Albinos risk persecution in Nigeria? Since when? Posted: 22 Oct 2015 01:14 PM PDT Worthy to note is that the family who claim this is trying to seek asylum in Italy. According to the parents of the little girl who were living in troubled Libya but left because of the violence that broke out, they know they can not return to their native Imo State because of their daughter - Jasmine's condition. 'Her hair is blonde, her eyes are blue and her skin is noticeably fairer than her brother's. They claim they risk persecution in Nigeria if they return here with her. Are Albinos in danger in Nigeria? Maybe there's something I don't know... In the village where her 24-year-old mother Shalom grew up in southeast Nigeria, girls like Jasmine are seen as bearers of bad luck, according to a reporter who spoke to the family. They are frequently attacked and sometimes even killed. In many parts of Africa, their body parts are sold to witch doctors and used in rituals.' According to Jasmine's mother, 'We can't go back there because we're scared she might be kidnapped. jasmine's never met my mother, my sisters or my brothers, but they understand we can't return.' The family now hopes to claim asylum in Italy.Photo Credit: UNHCR/Alessandro Penso. |

Posted: 22 Oct 2015 12:33 PM PDT Seven inmates at Kershaw correctional institution, South Carolina have been given at least 1000 days each in solitary confinement amounting to a total of twenty years. Their offence? The men who are serving sentences for crimes ranging from manslaughter to robbery recorded a six minute music video and uploaded it to WorldHipHop where it went viral. They have also seen privileges taken away, including visitation hours. They were also sentenced for possessing the phone, which was considered contraband In addition to the rap video - which was viewed more than a million times online - the men were punished for producing 'security threat group' materials. The Electronic Frontier Foundation has however come to the men's defence saying the video was a work of art and no rules were broken. However, prison officials said the inmates were guilty of creating or assisting with a social network - as well as possessing contraband - something that can be used to deadly effect by prisoners. Earlier this year, as many as 400 prisoners at Kershaw Correctional Institution were handed the punishment for using Facebook - or for asking a friend to update their profile for them, it found. And in October 2013, one prisoner, Tyheem Henry, was sentenced to more than 37 years in disciplinary detention - as well as numerous lost privileges - for 38 posts on the social network. |

INEC Chairman: Buhari has shown he is sectional leader - Fayose Posted: 22 Oct 2015 09:50 AM PDT Read the press statement below.. Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has described the appointment of yet another northerner, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu as Chairman the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as a vindication of his position that "President Mohammadu Buhari is a sectional leader, who sees himself mainly as leader of the Hausa/Fulani, and not that of the entire people of Nigeria."The governor, who said he had expected that the new INEC Chairman will be chosen from one of the three Southern geo-political zones, especially the South Western part of the country being the only zone yet to produce chairman of the nation's electoral umpire, posited that; "Nigeria has entered a one chance bus and it remains to be seen who will save the country from its sectional President." Reacting to the appointment of Prof Yakubu as the new INEC chairman, Governor Fayose said, in a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka that even the Yoruba leaders who promoted and made the Buhari's Presidency possible had been short-changed. The governor asked; "Shouldn't he have considered someone from either South-East, South-South or South-West as Chairman of the Electoral Commission now that we have a President from the North? "For reasons of perception, equity and fairness, don't we have credible people from the Southern part of Nigeria that can conduct credible elections as INEC Chairman? Or do we assume that the 2019 elections have already been won and lost by the appointment of this Hausa/Fulani professor as INEC chairman? Or isn't it regrettable that even in 2015, it is only in PDP controlled States that elections are being upturned?" He said he was worried that the three arms of government; namely Executive, Legislative and Judiciary were being headed by northerners, leaving the three zones in the Southern part of the country with nothing. Speaking further, Governor Fayose said; "When Chief