the disease. 36-year-old Jenn Alter from saint Louis, Missouri uploaded the pictures which show her raw red chest after a 35-day radiation treatment. On her blog, Jenn wrote: 'Here's your f****** breast cancer awareness. This was during my 35-day radiation treatment back in 2013". See what she wrote after the cut...

'Breast cancer isn't sexy. It's not about saving the boobies. It's not about no bra day, which is really just an excuse for women to post sexy pics of their nipples pressing through their clothes. 'It's scars, nausea, pain, bald heads, burnt skin, and broken hearts.

'If this doesn't make you "aware" then I don't know what will.
'Does it make you uncomfortable? It should.' Jenn who is thankfully now in remission said: 'I made the post because I wanted people to know that breast cancer isn't about "saving the boobies." In fact, many women end up losing theirs to try to stay alive.

'This disease has been sexualised in order to supposedly raise awareness, and, because of that, society is able to ignore the brutal, ugly truth of breast cancer and breast cancer treatment. I wanted to show that ugly side.'

The Impudence of Rabiu Kwakwanso and his Fulani brothers - by FFK

Posted: 26 Oct 2015 12:35 PM PDT

Written by Femi Fani-Kayode...Read below..
I am saddened that the former Governor of Kano state, Senator Rabiu Kwakwanso, a man whom I have always considered a friend and one whom I have always respected could insult our revered Yoruba elders. Yesterday, during a function in Ibadan, it was widely reported in the media that he asserted that the recent demand by the Yoruba elders that all Fulani herdsmen ought to be banned from the south west as a consequence of the hideous atrocities that they have been committing against our people is somehow inappropriate and misguided.
Instead of stopping there he went further by attempting to give us an unsolicited lecture about his Fulani heritage and pedigree and about the benefits of having a good education: imagine that coming from one of them. He concluded by telling the Yoruba elders to just ''shut up''. Such impudence is rarely seen and this final insult may represent a defining moment in the history of the relationship between the Yoruba and the Fulani in our country.

Worse still, this comes barely a few weeks after Chief Olu Falae, a much-loved 77 year old Yoruba elder, was abducted, incarcerated, stripped naked, beaten, cut with matchetes, maimed, frog-marched, humiliated and kidnapped by a group of Fulani herdsmen. Unlike many others Chief Falae was lucky to escape with his life because both before and since his abduction many other victims of the Fulani cattle rearers did not. These aliens are herdsmen and cattlerearers by the day and terrorists, murderers, vagabonds and rapists by the night.

They have become a terror and an affliction to our people. That is what we have to live with in the south west and many other parts of southern Nigeria today. The Yoruba are still hurting from the abductions, murders, raids and consistent violence being meted out to them by these creatures from hell yet no-one seems to care. Many Yoruba farmers are still living in trepidation of being attacked and butchered by the vagabonds and many have had to sit by helplessly as the heartless beasts raped and slaughtered their wives and daughters before their very eyes.

Instead of attempting to calm our nerves and allay our fears by reaching out to us with an olive branch and condemning the criminal actions of his Fulani kith and kin, Rabiu Kwakawnso has instead indulged in his provocative and dangerous diatribe. It is a manifestation of the crass arrogance that some Fulani leaders have cultivated over the years that they feel that they can insult us in this way and get away with it.

Worse still they seek to defend, rationalise and condone the activities of their barbaric and murderous herdsmen who have murdered, raped and pillaged thousands of our people and forcefully taken our lands and crops over the last few years. I will leave it to Afenifere, the Yoruba Council of Elders, the OPC and others to respond to Kwakwanso and those he represents because these are the groups and people that speak for the Yoruba nation.

The only thing that I will say is that Kwakwanso's thesis and theory about education being the answer to the menace and criminal activities of the Fulani herdsmen in the south west does not make sense. It has no basis in logic, rationality or reason. In any case if the herdsmen are not properly educated and do not know how to behave in a lawful and civilised manner when they are in the territory of others whose fault is that? Is it not the fault of Kwakwanso and the other Fulani leaders who have refused to enlighten and educate their people over the last 50 years? That is the bitter truth. You cannot stop those herdsmen that have chosen to be murderers, vagabonds and rapists by simply educating them because what they do is inherent within them. Those that have chosen the path of criminality and violence are suffering from a sociopathic and psychotic disposition.

Simply put they have an insatiable bloodlust and an irresistible desire to hurt others and to steal, maim, rape and kill. When I say this I am not referring to all Fulanis but only to those Fulani herdsmen who insist on indulging in violent and deviant behavior in our land. The only thing you can do to stop such people is to make them face the full wrath of the law for the crimes they have consistently committed and ban them from entering our territory. It has nothing to do with education. We do not want these herdsmen amongst us anymore because they are like a plague.

All they do is kill, steal and destroy. They have done it throughout the Middle Belt for the last 50 years and now they are doing it in the south and particularly in Yorubaland. Do Kwakwanso and the other Fulani leaders expect us to keep quiet whilst their people are terrorising, slaughtering and robbing ours? If so they are in for a big shock. We will not only not keep quiet but we will also continue to insist that they must get out of our land.

And if the government refuses to protect us from them we shall take strong measures to protect and defend ourselves and our people. There is no crime in self defense. The days of talking down to us, treating us with contempt and treating us like slaves are long over. Kwakwanso and those he represents should not test our will or underestimate our resolve. We want peace but it cannot be at the expense of our lives and the liberty and safety of our people.

The Yoruba cannot be butchered at will or treated like sacrificial lambs to the slaughter by anyone or any group of people. Senator Kwakwanso's insult on the Yoruba elders will not go unanswered. Education is not the solution to the problem of the murderous Fulani herdsmen. Expulsion is.