Olusegun Obasanjo was the President, he never appointed a Yoruba man as INEC chairman. Dr Goodluck Jonathan too did not appoint an Ijaw man as INEC Chairman. "Former President Shehu Shagari too did not appoint a Hausa man like himself as Chairman of the Federal Electoral Commission (FEDECO). Rather, he appointed late Justice Victor Ovie Whisky. "During the Ibrahim Babangida and Sani Abacha regimes, no Hausa/Fulani man was appointed as Chairman of the National Electoral Commission of Nigeria and General Abdulsalami Abubakar who established the current INEC did not also appoint his fellow Hausa man as chairman. "How then can we have a President from the North and at the same time have INEC Chairman from the Hausa/Fulani Northern Nigeria? "Obviously, what is being witnessed is more like a situation where it appears the President is more interested in having someone malleable to him than serving the interest of Nigeria and its people." Governor Fayose, who described the hurried appointment of the INEC boss as a vindication of his earlier stand that the appointment of Mrs Amina Zakari as INEC Acting Chairperson was illegal, said all processes leading to the conduct of the Kogi and Bayelsa States governorship election must start afresh. "It should be recalled that l raised the alarm on the legality of INEC under an Acting Chairman or Chairperson as there was no provision for INEC Acting Chairmanship position in the Constitution of Nigeria. "I did say in a statement issued on August 9, 2105 that any action taken by INEC with Mrs Zakari as its head will amount to illegality and I urged President Mohammadu Buhari to avoid plunging Nigeria into an avoidable legal quagmire by rescinding immediately, the illegal appointment of Mrs Zakari as INEC Acting Chairperson. "However, the president chose to wait until decisions were taken by INEC on Kogi and Bayelsa States governorship elections and one begins to wonder how INEC will wriggle itself out of the legal quagmire it has been plunged into by the President's refusal to heed to the voice of reason," the governor said. |

You won't believe how this man's 3-year-old daughter embarrassed him in public Posted: 22 Oct 2015 09:27 AM PDT In a reddit post, an unfortunate fellow revealed how his 3-year old daughter took the liberty to inform him about his shortcomings-no pun intended. Apparently, he took her into the men's toilet of a restaurant because his wife wasn't around and according to him, his home operates an open door policy meaning everyone knows what everyone is packing down under. While in the toilet, two men entered causing his daughter to back away from the door, she ended up right beside him as he was doing his business, took one look at his member and loudly exclaimed "daddy!! Look at your little penis!!. The men just couldn't contain their laughter. The hapless man is confused because he is at a loss as to what scale his penis was measured against, where has she seen bigger ones? And she's just three years old! Our guess is he won't be returning to that restaurant anytime soon. ![]() He wasn't the only dad who had an embarrassing tale to tell, one said his son walked in on him bathing and exclaimed "dad! You've got boobs like mom!" Another recalled how his son's daycare expressed worry to his wife after the tot kept talking about "how huge dad's penis is". Yet another dad told of how his son quipped "look dad it's Jesus" after seeing a man with long flowing hair and long beard in a restaurant. |
Flamboyant Psychologist - When you're 25 & your Bae is 57 Posted: 22 Oct 2015 09:16 AM PDT Is it ok or acceptable for a young lady to date an older man, senior citizen or someone old enough to be her father? This article highlights the reasons, characteristics , justifications some ladies have for dating older men. The cultural and societal views, why some ladies tagged as " runs girls" or " opportunist". Is fair to tag them as these names or can their relationships be based on love? (1) Maturity ( Chronological Age Vs Mental Age) (2) Finances (3)Pressure & competition amongst friends (4) sex (5) Sponsors (6) Love (7) Rough patch / economy (8) Trend ( A trait that eventually develops into a behavioral pattern) (1) Maturity ( Chronological Age Vs Mental Age) : Chronological Age is a measure of an individual's age based on calendar days, months and years I.e an individual's actual age, Mental age is the ability of an individual's mental attainment I.e how smart or intellectual a person is without age being a factor . This being said, a lot of young ladies today attribute their dating older men to Maturity. They claim that they can't date guys/men of their own age because they are immature, self centered and their priorities are misplaced eg all young guys are interested in are buying bottles, champagne in the club, going out every Friday night, sex everytime without intimate conversation. On the other hand older men are more understanding and they can relate very well with them. The mentality of an older seasoned man makes them be themselves and be free. (2) Finances : One of the major reasons why people frown at young ladies dating older men is because of money. When we see a pretty young lady at the mall or a restaurant with an older man we automatically develop a bad perception about her saying she's a "runs girl", "SideChick" "slut" etc. Is every lady who dates an older man a runs girl? What if the man is single? or divorced?. Obviously there some ladies out there who throw morals aside and are motivated and fueled by money, cars , shoe, designer bags , foreign trips so they don't mind dating someone who is 30 or 40 years older as long as they are living a luxury lifestyle and financial needs are met. I've heard of a story where in a Private University in Nigeria; a girl ( student) stole her friends dads number at night in the hostel to pursue her friends dad for financial needs or recruit him as a "sugar daddy". (3) Pressure & Competition amongst friends : Studies have shown that women hold their friendships very dearly and are more likely to succumb to pressure by their friends than men. In Nigeria today the competition amongst young ladies for who travels to Dubai, London the most in a year, who has the most Chanel bags, Brazilian hair, iPhone 6, red bottoms, new cars has led ladies to misplace priorities based on the mentality of " if Tola has it I must have it to" . Some ladies get drawn into competitions that their family, parents, husband, bank account or assets can't cope with. As a result of this , they find older men married or unmarried to provide them with these essentials or luxury (4) Sex : This is very debatable but some ladies who have been with both younger and older men say older men have more experience and "know-how" than younger men in bed. As a result women who are driven by sexual satisfaction may find comfort in an older man. But the irony is that some ladies who claim to be with an older man because of sex and the man is 67 years? How does sexual satisfaction come into play given the physique or stamina or such men. (5) Trend ( A trait that eventually develops into a behavioral pattern ) some ladies have been dating older guys from their first boyfriend. A scenario : When Pamela was 16 her first boyfriend was 21, when Pamela was 21 her second boyfriend was 29, when Pamela turned 27 her current boyfriend is 45. Some ladies have never dated someone their mate and don't intend to. They believe only a much older man can handle or cope with them because of their dating track record. (6) Rough Patch / Bad Economy : "I will find you a job" , " I will open a shop/store for your business" , "I will get you students visa" , "I wIll upgrade your car" "I will pay for your hostel / school fees" These are the many lines and words repeatedly used by older men on young ladies who are going through a tough with no jobs, funds and support to live the lives they always dreamed of. This is no justification because there are a lot of ladies out there going through hardship and are not selling their body's to make ends meet but these lines are classic in drawing the attention of most ladies going through hard times or a bad economy. In some Nigerian Universities on visiting day some young ladies have about 4 daddies to come visit them. Their biological dad comes at 8am in the morning and other daddies come later at night with evenlopes of cash and new phones, tickets to Dubai. (7)Love : A lot of people won't agree under these circumstances which is the age gap between some ladies and their man ( 25 - 55) (23-40) (29-58) . Love is actually determinant factor. A prominent neurologist once said ; love is like a cold no one or age is immune to it . Some couples who fall under this age bracket may actually be more into each other than a (25 - 32) couple. Culture and Society frowns at young ladies dating older men because of the negative outcome of these relationships. Some men involved in these relationships are married and these younger ladies breakup marriages, bankrupt men, or come in as second wives. On the other hand some of these men use these ladies as a tool for different seasons to exploit their naivety. Do what works for you in your own clime, age is just a figure when it comes to affairs of the heart. QUESTION OF THE DAY : As a parent or when you become a parent ; Would you allow your daughter date or marry someone 35/40 years older than her?