Saudi man divorces wife two days after marriage, says she is the source of badluck

Posted: 26 Oct 2015 09:55 AM PDT

The superstitious man divorced his wife two days after their marriage, claiming she brought bad luck.
According to Gulf News, the man reportedly said that he thought something was wrong with his bride after witnessing a series of incidents.

He claimed that on their first day together, the curtains of the flat where they went to spend their honeymoon came down on the floor and the waiter who was serving them when they went out for their first dinner slipped and fell.

He added that when they returned to the flat, the bottle of perfume he was holding also fell on the floor when he told his bride that it had a great smell, Saudi news site Al Marsad reported.
The man thought that all the falls that occurred after the marriage were a negative sign and that his wife was going to be bad luck in his life, and decided to divorce her. The next day, he took her to her family's home and told her parents that he was divorcing her.
However, social media users criticised the man for his attitude.
"Does he think that marriage is such a trivial matter," one blogger, Competent, asked.
"Does he think that you can marry a woman and divorce her so easily over such trivial matters? He obviously needs help. He should not be allowed to play with people's emotions as per his wishes."
Yara, another user, said that the groom acted in a dramatically nonsensical manner.
"The reason for the divorce is so frivolous and in fact reflects how limited his mind is," she posted. "If he associates eyes with terrible signs, then he should talk with her and see what can be done, not divorce her."
Another blogger congratulated the bride on her "lucky escape" from a strange groom.
"Maybe he should consider that he may be the reason for the incidents," he said. "The woman is obviously lucky to move out of the life of an obsessed man with a sick mind."
For a blogger writing under the moniker of Falkon, the grounds cited by the husband for the divorce did not make sense.
"This is utter nonsense and the reason is not logical at all," he said. "We know there are some omens related to the eyes, but we also know there are prayers people say to keep the evil eye away."

Bacon, ham & sausage - set to be classed alongside cigarettes as cancer-causing

Posted: 26 Oct 2015 08:47 AM PDT

According to the World Health Organization, Processed meats such as bacon and ham do cause cancer. 50g of processed meat a day now increases the chance of developing colorectal cancer by 18%. The World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) has warned for a number of years that there is 'strong evidence' that eating a ridiculous amount of red meat can cause bowel cancer. Meat does have health benefits.

Red meat for instance is a good source of protein and provides vitamins and minerals, such as iron and zinc. However, Processed meats which have been modified (smoked, or salted for preservation), either to increase shelf-life or alter flavour are the problem. These additions increase the risk of cancer benefits.

Lagos to purchase 3 helicopters to battle crime and tackle traffic

Posted: 26 Oct 2015 07:58 AM PDT

Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode yesterday said that his administration has concluded plans to purchase three helicopters next month to enable security agencies tackle criminal activities from the air as well assist in monitoring traffic gridlock to ease movement across the metropolis.

Ambode made the disclosure while speaking as a guest on a popular radio programme, Soni Irabor Live (SIL) on Inspiration FM.

He said he was deeply concerned about the increased spate of robbery incidents in some areas of the state, expressing optimism that the helicopters will go a long way to aid security and traffic surveillance in the state. He appealed to residents in the state to join hands with his government to make it successful.
"We are in this together, all Lagosians. It is your government; you put me there; I'm your servant and I'm ready for criticism. I'm listening and I believe strongly that you have a say in this government because it is an inclusive government. No matter where you come from, no matter your creed or colour, this is your government. I appeal that Lagosians should join hands with me; tolerate whatever it is that you are seeing and make sure that you also carry out your own civic obligations. Pay your taxes because it is the only way that Lagos can grow and you know, the bottom line is this, we all need to work together to achieve a safer Lagos; a cleaner Lagos; and a more prosperous Lagos and that is what all of us are going to do," he said.

NBC urges DSTV not to air transgender series, 'I am Jazz'

The National Broadcasting Commission has urged Multichoice, the parent company of DSTV, not to air a programme titled "I am Jazz" which is set to air on TLC channel soon. "The commission has drawn the attention of the service provider to this concern and has received firm assurances that it will investigate and if it concerns that thr programme is indeed promoting undesirable ideas that will offend the Nigerian public."

Dogara narrates how God used Fayose to pronounce him Speaker

Posted: 26 Oct 2015 07:48 AM PDT

Speaker Yakubu Dogara has narrated how God used the Governor of Ekiti state, Ayo Fayose to confirm him as speaker of the House of Representatives. Speaking at a special pilgrimage programme: "A day with Jesus for Nigeria in Israel," organised by the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), which held in Jerusalem yesterday October 25th, Dogara narrated how he met with Fayose during the race for speakership and how Fayose prayed for him & he became victorious.

"Concerning the race for speakership race, it was almost the same story to how I won the election to the House. Some of our members and the powers that be said they did not want a fundamentalist Christian, that I am a fanatic. At a point, I decided to leave everything to God, having realised that human efforts were not working, even my supporters had resolved to accept the deputy speakership offer, which I declined. In the process, I think a few days, thereafter, that I ran into my brother, the governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, for the very first time. When I got to him, I did not know I was coming to meet a prophet, I thought I was coming to see a politician. If they had told me what happened that day was going to happen, I would not have believed it. When we got to him (Fayose), he took us to a swimming pool, told everybody to remove his/her shoes, asked us to hold our hands, kneel down and he started praying. As he started the prayers, I said wow! I have never seen or heard a politician pray in this version before, but I thank God that those prayers really worked for me. Come and see the words coming out of Fayose's mouth. He mentioned my name, saying 'I pronounce you the Speaker of House of Representatives', and he said the God who made his own possible, would make my own possible."he said
